    • The sculpture [Prussian] BLUESHIFT - Space Debris 2551 takes its shape from the satellite Cosmos 2551. One of the biggest fragmentation events in space took place in 2009 when the abandoned satellite Cosmos 2251 and Iridium 33 collided, leading to the destruction of both satellites. To this day, over 1000 catalogued space debris objects from the collision circulate around the Earth and one of the orbits passes right over Öland. When an object in space moves towards us, the light from the object is called blueshift, which describes the change in the frequency of a light wave. The color of the sculpture is Prussian blue, which is on the World Health Organisation's list of essential medicines and is used as an antidote to certain heavy metals and radioactivity. The artistic research work questions ownership and responsibility for the pollution caused by colonisation and space tourism. Led by wealthy nations and private companies, this reflects the colonisation of the Earth whose negative impact on the environment and cultures we have yet to come to terms with. The sculpture is mostly created from recycled material from discarded student projects from the HDK-Valand art school and the Gothenburg Opera's metal textiles set design from the climate-smart production of The Ring of the Nibelung.

    • The two sculptures in the exhibition encompasses, discarded materials from the Arktikum Science Centre, the HDK-Valand Academy of Art and Design workshops and the Gothenburg Opera. The sculpture ”We are taking great pains to make sure there’s not an orbital debris issue” includes images from her collaborations with the artificial intelligence bot Midjourney, based upon the Elon Musk statement which is also the title of the work [1] regarding the SpaceX expansion. In my artistic research practice I explore questions of ownership and responsibility for the (light) pollution caused by colonization, space tourism and commercial space tech companies. Led by wealthy nations and private companies, this reflects the colonization of the Earth whose negative impact on the environment and cultures we have yet to come to terms with. It is estimated that there is already more than 200 000 kg of artificial material on the Moon, and the number of large pieces of debris in space is about 20 000. The starry sky we look upon nowadays is actually scattered with artificial lights which impossible for the bare eye to tell the difference. The sculpture ”Sipping Cosmic Latte in the Milky Way, waiting for The Big Crunch” is a reference to the color of the Universe as defined by scientists Karl Glazebrook and Ivan Baldry, named Cosmic Latte for its creamy yellowish white hue. The Big Crunch is a hypothetical scenario for the ultimate fate of the universe, in which the expansion of the universe eventually reverses and the universe recollapses.   • Prospects and pitfalls of using heart rate bio-loggers to assess the welfare of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in aquaculture

    • - Investigating real-time stress responses during common aquaculture practices is necessary for improving the welfare of farmed fish. Recently, Star-Oddi DST milli-HRT bio-loggers capable of measuring heart rate (as an indicator for stress) in freely swimming fish have proved to be useful in this regard. However, despite the growing popularity of these devices, they have not yet been stringently evaluated and validated for use in fish. The present study is the first to do so by simultaneously recording heart rate of a commercially important salmonid species (rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss) using the abovementioned bio-loggers, as well as an established non-invasive wireless heart rate recording technique that has been demonstrated to provide more accurate recordings than those collected using traditional methods requiring a physical connection to recording equipment. The measurement error of the bio-loggers was <1 beat min −1 irrespective of the sampling period when only using measurements graded with the highest quality index (QI 0 ) and it is advised that only QI 0 measurements be used as inclusion of poorer quality measurements (QI 1–3 ) markedly reduce measurement accuracy. Furthermore, sufficiently long recovery periods should be employed prior to collecting data with these devices in salmonids, as anaesthesia and surgical implantation of bio-loggers resulted in transiently elevated resting heart rates for >72 h. Following the successful validation of these bio-loggers, the effects of common aquaculture practices such as netting, grouping and enforced activity on the cardiac performance of freely swimming rainbow trout were investigated. Prior to the subsequent exposure to the abovementioned stressors, mean heart rates of trout were ~42 beats min −1 . Following netting, trout increased heart rates by 57%, which recovered within 3 h. Grouping subsequently induced a more pronounced and prolonged stress response, as heart rates initially increased by 86% and then remained elevated throughout the 8 h recovery period. Consequently, trout were only able to further increase heart rates by 7% following enforced activity. This diminished cardiac response demonstrates a situation where the cumulative allostatic load induced by prior stressors is approaching a level where the animal struggles to perform normal physiological processes in the face of further challenges. These findings are important for the aquaculture industry as exposure to multiple stressors without sufficient recovery times has the potential to result in the collapse of cardiac scope, which combined with unfavourable environmental conditions could lead to increased mortality. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.

    • This paper presents a user interface to the User-Centred Knowledge Model (t-UCK). T-UCK is a knowledge modelling tool for designing knowledge-intensive systems. The model centres round the various users, i.e., both the design users and the end users, and facilitates the use of a conceptual model for handling different types of knowledge, the reasoning strategy and other functionality. For the design users, the conceptual model is presented through a modelling view of the contents used for developing the system. For the end users, the conceptual model has a parallel consulting view used for sessions with the system. Both these views are directly modelled into the system through a graphical modelling language, the Unified Modelling Language (UML). UML is a general-purpose modelling language, which in a modified form it can be used for development of knowledge-based systems.

    • În ultima perioadă s-a abordat tot mai des problema implementării unor dispozitive de intrare care să sprijine interacţiunea 3D prin oferirea a 6 sau a mai multor grade de libertate (degrees of freedom sau DoF). Cu toate acestea, astfel de dispozitive care să fie disponibile pentru interacţiune liberă în spaţiu - adică fără a fi necesară o suprafaţă ca sistem de referinţă, cum este cazul unui mouse - sunt proiectate doar pentru un tip restrâns de aplicaţii. De asemenea, aparatele de intrare de acest tip sunt rareori intuitive în utilizare şi limitate ca număr. Pentru a combate aceste probleme, în acest articol propunem un dispozitiv de complexitate şi costuri de implementare reduse, care poate fi utilizat în spaţiul liber şi este extrem de configurabil, susţinând nativ o interacţiune intuitivă cu variate medii virtuale. R3 (roll - rostogolire, rotate - rotire, rattle - agitare) oferă acurateţea necesară pentru navigare şi indicare - atât în 2D, cât şi în 3D – în aplicaţii de modelare şi jocuri, dar şi feedback tactil prin prezenţa unui trackball, toate acestea într-o manieră orientată spre utilizator. În plus, dispozitivul poate fi trecut uşor în modul de mouse, oferind astfel oricând suport pentru interacţiunea cu sistemele de operare convenţionale.
