  • Dynamics of B2B brand equity : the role of interdependencies in buyer-seller relationships
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Proceeding of the 39th EMAC Conference. - : European Marketing Academy. - 9788792569011
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of buyer-seller interdependencies on the formation of brand equity in the B2B context. The study demonstrates that a higher level of dependency, experienced by the multi-services buyers compared to the uni-service buyers, affects overall brand equity developed towards the seller. By considering the hierarchy of effects between the brand equity dimensions, the study shows that the factors capturing the interdependencies have a significant impact on brand loyalty of the multi- service buyers. The study contributes to branding research by evaluating the impact of buyer- seller dependency on B2B brand equity.

  • View and management of innovativeness upon succession in family-owned SMEs
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Managing the Art of Innovation. - Lappeenranta, Finland : Lappeenranta University of Technology Press. - 9789522650047
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The purpose of this paper is to provide insights into how thesuccessors of family-owned manufacturing SMEs view and manageinnovativeness. Research into company take-overs mainly focuses on largecompanies and little is known about innovativeness in research on familyownedbusinesses, often SMEs. This paper presents findings from ten companysuccessions, five of which describe family successions and five external ones. The paper shows that there is little difference in how various types of successorview and manage innovativeness. A successor is chosen with care and this alsoinfluences the view and management of innovativeness: other criteria seem toapply in the succession and any (radical) changes can only be introduced if anumber of contextual factors are managed properly.

  • Counting beans or moving mountains - the predicament of energy efficiency policy
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Energy efficiency first. - Stockholm : European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ECEEE). - 9789163344558
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Many studies identify energy efficiency as the most important and least costly option for reducing CO2-emissions while at the same time contributing to other policy objectives. The main challenge seems to be how to design, implement and evaluate policy to ensure that these opportunities are captured and policy perceived as legitimate. There is often a gap between rhetoric or broadly stated objectives in policy development and the narrow focus on verifying additional savings in evaluation. Ancillary benefits and costs are often overlooked and the primary criteria for impact evaluations are whether policies deliver additional and cost-effective savings. In practice, however, such impact evaluations are fraught with fundamental methodological difficulties and uncertainty. Double counting, spill-over, free rider and rebound effects are real and recognised factors that complicate evaluation. This has been experienced in the development of a harmonised calculation model as stipulated by the Energy Services Directive where a fair amount of attention has been given to such factors. In the mean time the more challenging, yet non-binding, 20 percent target of the EU Energy Efficiency Action Plan is stressing a need for new policy implementation. The question then becomes: how can the legitimate demands for policy to deliver additional savings be realistically addressed in practice and balanced against broad and long-term objectives? To answer this question, we provide an overview and assessment of the issues, opportunities, and correction factors for energy efficiency policy design and evaluation. We challenge the preoccupation with verifying countable savings and argue that it can be counterproductive. What counts are policy frameworks that can unleash and accelerate energy efficiency across all sectors in order to reach levels that are commensurate with broader energy and climate policy goals.

  • Using internal contracts to promote intrapreneurship in the public school system : hopeless half-measure or promising hybrid?
  • 2011
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper we explore the use of a novel governance form – internal contracts - in the Swedish public school system, in terms of its effect to promote intrapreneurship in the organization. We studied a public school that during the time period 2007-2010 was a test case, by performing interviews with management and staff and through a questionnaire measure entrepreneurial behaviour and other relevant aspects in this school and two control schools. The results show that the internal contract gave the school room to act entrepreneurially and that it is a promising organizational tool for renewing the public sector.

  • Bundle of practices versus TQM principles and their prediction for productivity
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Yearbook on Productivity 2011. - Stockholm : Statistics Sweden. ; , s. 35-97
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The main objective in this study is to compare the traditional TQM management concept with contemporary used learning and work practices in firms in the business sector in Sweden. Will the use of one or both of the concepts predict higher value added per employee? The two management concepts are used as measurements of endogenous activities in the firm and are included in growth models. The concepts are based on new data from the Swedish Meadow Survey 2009/10 and matched with innovation data, ICT data and register data for the year 2008 from Statistics Sweden. The Meadow Survey is based on the new proposed guideline of how to harmonise the collection and interpretation of data concerning work organisation and competence development in the European Union countries.

  • Supply chain process maturity and financial performance study of Swedish steel SMEs
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of  the 17th Euroma conference.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The goal of this research is to demonstrate that the financial performance of the current year in Swedish steel SMEs is dependent on the amount of maturity of supply chain processes. This is examined by considering current supply chain process maturities of the firm together with financial performance of prior years. It was found that the delivery process of supply chain processes and prior cost of goods sold (COGS) have an effect on current COGS. Additionally, prior inventory and plan process of the supply chain have a positive and negative effect on inventory turnover respectively.

  • Success of Government E-Service Delivery : Does Satisfaction Matter?
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: ELECTRONIC GOVERNMENT. - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg. ; , s. 204-215, s. 204-215
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • For measuring e-government success a well-founded theory is important which can help governments to improve their services and identify how effectively public money is spent. We propose using citizen satisfaction as a measure of e-government success, as well as explore its relationships with e-government service quality. Three hypotheses have been formulated to test the model. For empirical estimation, the data used in this study was collected form Sweden. An online survey was conducted using systematic sampling among the municipalities in Sweden, 425 valid responses were received. The measures of each variables selected in this article were mainly adapted from related previous studies. Efficiency, privacy, responsiveness and web assistance were selected as e-service quality dimensions. Actual usages were measured by three items- Frequency of usage, Diversity of usages and Dependency. Confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to confirm the factor structures. The analysis shows that 43% of the variance among the factors of e-service quality, and usage is explained by citizen satisfaction. We found e-service quality has a relation with citizen satisfaction considering four dimensions of service quality. Efficiency, responsiveness and web assistance were found to be of more importance compared to privacy in determining e-service quality. Use was found to be positively and significantly related to citizen satisfaction. The results should contribute towards understanding of the key issues that influence citizens' needs and level of satisfaction with the tax services and help improve the service delivery process. Further research is suggested to explore other quality dimensions such as system and information quality.
