The translation and development of Green IT in Japan
- 2012
-
In: The Japan Association for Management Information (JASMIN) Annual Conference 2012.
-
Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
- In this presentation, we discuss about movement of Green IT(GIT) in Japan using “Translation” (Latour,1986, Czarniawska and Sevon,1996). We think that we have three research perspectives of GIT— functional, interpretative, critical. “Translation” theory that we use is based on interpretative perspective. By this theory, we know how different actors construct organizational reality. And now, GIT import from USA to Japan in 2007, and it was translated by various Japanese agents (telecom companies, electronics companies, and related organizations). It is of particular note after 3.11. mega-earthquake disease. In this presentation, we clarify how GIT is translated in Japan and what practices are promoted by the translation.
