  • Plant extracts comprising at least a phenolic compound, for inducing the natural defence of a plant against a pathogen, such as phytophthora infestans
  • 2015
  • Patent (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • A sugar beet extract (SBE) induced defense in potato plants under green-house conditions and in field trial, without apparent toxicity for the plant. Treatment with SBE resulted in significant reduction of the size of Phytophthora infestans infection lesions and lower sporangia production. SBE had no apparent toxic effect, neither on the hyphal growth of the pathogennor on the germination of sporangia. SBE triggered PR-1 protein induction which suggests that the defense mechanism conferred by SBE could be via direct induced resistance. An array of phenolic metabolites and minerals was found in the SBE and constitutes potential inducers of the defense.

  • Transcriptional stimulation of autophagy improves plant fitness
  • 2017
  • Patent (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • The present invention provides to a method for enhancing the productivity of a plant by genetically modifying the genome of the plant to over-express at least one autophagy-related (ATG) protein selected from the group consisting of ATG5 and ATG7. The invention further provides a genetically modified plant characterized by over-expression of least one autophagy related (ATG) protein selected from the group consisting of ATG5 and ATG7.Additionally the use of a transgene encoding atleast one autophagy related (ATG) protein selected from the group consisting of ATG5 and ATG7for enhancing the productivity of a plantis disclosed.

  • Spider silk fusion protein structures for binding to an organic target
  • 2012
  • Patent (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • A protein structure capable of selective interaction with an organic target is provided. The protein structure is a polymer comprising as a repeating structural unit a recombinant fusion protein that is capable of selective interaction with the organic target. The fusion protein is comprising the moieties B, REP and CT, and optionally NT. B is a non-spidroin moiety of more than 30 amino acid residues, which provides the capacity of selective interaction with the organic target. REP is a moiety of from 70 to 300 amino acid residues and is derived from the repetitive fragment of a spider silk protein. CT is a moiety of from 70 to 120 amino acid residues and is derived from the C-terminal fragment of a spider silk protein. NT is an optional moiety of from 100 to 160 amino acid residues and is derived from the N-terminal fragment of a spider silk protein. The fusion protein and protein structure thereof is useful as an affinity medium and a cell scaffold material.

  • A METHOD FOR TREATING A PLANT MATERIAL
  • 2020
  • Patent (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • The present invention describes a method for treating a plant material, said method comprising the following steps: - exposing the plant material to vacuum impregnation in an aqueous solution; - applying a pulsed electrical field (PEF) treatment to the plant material in the aqueous solution before, simultaneously as or after exposing the plant material to vacuum impregnation in an aqueous solution; - applying a drying step to the PEF treated plant material for removing water/moisture from surfaces of the plant material before packing the treated plant material; said method also comprising an active step for preventing microbial contamination of the aqueous solution.

  • Stable amyloid beta monomers and oligomers
  • 2009
  • Patent (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • The invention provides monomeric and oligomeric amyloid beta peptide isomers that are resistant towards fibrillogenesis and their use as Screening reagents or antigens in methods and pharmaceutical preparations for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other conditions related to protein misfolding. The alanines at positions 21 and 30, in wild type amyloid beta peptide amino acid sequence, are according to the invention replaced by cysteins, which results in an intra molecular disulphide bond. The invention further provides transgenic animals expressing modified amyloid precursor proteins or amyloid beta peptides.

  • Anordning för vävnadsligering
  • 2009
  • Patent (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • A medical device (100) comprises an elongated, flexible band (110) equipped with ratchet members (120) and connected to a device head (130) having a channel (135) dimensioned for reception of the band (110). A lock member (140) is connected to the head (130) and configured to interlock the ratchet members (120) when the band (110) is pulled through the channel (135) to form a reverse-motion brake. A protrusion (160) is arranged in the head (130) in connection with the channel entrance. A matching protrusion receiving member (150) is provided in the band in connection with the band-head interface and is dimensioned for reception of the protrusion (160) when the band (110) is close to fully pushed into the head (130).
