  • People with dementia as active agents in nursing homes : a scoping review
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: SAGE Open. - : Sage Publications. - 2158-2440. ; 13:2
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • People with dementia (PWD) are fragile and need aid and care in their daily lives. This scoping review explores the extent to which PWD can be involved in society and their daily lives. Publications were selected according to PRISMA guidelines. We graded the level of participation/involvement in daily life and research using a five-level participation model developed by Shier. A higher grade means a greater ambition to involve PWD in decisions. Of the 11 included studies, three reached level three according to Shier’s model. The studies describe ways of and potentials for participation, capabilities of PWD, caregivers’ opportunities to foster involvement, and cooperation between PWD caregivers and relatives. Caregivers and managers must have the attitude that PWD can be involved in decisions and caregivers need opportunities to actively promote such involvement. Shier’s model can be a tool with which organizations strive to involve PWD.

  • Informationshantering inom socialtjänsten : resurs eller hinder vid barn- och ungdomsärenden?
  • 1987
  • Ingår i: Social Forskning. - Stockholm : Delegationen för social forskning. ; :4, s. 12-14

  • Wicked problems : a mapping review of the literature
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Sustainable Development and World Ecology. - : Taylor & Francis. - 1350-4509 .- 1745-2627. ; 28:6, s. 481-502
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The term ‘wicked problems’ is today widely used in the sustainability literature, but there is no consensus on its theoretical underpinnings or its utility for research. This paper reports on a mapping review of the wicked problems literature for which we analyzed a sample of 55 papers regarding 1. whether and how the term ‘wicked problems’ is used as a theoretical concept, 2. what meanings are associated with the concept, 3. what epistemological assumptions are stated, and 4. what rhetorical functions the concept performs. The results indicate that the concept is not always consistently applied as a theoretical concept; that authors ascribe many different meanings to the concept; that authors use diverse epistemological assumptions that are not always made explicit; and that the concept performs a wide range of rhetorical functions. The results provide a vocabulary that enables sustainability researchers to more clearly position their work in the dispersed wicked problems literature.

  • Caregivers' use of robots and their effect on work environment : a scoping review
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of technology in human services. - : Taylor & Francis. - 1522-8835 .- 1522-8991. ; 40:3, s. 251-277
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Despite the lively discussion on the pros and cons of using robots in health care, little is still known about how caregivers are affected when robots are introduced in their work environment. The present scoping review fills this research gap by mapping previous studies about the relation between robots in care and caregivers’ working life. The paper is based on searches in four databases for peer-reviewed articles about robots in care settings, published 2000 to 2020. The 27 included papers were examined with the questions of 1) how robots are used by caregivers, and 2) how robots affect caregivers’ work environment. The analysis shows that the use of robots can affect both the physical and the psychosocial work environment, in positive as well as in negative ways. Robots are used in care settings to reduce physical and mental demands of the caregivers, but they can, in fact, increase caregivers’ workload. Thus, the review indicates that robots can improve the quality of work, but that they seldom work as a shortcut to increased efficiency or time effectiveness.

  • The Organization of Markets
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Organization Studies. - : SAGE Publications. - 0170-8406 .- 1741-3044. ; 36:1, s. 7-27
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Markets have sometimes been described as vastly different from and even opposite to formal organizations. But markets and organizations share a similarity as well. Both are organized – by the use of decisionson membership, rules, monitoring, sanctions or hierarchy. Market organization creates differencesamong markets, and specific dynamics, which can be explained by the actions and interactions of marketorganizers: profiteers, ‘others’, sellers and buyers. The concept of market organization is an analyticaltool, which can be used for analysing why and how markets are created, why they get their specific formand how they change.

  • Sustainable development : Agents, systems and the Environment
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Current Sociology. - : Sage Publications. - 0011-3921 .- 1461-7064. ; 64:6, s. 875-906
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This article provides an overview and analysis of sustainable development from a sociological perspective. It is divided into three parts. The first presents selected relevant sociological research before there was ever a concept of sustainable development'. The selected focus is on work falling under the rubrics of environmental sociology as well as development sociology. The second part briefly discusses the context and process that led to conceptualizing sustainable development'. The third part considers the response of several sociological theories to sustainable development issues, with the focus on a selection of four major system theories: world systems theory, neo-Marxist treadmill of production' theory, ecological modernization theory and modern systems theory, all of which have addressed development issues and more recently sustainability questions. The article ends by identifying an ongoing global transformation, the sustainability revolution, which can be compared and contrasted to the Industrial Revolution. Whether this emerging revolution will take place fast enough and comprehensively enough to save the planet earth from multiple disasters remains to be seen.

  • In search of a social pedagogical profession in schools : Missions and roles under reconsideration
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Social Pedagogy. - Anglesey, United Kingdom : UCL Press. - 2051-5804. ; 9:1, s. 1-19
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • School is one of the areas where social pedagogy has taken on an increasingly important function.Supported by available literature, the aim of this literature review is to describe and analyse how the workof social pedagogues in schools can be manifested. The literature review shows that social pedagogicalwork in schools is common in many countries and emerging in others. The study shows a wide variationboth between and within countries with regard to the mission and goals, status, role and function, tasksand activities of social pedagogues. The primary mission is inclusion of pupil groups or individualswith various types of psychosocial problems or school-related difficulties, followed by preventive workaimed at all pupils to counteract social exclusion in school, disciplining groups of pupils who are invarious ways disrupting or breaking school norms, a consciousness-raising and mobilising mission anda more general teaching mission aimed at citizenship and democratic upbringing. The literature reviewshows that social pedagogy as a profession enjoys high currency and relevance in schools with a view topreventing the segregation and exclusion of pupils.

  • Young People with Intellectual Disabilities and Social Media : A Literature Review and Thematic Analysis
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Scandinavian Journal of Disability Research. - : Stockholm University Press. - 1501-7419 .- 1745-3011. ; 21:1, s. 129-140
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: The aim of this review is to identify and analyse the research findings in the field of young people with intellectual disabilities and social media.Method: Twelve peer-reviewed papers published in well-established and recognized journals between 2001 and 2017 were identified from electronic database searches (Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar), the Internet (Facebook) and correspondence with experts. Results: Six topics were identified through thematic analysis of the texts: opportunities, risk and vulnerability, sexuality, identity, barriers and support. Conclusion: The latest research on young people with intellectual disabilities is characterized by issues of risk, vulnerability and support. The concept of positive risk-taking is suggested for the development of methodological approaches in practice and research. Furthermore, vulnerability, online and offline activities and identity formation should be examined more closely, and there is a call for new research methods in this area, for example observations and netnography.
