    • The evolution of CAST’s UDL Guidelines has been a dynamic, collaborative, and developmental process. We shared the first version of the Guidelines—Version 1.0—in 2008. Since that time, we have collected and specifically solicited feedback from the field. This feedback, along with the expanding research in the areas of UDL, education, cognitive science, psychology, and neuroscience, has led us to develop different representations of the Guidelines over time. Each of these representations has a particular goal and traces our learning not only as an organization but as a field more broadly. Version 2.2 (2018) This latest version—Version 2.2—does not represent the “correct” version. Instead, we see this version as yet another representation to more fully explore and articulate the promise of UDL. We have made several structural changes to the graphic organizer to better support educators and other stakeholders who are new to UDL and to more clearly articulate the goal of UDL. About the Graphic Organizer describes these structural changes in more detail, while our FAQ may help answer questions you have about the UDL Guidelines and their relationship to the UDL framework.

    • The Middle Neolithic graves on Gotland are characterized by a large amount of highly variable grave goods. Good conditions for preservation of bone have enabled the identification of sex and age. Men have commonly been described as hunters, primarily of seal and wild boar, and they have been associated with power, with battle axes and with imported goods.Women have been connected to beads, to the domestic sphere and to young children. However, a detailed scrutiny of the osteological identifications raises questions regarding this traditional view. Taking the relation to death and the handling of the dead into account, I have made a study of a small, well-chosen, selection of graves from the Ajvide site. The study shows that women can be associated with hunting, fishing and activities far away from home. Through stone crafts men have a strong connection to the domestic sphere and they too have a close connection to children. Beads are more common in male graves, while axes, mostly working axes, are more common in female graves. The women on the island have also been buried with both imported flint axes and battle axes. In the Middle Neolithic battle axeswere not only associated with male status, but also with female power and female leadership.

  • The developmental and professional activities of female international soccer players from five high-performing nations
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Journal of Sports Sciences. - : Informa UK Limited. - 0264-0414 .- 1466-447X. ; 38:11-12, s. 1432-1440
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We study the developmental and professional activities engaged in by 86 female adult soccer players from the senior national teams of Australia, Canada, England, Sweden, and the United States of America. Players completed the Participation History Questionnaire (PHQ) to elicit the amount and type of activities engaged in across their developmental and professional years, including milestones, soccer-specific activity and engagement in other sport activity. Greater specialisation than diversification characterised their childhood developmental activities, including all players starting in soccer in childhood and accumulating more hours in soccer activity than other sports during this period. However, interindividual variation further characterised these childhood activities, with a proportion of players diversifying into other sports and/or soccer play to a greater or lesser degree during childhood when compared to the other players. The amount of coach-led soccer practice increased for all players across their development culminating in an average of 15-16 h/wk across a 40-week season in early adulthood. In contrast, the amount of engagement in other sports and soccer peer-led play varied between players but generally decreased across adolescence to negligible amounts in late adolescence. Findings are commensurate with the deliberate practice framework and early engagement.
