- This chapter outlines the development of the Swedish Higher Education System that led to the evolution of the profession of research management and administration (RMA) in Sweden. Evolution from an informal network towards more formalised and structured work within the Swedish RMA community is highlighted. Discussion on the level of salaries development depending on the education level, gender, experience and roles are elaborated too. The majority of the Swedish RMA community are women, which does not differ from most other RMA communities around the world. Swedish Association of Research Managers and Administrators (SWARMA) is the bridge between national research and innovation funding agencies and researchers. SWARMA selected members actively participate in the reference groups for EU R&I programmes. The future for RMAs in Sweden looks bright!.

- This chapter addresses the difference between the intentions of the law and its application by using mobile telephony infrastructure development in Sweden as a case. Three possible pitfalls for policy management in general are concluded and analyzed. The first pitfall deals with legal complexity, which may be a result of piecemeal changes to the governing legal bodies over a longer time and is here argued to be of relevance for issues of public participation and access to justice. Another problematic pitfall concerns when law is internally contradictory without any clear hierarchy, which is exemplified below. The third possible pitfall, which often is a point of focus in sociology of law, concerns when extra-legal factors interfere in the legal decision-making without this being pronounced or acknowledged. This means that economy and politics can affect the application of law to the extent that legal security and predictability is jeopardized. These three possible pitfalls in policy represent issues of general character in the legal government of land use and spatial planning, and are here analysed from a socio-legal perspective.

- Rättssociologen Stefan Larsson tecknar vad han kallar en tankekarta runt beslutsprocesser och frågan om vem som bestämmer om vindkraften och på vilken kunskapsgrund detta görs. När det gäller beslutshierarkier beskriver Stefan Larsson vindkraftsutbyggnaden som en naturlig konflikt mellan nationella och lokala perspektiv, men menar att det är just kunskapstyperna som missas i debatten. Det är nämligen viktigt att skilja på den typ som har att göra med expertkunskap, som är av kalkylerande och optimerande karaktär, och därför ofta antar ett top-down-perspektiv, och den typ som är har sin bas i värdegrunder som kommuniceras fram, vilket förvisso oftare kan ses i en lokal kontext i vilken de nationella besluten måste implementeras.

- Herglotz functions inevitably appear in pure mathematics, mathematical physics, and engineering with a wide range of applications. In particular, they are the pertinent functions to model passive systems, and thus appear in modeling of electromagnetic phenomena in circuits, antennas, materials, and scattering. In this chapter, we review the basic theory of Herglotz functions and its applications to determine sum rules and physical bounds for passive systems.
