- We invite participants to this workshop with the purpose to explore participatory processes based on tactile and haptic methods within the framework of norm-critical methodology. The workshop is based on cases from the project ‘Tink – Idea development for available and inclusive open stormwater solutions`. Innovation- driven projects in urban planning are often based on technical aspects and deviate from social values. Through a norm-critical methodology, we argue that technical innovation needs to include social values based on intersectional analysis. Firstly, in the project Tink, that means that we work together across disciplines and focus areas, in an interdisciplinary environment with disability activists, researchers, practitioners, and municipal officials. Secondly, we state that norm critical methodology includes design processes based on inclusive methods in the notion of care, engagement and social inclusion. In a workshop environment, this means creating settings for people with different experiences and abilities.

Denna banbrytande utställning innehåller verk av ett femtiotal formgivare som avslöjar de dolda budskap som föremål omkring oss förmedlar och ger dig verktyg för att undergräva dem. Utställningen är en spegling av en stark rörelse bland formgivare att arbeta normutmanande, en rörelse som har rötter i kritisk design och aktivism.

- "Freedom of Movement" is to a large extent the music that Martina Almgren was commissioned to write for her tentet Oh Yeah Orchestra at the opening concert at Swedish Jazz Celebration in Gothenburg 2009. The original suite has here been supplemented with five parts. There’s a sort of red thread that makes me associate to different kinds of movement. The rhythmic is consistently the hub and characteristic of the music, it is heard in drum and percussion playing and permeates compositions and instrumentation and voices. The album was recorded and mixed by sound engineer Åke Linton together with Owe and Martina Almgren in Bohus Sound Recordings. Lisen Rylander Löve -Soprano and Tenor Saxophone, Björn Almgren - Soprano and Tenor Saxophone, Karin Burman - Voice. Magnus Broo - Trumpet, Niclas Rydh - Trombone and Tuba, Petra Lundin - Cello, Tommy Kotter . - A continuation of the collaboration with the Scottish alto saxophonist Laura Macdonald that started 2007 with the initiative "Jazz from Sweden". The album ”Open book” was recorded at Studio Epidemin in Gothenburg and contains compositions by both Laura och Martina. Release tour in Scotland with concerts in Glasgow, Edinburgh and St Andrews. - Electric bass and hand drums in an exuberant interplay - big music in a small format! Long-standing rhythm section Owe and Martina Almgren step forward in a newly formed duo. With a variety in musical expressions and arrangements they interpret jazz standards and play their own material in a most personal way. Contrast-rich, cohesive, playful and independent music. As a tribute to life! Duality is a collaboration between Martina Almgren and Owe Almgren. The aim is to explore interplay in duo format, to highlight the instruments bass and drums, which are often in the background in larger ensembles. To seek possibilities for an intimate interaction. To shape an independent and varied expression with a focus on rhythms and groove, but also moods of sincerity and depth. Create variety through changing playing styles, arrangements and soundscapes, to give each piece its own unique character to become an exciting whole. The music – jazz standards and original compositions by Martina and Owe – was recorded in the studio as a live performance, no extras. The music must also be able to be played at concerts in the same duo format. In collaboration with sound engineer Åke Linton, we shaped different soundscapes in the headphones already in the recording situation, which gave us as musicians impulses for new expressions and interactions and led the pieces to different characters. For me, who mostly plays the drum kit, playing with my hands on the drums is a tactile experience where I get close to the dynamics, can react quickly with small shifts, experience the sounds gain body and contour in a new way and become a good complement to playing drum set. - 2006 utsågs jag av dåvarande Rikskonserter att ingå i satsningen Jazz from Sweden initierat av Assembly Direct i Skottland, med syftet att sprida svensk jazz i Skottland. Min del i satsningen innebar att bilda en konstellation med den skotska altsaxofonisten Laura MacDonald, där kompositioner från oss båda bildade den gemensamma repertoaren. I gruppen ingick också pianisten Paul Harrisson och basisten Aidan O´Donnell. Med mycket liten tid för repetition stod vi på scen ett par timmar tillsammans efter vårt första möte och fick lita till vår lyhördhet och intuition. Ett fruktbart möte, det musikaliska samtalet kom genast igång. Vi upptäckte likheter i våra kompositioner, när det gäller användandet av rytmiska figurer och melodik, en förankring i folkton som gemensam musikalisk miljö. I detta projekt har mitt/vårt spel mycket handlat om att fånga nuet, följa med i varandras flow. Det ännu pågående samarbetet har innefattat flera turnéer i Skottland med återkommande spelningar på bla Edinburgh Jazz Festival och Glasgow Jazz Festival, samt flera turnéer i Sverige, bla på Swedish Jazz Celebration 2010. Med stöd av Rikskonserter, Musik i Väst, Assembly Direct Scotland.

- Majestic came about after a turbulent time in life, affected by exhaustion depression, as a way to process and artistically express myself. Music became an important companion in the healing process. I decided to just receive the music that came to me, to play and compose without preconceived notions of what the outcome would be. Encounters with nature and fellow musicians were sources of inspiration as well. The music were recorded in the studio together with the musicians: Elin Forkelid, Mattias Torell, Owe Almgren and me on drums. We recorded all the music together over two days. In retrospect, some edits have been made as well as the addition of more instruments, such as flute, voice and acoustic bass, to some of the compositions. Majestic is still difficult for me to distance myself from, the music feels in a way like a story about my time of illness, a time in upheaval. The recording also took place without really any rehearsals together with the musicians beforehand, which can possibly be heard as a restraint or some uncertainty on some of the songs. But it also mirrors the vulnerability of that time. Live performances during the year have developed the interaction between us and the songs have been given a broader expression. Review from LIRA 26 May 2023 "The first thing you encounter is airy and melodious jazz. Space for the mind to truly capture the melodies – composed by the brilliant drummer and bandleader Martina Almgren. Other musicians on the album are Elin Forkelid on saxophone, Mattias Torell on guitar and Owe Almgren on bass. Forkelid performs the melodies with a wonderful clarity. Torell who sometimes takes hold of the melodies with his soft sound, sometimes compers with a self-written place. As well as Owe Almgren's bass, which finds its place both in the melodic and the rhythmic. Together they create jazz that has a twist, while being low-key. The music takes off. But, occasionally, more lush songs come along. The song Asteroid – a drum solo with accompanying provided bordun. Lovely! Or the song Now, which brings to mind Albert Ayler or similar free and spiritual jazz players. But even in these songs it is filled with space. There is movement in the songs, although the form, usually, is more laid back. The down-to-earth and the atmospheric hold each other's hands through all nine songs on the album. A very good album.”
