  • Being a good sport : players' uptake to coaches' joking in interviews for the youth national team
  • 2020
  • In: Sport Coaching Review. - : Informa UK Limited. - 2164-0629 .- 2164-0637. ; 9:2, s. 185-207
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This paper draws on detailed analyses of authentic coach-athlete interviews during the final selection camp for the Swedish national youth team in hockey. The audio-recorded interviews between the coaches and the individual players (20 players and two national team coaches) covered various issues, involving both the individual players´ goal-setting and sports character, as displayed in his self-presentation during the interview. If the presumptive elite level player presented a vague or low goal or an overly humble self-presentation, this was contested by the coach through jokes, laughter or ironic teasing. Such conversational joking exchanges formed part of each coach´s toolkit for giving critical feedback to interview questions. In their uptake to the coaches playful corrections, the players were expected to engage in po-faced receipt or to laugh along. The selection involved character contests both on the ice rink and in the talk-in-interaction that formed part of the performance appraisal procedure.

  • Tid för samtal : Vad talar vi om egentligen?
  • 2013
  • Book (other academic/artistic)abstract

  • Aesthetic learning processes – feelings and sensations of skate- and snowboarding
  • 2008
  • In: Designs for learning. ; , s. 1-
  • Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • Skateboarding and snowboarding are practices loaded with symbolic expressions. They are also activities profoundly understood as physical. This paper will investigate the narrated impressions of these activities – in other words the expressions of impressions. Skateboarding and snowboarding are discussed as aesthetic learning processes, which to a large extent are both bodily and informal. The paper builds on ethnographic fieldwork and cultural analysis. Kirsten Drotner’s theory of aesthetic practices is used as a starting point. Aesthetic practices/production works on three levels: the individual, the social and the cultural. The individual level is characterised in terms of emotional intensity and corporality. The sensation is described as so encompassing that it becomes ones life, ones identity. The body is acutely present in these descriptions. It is the body that experiences, and it is there that the sensation of riding comes alive.

  • Reflections From a Post-Pandemic Library
  • 2022
  • In: Journal of the European Association for Health Information and Libraries. - : European Association for Health Information and Libraries. - 1841-0715. ; 18:4, s. 12-14
  • Journal article (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • One of the many lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic is the importance of connecting and collaborating with students and staff in and outside the library. Because of Covid, the interaction was kept at a minimum and limited to the occasional zoom-based lectures or individual instructions. After reopening our library, we experienced a dramatic drop in library visits and library use. In this reflective text, we discuss the challenges we faced as we returned to a new normal.

  • Technological trends in Swedish medical libraries
  • 2023
  • In: Health Information and Libraries Journal. - : Wiley-Blackwell. - 1471-1834 .- 1471-1842. ; 40:3, s. 326-331
  • Journal article (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • Medical libraries in Sweden are digitised to a large extent, technically advanced and developing rapidly. This paper investigates technological trends among Swedish medical libraries in the near and distant future and their application within different areas of library activities. The authors also present a roadmap to increase technological developments within medical libraries in Sweden. Current technological trends include digital collaboration tools, mobile technologies and visualisation. Artificial intelligence, big data and smart technologies are upcoming trends. Technologies are applied within all areas of library activities, but preconditions for academic and hospital libraries differ. To remain a relevant provider of information services, libraries must be able to monitor, test and adopt new technologies.
