  • Design and development of a photoswitchable DFG-out kinase inhibitor
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Chemical Communications. - : Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). - 1359-7345 .- 1364-548X. ; 57, s. 10043-10046
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report the synthesis and characterisation of a photoswitchable DFG-out kinase inhibitor. Photocontrol of the target kinase in both enzymatic and living cell assays is demonstrated.

  • Synthesis aided structural determination of amyloid-beta(1-15) glycopeptides, new biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Chemical Communications. - : Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). - 1359-7345. ; 50:95, s. 15067-15070
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Unique tyrosine glycosylated amyloid-beta(1-15) glycopeptides were synthesized with well-defined stereochemistry at the glycosidic linkages. Aided by these glycopeptides and tandem mass spectrometry analysis, the naturally existing amyloid-beta glycopeptides, isolated from Alzheimer's disease patients, were determined to contain an alpha-linked N-acetyl galactosamine at the modified tyrosine 10 residue. Glycosylation can significantly impact the properties of amyloid-beta as the glycopeptide has much lower affinity for Cu+ ions.

  • Nuclease activity as a specific biomarker for breast cancer.
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Chemical Communications. - : Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). - 1359-7345 .- 1364-548X. ; 52:83, s. 12346-12349
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report on the activity of nucleases derived from cancer cells as a means for specific targeting using nucleic acid probes (substrates). We hypothesize that cancer cells can be differentiated from healthy cells based on their nuclease activity profile, and thus, any method based on this property represents a novel alternative for diagnostic and therapeutic intervention.

  • Synthesis and anticancer properties of fucoidan-mimetic glycopolymer coated gold nanoparticles
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Chemical Communications. - : ROYAL SOC CHEMISTRY. - 1359-7345 .- 1364-548X. ; 51:40, s. 8532-8535
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Gold nanoparticles coated with fucoidan-mimetic glycopolymers were synthesized that displayed good colloidal stability and promising anti-cancer properties. Fucoidan mimetic glycopolymers on their own were nontoxic, while glycopolymer coated gold nanoparticles displayed selective cytotoxicity to human colon cancer cell lines (HCT116) while it was non-toxic to mouse fibroblast cells (NIH3T3).

  • Structural basis of the radical pair state in photolyases and cryptochromes
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Chemical Communications. - : Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). - 1359-7345 .- 1364-548X. ; , s. 4889-4892
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present the structure of a photoactivated animal (6-4) photolyase in its radical pair state, captured by serial crystallography. We observe how a conserved asparigine moves towards the semiquinone FAD chromophore and stabilizes it by hydrogen bonding. Several amino acids around the final tryptophan radical rearrange, opening it up to the solvent. The structure explains how the protein environment stabilizes the radical pair state, which is crucial for function of (6-4) photolyases and cryptochromes.

  • Novel chemoselective (18)F-radiolabeling of thiol-containing biomolecules under mild aqueous conditions
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Chemical Communications. - : Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). - 1359-7345 .- 1364-548X. ; 52:36, s. 6083-6086
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report a novel prosthetic group based on a heterocyclic methylsulfone derivative for the rapid, stable, and chemoselective (18)F-labeling of thiol-containing (bio)molecules under mild aqueous reaction conditions. Compared to established maleimide approaches, the new methodology displays some clear advantages for imaging probe development.

  • NanoKeepers : stimuli responsive nanocapsules for programmed specific targeting and drug delivery
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Chemical Communications. - : Royal Society of Chemistry. - 1359-7345 .- 1364-548X. ; 50:67, s. 9489-9492
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Bacterial resistance is a high priority clinical issue worldwide. Thus, an effective system that rapidly provides specific treatment for bacterial infections using controlled dose release remains an unmet clinical need. Herein, we report on the NanoKeepers approach for the specific targeting of S. aureus with controlled release of antibiotics based on nuclease activity. • Targeting cancer cells with controlled release nanocapsules based on a single aptamer
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Chemical Communications. - : Royal Society of Chemistry. - 1359-7345 .- 1364-548X. ; 49:13, s. 1285-1287
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Molecular gates have received considerable attention as drug delivery systems. More recently, aptamer-based gates showed great potential in overcoming major challenges associated with drug delivery by means of nanocapsules. Based on a switchable aptamer nanovalves approach, we herein report the first demonstration of an engineered single molecular gate that directs nanoparticles to cancer cells and subsequently delivers the payload in a controllable fashion. © 2012 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
