  • Ingår i: International Encyclopedia of Education : Globalization and the Shifting Geopolitics of Education - Globalization and the Shifting Geopolitics of Education. - : Elsevier. - 9780128186305 - 9780128186299 ; 1, s. 135-147
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The educational opportunities of refugee learners are shaped by forces of globalization, restrictive mobility regimes and geopolitical agendas, that place them in a position of structural disadvantage. The majority of the world's refugee learners have fled due to armed conflict and reside in neighboring countries in the global South. In many cases forced displacement is protracted, with limited global commitment to take responsibility for education. Compared to international education which sees mobility as valuable, few efforts are made to provide education oriented toward transnational lives, or that provide the flexibility refugee learners need due to the uncertainties of their futures.

  • Two fascisms in contemporary Europe? Understanding the contemporary split of the Radical Right
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: In the tracks of Breivik. - Berlin : LIT Verlag. - 9783643905420 ; , s. 53-70
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Fleischer suggests that the divergences between the far right in Eastern and Northwestern Europe in the late 2000s could be understood as a difference between multi-fascism, concentrated on the preservation and re-birth of ethnic identities, and mono-fascism, pre-occupied with the defense of "Western" values against perceived threats, foremost from Muslim populations. Although, as Fleischer emphasizes in his afterword, these forms now appear to have been transient, his chapter emphasizes the need for a synthesized and theoretically refined perspective on the contemporary far right.

  • The Gotheborg IV (G4) Model and the Function of Language in the Globalization Process of the Firm: The Case of Swedish MNEs.
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: In M. Khan (ed.), Multinational Enterprise Management Strategies in Developing Countries. Hershey, PA: Business Science Reference.. - USA : IGI Global. - 1522502769 ; , s. 215-236
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This chapter contributes to the theory of a firm's globalization processes reflected in the Uppsala Globalization Process Model (UGPM). The Gotheborg IV (G4) model is introduced, mapping the knowledge zones of the UGPM in a four quadrant axis model. Using language in its meta-capacity as theory and framework of analysis the G4 model makes a distinction between the words ‘enterprise' (Hn) and ‘subsidiary' (H1), addressing the core features of firm globalization with geographically dispersed foreign subsidiaries and globally coordinated activities of manufacturing, sourcing and R&D capabilities. With the distinction between Hn and H1, the G4 model is able to present eight perspectives of the globalization process from interior and exterior to the enterprise and subsidiary. As method, this chapter will show how using the G4 model results in a richer analysis and findings from qualitative data. In this study Swedish top-level managers working in Asia show how they foster an organization culture of continuous learning and change that supports the MNE's globalization efforts.

  • Civil Society and Financial Markets: What Is Not Happening and Why
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Citizens vs. Markets: How Civil Society Is Rethinking the Economy in a Time of Crises. - Abingdon, UK : Routledge. - 9780415830164 ; , s. 13-31
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Why have commercial financial flows - as a major force in contemporary society with a number of significant problematic consequences - attracted relatively little effective public-interest response from civil society? Change-oriented nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), labour unions, faith-based organizations, and other social movements have mostly remained in the shadows vis-à-vis private financial markets. Impacts from these citizen associations have not gone beyond promoting modest rises in pubic awareness, certain limited policy shifts, and minor institutional reforms of a few public governance agencies. The reasons for these scant achievements are partly related to capacities and practices in civil society groups, relevant governance agencies, and financial firms. Also important in constraining civil society impacts to reform and transform contemporary financial markets are deeper structural circumstances such as embedded social hierarchies (among countries, classes, etc.), the pivotal role of finance capital in accumulation processes today, and the entrenchment of prevailing neoliberal policy discourses.
