  • 23rd Nordic Workshop on Bibliometrics and Research Policy 2018 Book of abstracts
  • 2018
  • Proceedings (redaktörskap) (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Initiated by Professors Olle Persson and Peter Ingwersen, bibliometric researchers in the Nordic countries have arranged annual Nordic workshops on bibliometrics since 1996. The general scope of the Nordic Workshop on Bibliometrics and Research Policy is to present recent bibliometric research in the Nordic countries, to create better linkages between the bibliometric research groups and their PhD students, and to link bibliometric research with research policy. The workshop language is English and the workshop is open to participants from any nation. The 23rd Nordic Workshop on Bibliometrics and Research Policy (NWB’2018) was organized by the Swedish School of Library and Information Science (SSLIS) at University of Borås, Sweden. It was held at University of Borås, on November 7-9th, 2018 with 100 participants. In total, we received 35 submissions. After reviewing the submissions, the program committee decided which papers were to be presented orally and which as poster presentations. 21 papers were accepted as oral presentations. These, as well as the titles of the two invited keynote talks and the abstracts of 9 posters, are presented as abstracts in these proceedings. The posters and oral presentation slides are also available for viewing and peer-feedback at figshare (with citable DOIs):https://doi.orgWe would like to thank all authors for their submissions, the session chairs and the keynote speakers, Fredrik Åström and Merle Jacob, for their contributions to the workshop and the student volunteers, for their diligent efforts during the workshop. Further, we would like to thank the sponsors for their generous financial support, without which the Nordic workshops could not be organised in their current form. The NWB’2017 website is at https://hb.se/nwb2018Follow on twitter as @nwb_2018 and #nwb2018

  • Eco-Technologies for Immobilizing Redox Enzymes on Conductive Textiles, for Sustainable Development
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Fiber Bioengineering and Informatics. - : Global Science Press. - 1940-8676 .- 2617-8699.
  • Proceedings (redaktörskap) (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The objectives of this work are to investigate the use of different eco-technologies as strategies for immobilization of redox enzymes on conductive carbon-based felts, to produce bio-functionalized textiles for a future use in sustainable applications while maintaining low environmental impact. Methods using cold remote plasma, electrically conductive biocompatible coating (PEDOT:PSS) and natural crosslinker for the enzyme (genipin) were tested and showed to be efficient in the intended applications. The enzymatic activity of the used glucose oxidase was maintained for multiple number of uses, and showed potential in sustainable wastewater treatment applications in bio-Fenton and bio-electro-Fenton setups.

  • Graphene-modified E-textiles: An industry relevant approach of doping and visualizing fully textile P-N junction diodes
  • 2020
  • Proceedings (redaktörskap) (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • Recently, graphene has been used to obtain (E)-textiles. From an industry-relevant perspective, it is essential to introduce a process that could be scaled-up. We applied a cost-effective dip-coating method using bio-sourced agents for chemical adsorption of graphene oxide (GO). Polyester and viscose woven fabrics were treated with an aqueous solution of glycerol (4 g.L-1) to overcome the electrostatic repulsion among fibers and GO and then dip-coated with a dispersion of GO. The results are homogeneous GO coating with one to a few layers of GO nano-sheets. Further, The GO was chemically reduced to rGO, by using tannic acid (10 g.L-1) as a bio-sourced reducing agent. This brings electrical conductivity to rGO nano-sheets having an electrical resistance of 2±1 and 10±4 kΩ/sq for polyester and viscose fibers respectively. Afterward, these E-textiles are both p-type and n-type doped, using nitrogen plasma treatment to prepare nitrogen-doped graphene as a p-type E-textile and electrochemical deposition of titanium on graphene as n-type Doped E-textiles. This increases the charge carrier density, consequently increasing the conductivity of the graphene. Doping rGO-modified textiles open up a visualization of the p-n junction fully-textile diodes and its further applications.

  • Information sharing between doctoral students and supervisors : Fixed roles and flexible attitudes
  • 2016
  • Proceedings (redaktörskap) (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Introduction. A small scale exploratory project was conducted in the faculties of social sciences at Vilnius University to explore information sharing between supervisors and doctoral students. Methods. Semi structured interviews were carried out with five pairs of supervisors and teachers to find out how they perceive the roles of each other in supervision process, which the areas of information sharing are and how they perceive the benefits of this information sharing. Analysis. The content analysis method was used to extract the qualitative categories from the interview data. Results. The supervisors perceive their role as a guide to information, research methods and research networks. The doctoral students confirm these roles of their supervisors, but lack opportunities for equal argument, just as the supervisors do. According to the supervisors, the doctoral students perform the roles of information receivers, producers and sharers of research results and also as 'pits' of information. The students do not perceive themselves as either the sharers of useful information with their supervisors, or ‘pits’ of information, but confirm the roles of information receivers and sharers of research results. Conclusions. The results have shown that the supervisors benefit from information sharing with doctoral students when they see interesting research data and results and discuss future research ideas. The students derive a wider range of benefits from information exchange with the supervisors from direct instructions on searching for articles to inclusion in research networks.

  • Journal of Praxis in Higher Education (JPHE)
  • 2019
  • Proceedings (redaktörskap) (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This journal is dedicated to praxis in higher education. A key assumption underpinning the journal is that education is a moral and political activity and that higher education and its practitioners cannot free themselves from moral nor political considerations. However, this assumption comes with several commitments. Rather than standing only from the outside looking in, as in positioning science or research as more valuable or important, this journal calls for the importance of a reflexive inside perspective (cf. Kemmis 2012; Walzer 1987). This implies taking the present structures, conditions, traditions and values – both internal and external – seriously, but also in situ when researching higher education (cf. Bendix Petersen, 2014). The journal is committed to research aimed at the transformation of existing practices and conditions in higher education. In particular, it is promoting research that has a transformative potential including both practical and theoretical dimensions of educational work and higher education research. It is also committed to the idea that through education research, one can seek to both promote justice as well as the capacity of people to express agency, and increase the possibilities provided by society at large to its members (cf. Fraser 2009). Research concerning praxis in higher education is thus both a theoretical position on a particular practice and itself an active engagement.  This journal welcomes contributions that are directly concerned with praxis in higher education or with research that is manifestly relevant to praxis in higher education.First issue 1(1) 2019:Editorial: ‘Another higher education journal—Really?’ By Melina Aarnikoivu, Kathleen Mahon, Marcus Agnafors, David M.
