  • Pitfall trapping at Gården Under Sandet (GUS) 1995, Western Greenland
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Norwegian Journal of Entomology. - Oslo : Norwegian Entomological Society. - 1501-8415 .- 1894-0692. ; 70:2, s. 158-169
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • During archaeological excavations on the site of the Norse farm at Gården under Sandet (GUS), in Ameralik Fjord, south-west Greenland, the opportunity was taken to sample the modern ground-living insect fauna by pitfall trapping from a range of natural habitats for comparison with fossil assemblages from the medieval farm and its midden. Two species, the predatory bug Nabis flavomarginatus Scholtz, 1847 and small ladybird Nephus redtenbacheri Mulsant, 1846 are recorded for the first time in this part of Greenland, although there are earlier records from the sediments associated with medieval farms in the region and both have been regarded as Norse introductions. The minute staphylinid Mycetoporus nigrans Mäklin, 1853, added to the Greenland list from this material by Peter Hammond (in Buckland et al. 1998), was found to be common in most natural habitats around GUS. Grids of eight traps, four at ground level and four on posts, were set out in six localities defined by their vegetational characteristics and emptied three times over the month-long sampling period. The cicadellid Psammotettix lividellus (Zetterstedt, 1840) appeared in all ground traps being particularly abundant on the dwarf birch and sedge dominated floodplain, to which the polyphagous mirid bug Chlamydatus pullus (Reuter, 1870) appears confined.

  • Platyceraphron Kieffer, 1906 (Hymenoptera, Megaspilidae) in the Nordic countries
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Norwegian Journal of Entomology. - 1501-8415 .- 1894-0692. ; 63, s. 125-129
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The genus Platyceraphron Kieffer, 1906 with the species P. muscidarum Kieffer, 1906 is reported as new to Norway, caught in traps at two different locations. An old Swedish record which seems to have been forgotten is reviewed and one recent Swedish record added. No records are known from Finland and Denmark. Platyceraphron are remarkably dorsoventrally flattened wasps, and have been reported as parasitoids of subcorticeous flies, mainly Lonchaeidae.

  • Records of ticks (Acari, Ixodidae) from the Faroe Islands
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Norwegian Journal of Entomology. - 1501-8415 .- 1894-0692. ; 54:1, s. 11-15
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • New data are given on the tick fauna of The Faroe Islands. So far, three species of Ixodes arerecorded from the islands. I. uriae from Fratercula arctica, Uria algae and Rattus norvegicus;I. caledonicus from Fulmarus glacialis; and I. ricinus from Homo sapiens, Felis catus, Canisfamiliaris, Phylloscopus collybita and Oenanthe oenanthe. The possible regular presenceof I. ricinus on the archipelago is likely to increase the risk for transmission of tick-bornezoonotic pathogens, including Borrelia garinii, to humans.

  • A new species of Cordyla Meigen from Norway (Diptera: Mycetophilidae)
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Norwegian Journal of Entomology. - 1501-8415. ; 51, s. 137-143
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A new species of fungus gnats in the genus Cordyla Meigen, 1803, C. bomloensis sp. n., is described based on adult material from southwestern Norway. Both the male and the female are described, photographed and their terminalia figured. The new species belongs in the C.fusca-group. It seems to be most closely allied to C. brevicornis (Staeger, 1840) and C. pusilla Edwards, 1925 from which it is differing prevalently by structures of the male and female terminalia. Its seemingly isolated distribution in southwestern Norway is briefly commented on.

  • Fungus gnats (Diptera: Bolitophilidae, Diadocidiidae, Ditomyiidae, Keroplatidae and Mycetophilidae) from Møre og Romsdal.
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Norwegian Journal of Entomology. - 1501-8415. ; 54:2, s. 117-141
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Faunistic data on fungus gnats from the county of Møre og Romsdal in Norway are presented and all species known from the county are summarized in a checklist. Treatment of some 23000 specimens, collected with one Malaise trap and one window trap for a whole year each, resulted in the identifi cation of 315 species from a single site at Jordalsgrend, Sunndal municipality. Material from three other localities in Møre og Romsdal and a few previously published records adds 42 species, bringing the total up to 357 species belonging to the families Bolitophilidae (11), Diadocidiidae (6), Ditomyiidae (2), Keroplatidae (11) and Mycetophilidae (327). Ten of the species are considered to be new to science and three species represented with single females could not be identifi ed to species level. Records of 57 species are published for the fi rst time from Norway, including three species that have been listed from Norway without any published records. The 34 species included in the Norwegian 2006 Red Data List are commented on. The high species diversity found at Jordalsgrend reveals a new picture when compared with other surveys in the Nordic region, and may have implications for future forest management, as boreal-oceanic, old-growth, deciduous forests are underrepresented in most conservation plans.
