- The #metoo movement can serve as a case for how networked online environments can provide settings for the mobilization of social movements, while also entail serious risks for those involved. In Sweden, over hundred thousand people were engaged in activities against sexual harassments and abuse, where social media were used to collect testimonies and to draft and discuss petitions that were later published in print news media. While HCI research on trust focus on how people trust technical systems, the authorities behind the system, or the user generated data, trust between peers in vulnerable communities is less researched. In this study, based on semi-structured interviews and a survey that involved 62 organizers of the Swedish #metoo movement, we therefore look into the question of how a secure and supportive environment was achieved among participants despite the scale of the activism. The result shows how trust was aggregated over networks of technical systems, institutions, people, shared values and practices. The organizers of the petitions used tools and channels at their disposal such as e.g. already established social media contexts that enabled the #metoo petitions to be formed easily and spread quickly. Establishing a supportive culture based on recognition and shared values was central for the movement. However, when the activism was scaled up, strategies were used to increase security by clarifying rules and roles, limiting access to information, restricting access to groups, and limiting the scope of communication.

- Push!Music is a novel mobile music listening and sharing system, where users automatically receive songs that have autonomously recommended themselves from nearby players depending on similar listening behaviour and music history. Push!Music also enables users to wirelessly send songs between each other as personal recommendations. We conducted a two-week preliminary user study of Push!Music, where a group of five friends used the application in their everyday life. We learned for example that the shared music in Push!Music became a start for social interaction and that received songs in general were highly appreciated and could be looked upon as 'treats'.

- We present a model where media (e.g. music files) are autonomous entities that carry their own individual information. Our goal is to turn such files into autonomous, rule-following agents capable of building their own identities from interactions with other agents and users, We are exploring how collaborative filtering-like behaviour could emerge out of large ensembles of interacting agents, which are distributed over mobile devices in social networks. We have implemented a first version of the model in the form of a music player application for mobile devices, called Push!Music. This system takes advantage of active recommendations as well as implicit user activity to build a profile for each media file.

- This conceptual paper aims to explore judgment in the context of automated decision-making systems (ADS). To achieve this, we adopt a modern version of Aristotle's notion of phronesis to understand judgment. We delineate seven elements of judgment which provide insights into what humans are better at, and what AI is better at in relation to automated decision-making. These elements are sources of knowledge that guide action including not-knowing, emotions, sensory perception, experience, intuition, episteme, and techne. Our analysis suggests that most of these attributes are not transferable to AI systems, because judgment in human decision-making requires the integration of all which involves considering the contextual and affective resources of phronesis, and the competence to make value judgments. The paper contributes to unpack human judgment capacities and what needs to be cultivated to achieve 'good' AI systems that serves humanity as well as guiding future information systems researchers to explore human-AI judgment further.

Experiences of specialist social workers for asylum seeking patients at a large Swedish hospital

- Background In 2016, the Karolinska University Hospital introduced a one-year-project with a mobile team of five asylum social workers (ASW), specializing in migration. This study evaluates the ordinary hospital social workers (HSW) experiences of introducing ASWs for asylum seeking patients. Methods Descriptive analysis was made of answers from a questionnaire sent to all 144 HSW at the hospital (57% response rate). Qualitative content analysis was made of written comments. Results Of the HSWs, 51% always and 29% sometimes contacted an ASW in relation to asylum seeking patients. Of those who contacted an ASW, 74% stated that the ASWs increased the efficiency of care of asylum seeking patients. 65% agreed that ASWs had an improving effect on the quality of encounters between staff and asylum seekers. Also, 67% agreed that the ASWs off-loading function improved the HSWs working conditions. Even though the ASWs were working at two hospitals located in different parts of the region, 78% of HSWs found them to be available. The main reason to not always contact an ASW was that it was not necessary in the specific case (55%). A majority (66%) reported increased knowledge about asylum processes as an outcome of introducing the ASWs at the hospital. This was also highlighted in the written comments, where ASWs detailed and updated knowledge as well as established contacts with e.g. the Swedish Migration Board was emphasized. ASWs specialist competence enabled patients to quickly receive legally correct and accurate information, which decreased worries among patients as well as staff members. Conclusions The HSWs described the ASWs as being important to patients as well as to staff. The ASWs improved the quality of encounters between staff and asylum seekers and strengthened the patient’s right to health and social care. The HSWs also reported an off-loading function, improving the working conditions and the over-all efficiency of care.
