• Efforts to improve the planning of health care and to insure a satisfatory diffusion of medical technology will require examination of the processes by which decisions are made, analysis of the methods by which information is obtained and studies of the mechanisms by which innovations are spread, accepted or rejected. This will also require methods to assess costs, safety and efficacy. To address these questions Spri arranged a workshop on the evaluation of medical technology. The aim of this workshop was to exchange knowledge and experience and to summarize the present state of the art in different countries.
