• Search for doubly charged Higgs boson production in multi-lepton final states with the ATLAS detector using proton–proton collisions at √s=13TeV
• 2018
• Ingår i: European Physical Journal C. - Springer. - 1434-6044. ; 78:3
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• A search for doubly charged Higgs bosons with pairs of prompt, isolated, highly energetic leptons with the same electric charge is presented. The search uses a proton–proton collision data sample at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV corresponding to 36.1 fb - 1 of integrated luminosity recorded in 2015 and 2016 by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. This analysis focuses on the decays H± ±→ e±e±, H± ±→ e±μ± and H± ±→ μ±μ±, fitting the dilepton mass spectra in several exclusive signal regions. No significant evidence of a signal is observed and corresponding limits on the production cross-section and consequently a lower limit on m(H± ±) are derived at 95% confidence level. With ℓ±ℓ±= e±e±/ μ±μ±/ e±μ±, the observed lower limit on the mass of a doubly charged Higgs boson only coupling to left-handed leptons varies from 770 to 870 GeV (850 GeV expected) for B(H± ±→ ℓ±ℓ±) = 100 % and both the expected and observed mass limits are above 450 GeV for B(H± ±→ ℓ±ℓ±) = 10 % and any combination of partial branching ratios. © 2018, CERN for the benefit of the ATLAS collaboration.

• Measurement of the transverse momentum distribution of W bosons in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
• 2012
• Ingår i: Physical Review D (Particles, Fields, Gravitation and Cosmology). - American Physical Society. - 1550-2368. ; 85:1
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• This paper describes a measurement of the W boson transverse momentum distribution using ATLAS pp collision data from the 2010 run of the LHC at root s = 7 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 31 pb(-1). Events form both W -> e nu and W -> mu nu are used, and the transverse momentum of the W candidates is measured through the energy deposition in the calorimeter from the recoil of the W. The resulting distributions are unfolded to obtain the normalized differential cross sections as a function of the W boson transverse momentum. We present results for p(T)(W) < 300 GeV in the electron and muon channels as well as for their combination, and compare the combined results to the predictions of perturbative QCD and a selection of event generators.

• Limits to the Muon Flux from Neutralino Annihilations in the Sun with the AMANDA Detector
• 2006
• Ingår i: Astroparticle Physics. ; 24, s. 459-466
• Tidskriftsartikel (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
• A search for an excess of muon-neutrinos from neutralino annihilations in the Sun has been performed with the AMANDA-II neutrino detector using data collected in 143.7 days of live-time in 2001. No excess over the expected atmospheric neutrino background has been observed. An upper limit at 90% confidence level has been obtained on the annihilation rate of captured neutralinos in the Sun, as well as the corresponding muon flux limit at the Earth, both as functions of the neutralino mass in the range 100-5000 GeV.

• The IceCube Prototype String in AMANDA
• 2006
• Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments and Methods. ; A566, s. 169-181
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• The Antarctic Muon And Neutrino Detector Array (AMANDA) is a high-energy neutrino telescope. It is a lattice of optical modules (OM) installed in the clear ice below the South Pole Station. Each OM contains a photomultiplier tube (PMT) that detects photons of Cherenkov light generated in the ice by muons and electrons. ICECUBE is a cubic-kilometer-sized expansion of AMANDA currently being built at the South Pole. In ICECUBE the PMT signals are digitized already in the optical modules and transmitted to the surface. A prototype string of 41 OMs equipped with this new all-digital technology was deployed in the AMANDA array in the year 2000. In this paper we describe the technology and demonstrate that this string serves as a proof of concept for the ICECUBE array. Our investigations show that the OM timing accuracy is 5 ns. Atmospheric muons are detected in excellent agreement with expectations with respect to both angular distribution and absolute rate.

• A measurement of the calorimeter response to single hadrons and determination of the jet energy scale uncertainty using LHC Run-1 pp-collision data with the ATLAS detector
• 2017
• Ingår i: European Physical Journal C. - 1434-6044. ; 77:1
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• A measurement of the calorimeter response to isolated charged hadrons in the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. This measurement is performed with 3.2 nb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at root s = 7 TeV from 2010 and 0.1 nb(-1) of data at root s = 8 TeV from 2012. A number of aspects of the calorimeter response to isolated hadrons are explored. After accounting for energy deposited by neutral particles, there is a 5% discrepancy in the modelling, using various sets of GEANT4 hadronic physics models, of the calorimeter response to isolated charged hadrons in the central calorimeter region. The description of the response to anti-protons at low momenta is found to be improved with respect to previous analyses. The electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters are also examined separately, and the detector simulation is found to describe the response in the hadronic calorimeter well. The jet energy scale uncertainty and correlations in scale between jets of different momenta and pseudorapidity are derived based on these studies. The uncertainty is 2-5% for jets with transverse momenta above 2 TeV, where this method provides the jet energy scale uncertainty for ATLAS.

• A search for resonances decaying into a Higgs boson and a new particle X in the XH -> qqbb final state with the ATLAS detector
• 2018
• Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - 0370-2693. ; 779, s. 24-45
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• A search for heavy resonances decaying into a Higgs boson (H) and a new particle (X) is reported, utilizing 36.1 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at root s = 13 TeV collected during 2015 and 2016 with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The particle Xis assumed to decay to a pair of light quarks, and the fully hadronic final state XH -> q (q) over bar 'b (b) over bar is analysed. The search considers the regime of high XH resonance masses, where the X and H bosons are both highly Lorentz-boosted and are each reconstructed using a single jet with large radius parameter. A two-dimensional phase space of XH mass versus X mass is scanned for evidence of a signal, over a range of XH resonance mass values between 1 TeV and 4 TeV, and for X particles with masses from 50 GeV to 1000 GeV. All search results are consistent with the expectations for the background due to Standard Model processes, and 95% CL upper limits are set, as a function of XH and X masses, on the production cross-section of the XH -> q (q) over bar 'b (b) over bar resonance.

• Angular analysis of B-d(0) -> K* mu(+)mu(-) decays in pp collisions at root s=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector
• 2018
• Ingår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP). - 1126-6708. ; :10
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• An angular analysis of the decay B-d(0) -> K*mu(+)mu(-) is presented, based on proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The study is using 20.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected during 2012 at centre-of-mass energy of root s = 8TeV. Measurements of the K* longitudinal polarisation fraction and a set of angular parameters obtained for this decay are presented. The results are compatible with the Standard Model predictions.

• Charged-particle distributions at low transverse momentum in root s=13 TeV pp interactions measured with the ATLAS detector at the LHC
• 2016
• Ingår i: European Physical Journal C. - 1434-6044. ; 76:9
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• Measurements of distributions of charged particles produced in proton-proton collisions with a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV are presented. The data were recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 151 mu b(-1). The particles are required to have a transverse momentum greater than 100 MeV and an absolute pseudorapidity less than 2.5. The charged-particle multiplicity, its dependence on transverse momentum and pseudorapidity and the dependence of the mean transverse momentum on multiplicity are measured in events containing at least two charged particles satisfying the above kinematic criteria. The results are corrected for detector effects and compared to the predictions from several Monte Carlo event generators.
