  • A business process metadata model for a process model repository
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Enterprise, Business-Process and Information Systems Modeling. - Berlin : Springer Berlin/Heidelberg. - 9783642130519 - 9783642130502 ; , s. 287-300
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Today reuse of business process models is becoming increasingly important. One of the proven solutions for reusing business process models is the use of repositories. Repositories should have process models and process metadata that can help users in searching, understanding, and interpreting process models. The purpose of this paper is to propose a Business Process Metadata Model (BPMM) that would facilitate a) locating process models, b) understanding and/or interpreting process models, and c) navigating a process model repository. In order to evaluate the BPMM, an empirical study is conducted to measure consistency and correctness of annotating business processes by using BPMM.

  • Extending BITA maturity model from organizational culture perspective
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Proc. Annu. Hawaii Int. Conf. Syst. Sci.. - : IEEE Computer Society. - 9780769545257 ; , s. 5011-5022, s. 5011-5022
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Business-IT alignment (BITA) has gained attention during the past few years. As a result, a number of theoretical models that can be applied as supportive tools for assessing different components of BITA have been developed. However, most of these efforts have been produced either in Anglo-Saxon Countries or rooted in the experiences gained from these countries. Consequently, they ignore the factor that is subjected to change due to difference in cultural contexts. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of organizational culture on achieving BITA and influences its maturity. The research method and process that was followed, namely an in-depth literature survey followed by an empirical study of 51 Swedish multinational organizations.

  • Laggards as Innovators? : Old Users as Designers of New Services & Service Systems
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Design. - 1991-3761 .- 1994-036X. ; 5:3, s. 89-98
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Involving users in the design process is increasingly discussed as the quickest and most reliable way to capture the needs of users and consumers. In parallel, the fastest growing population segment in Asia and the West is older people. This article asks whether their involvement in the design process could accelerate a growing service market and if so, how? It addresses a knowledge gap that constrains service provision for a growing market of older people and which underestimates older people's potential contribution in the early phases of the development of new services. The current role of older users is limited to that of test persons later in the design process or as objects of randomized samples that explore consumers' reactions to existing products. The present case study provides an empirical example of how old users can be involved in the early stages of service design. In doing this, the article questions the concept of old users as laggards. It suggests great potential to include such users - been arounds - as sources of innovation in the earlier phases of the design process if they have the right tools and opportunities to act. In identifying unsatisfied needs and potential market solutions, the inclusion of old users in user-driven projects can contribute to the generation of business ideas.

  • Assessing the welfare change from a pension reform
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: International Tax and Public Finance. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0927-5940 .- 1573-6970. ; 18:6, s. 634-657
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We study the welfare implications of a hypothetical reform of the Swedish public pension system where eligibility to pension benefits is delayed by 3 years. Using an option value model, we consider the labor supply responses to the reform and develop a compensating variation (CV) measure to analytically assess the individual welfare changes in a random utility framework. We find that a purely budgetary calculation (neglecting individual labor supply responses) overestimates the welfare loss by more than 65%. We also develop a method for testing between a binary and a multinomial option value model, where the binary one is nested in the multinomial model in a Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) model framework. The binary model cannot be rejected.

  • Backcasting images of the future city-Time and space for sustainable development in Stockholm
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Technological forecasting & social change. - : Elsevier BV. - 0040-1625 .- 1873-5509. ; 78:5, s. 819-834
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents and discusses a backcasting study for Stockholm 2050. The focus is on developing images of a future where Stockholm citizens have sustainable energy use-here defined as a 60% reduction per capita over a 50-year period. The perspective is that of households, so all energy is allocated to individuals' activities rather than being discussed from a sector perspective. Six images of the future are developed by combining a space dimension (three versions of changes in urban structure) and a time dimension (two versions of people's life tempo). Added to this is technological development, so that the images of the future illustrate how combinations of planning, behavioural change and technological development could lead to sustainable energy use.

  • Sustainable governance of the agriculture and the Baltic Sea - Agricultural reforms, food production and curbed eutrophication
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Ecological Economics. - : Elsevier BV. - 0921-8009 .- 1873-6106. ; 69:10, s. 1943-1951
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Agricultural production and nutrient loads to the Baltic Sea are likely to increase following Poland's and the Baltic States' entrance into the EU. According to HELCOM these trends will be highly dependent on the agricultural policies of the EU. The expansion of the EU can be seen as a window of opportunity where agricultural policy could improve the Baltic Sea environment. Longstanding initiatives with local organic food systems and Ecological Recycling Agriculture (ERA) in the eight EU-countries in the Baltic Sea drainage area were evaluated during 2001-2004. The empirical results were scaled up to calculate environmental impact and food production for three different scenarios. In one scenario the Baltic Countries and Poland convert their agriculture following the average Swedish production. This resulted in 58% increase of nitrogen and 18% increase in phosphorus surplus, a corresponding increase in the load to the Baltic Sea and increased food production. In two other scenarios agriculture production in the whole Baltic Sea drainage area converts to ERA. This halved the nitrogen surplus from agriculture and eliminated the surplus of phosphorus. In these scenarios food production would decrease or remain stable depending on strategy chosen.
