  • Numerical simulation of the coupling problems of a solid sphere impacting on a liquid free surface
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Mathematics and Computers in Simulation. - : Elsevier BV. - 0378-4754 .- 1872-7166. ; 80:8, s. 1664-1673
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents a model, using a phase-field method, that is able to simulate the motion of a solid sphere impacting on a liquid surface, including the effects of capillary and hydrodynamic forces. The basic phenomena that were the subject of our research effort are the small scale mechanism such as the wetting property of the solid surface which control the large scale phenomena of the interaction. The coupled problem during the impact will be formulated by the inclusion of the surface energies of the solid surface in the formulation, which gives a reliable prediction of the motion of solid objects in/on/out of a liquid surface and the hydrodynamic behaviours at small scales when the inertia of fluid is less important than its surface tension. Numerical results at different surface wettabilities and impact conditions will be presented and compared with the experiments of Duez el al. [C. Duez, C. Ybert, C. Clanet, L. Bocquet, Nat. Phys. 3 (2007) 180-183] and Lee and Kim [D. Lee. H. Kim, Langmuir 24 (1) (2008) 142]. (C) 2009 IMACS. Published by Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

  • Evolutionary Selection against Iteratively Weakly Dominated Strategies
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Games and Economic Behavior. - : Elsevier BV. - 0899-8256 .- 1090-2473. ; 117, s. 82-97
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper provides sufficient conditions under which regular payoff monotonic evolutionary dynamics (a class of imitative dynamics that includes the replicator dynamic) select against strategies that do not survive a sequence of iterated elimination of weakly dominated strategies. We apply these conditions to Bertrand duopolies and first-price auctions. Our conditions also imply evolutionary selection against iteratively strictly dominated strategies.

  • Integrated Dynamic Aquaculture and Wastewater Treatment Modelling for Recirculating Aquaculture Systems
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Aquaculture. - : Elsevier BV. - 0044-8486 .- 1873-5622. ; 287:3-4, s. 361-370
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) in land based fish tanks, where the fish tank effluent is biologically treated and then recirculated back to the fish tanks, offers a possibility for large scale ecologically sustainable fish production. In order to fully exploit the advantages of RAS, however, the water exchange should be as small as possible. This implies strong demands on the water treatment, e.g. the maintenance of an efficient nitrification, denitrification and organic removal. Because of the RAS complexity, though, dynamic simulations are required to analyze and optimize a plant with respect to effluent water quality, production and robustness. Here, we present a framework for integrated dynamic aquaculture and wastewater treatment modelling. It provides means to analyze, predict and explain RAS performance. Using this framework we demonstrate how a new and improved RAS configurations is identified.
