  • Lepka męskość : Poststrukturalizm, fenomenologia i podmiotowość w krytycznych studiach nad męskością
  • 2015
  • In: Teksty drugie. - 0867-0633. ; :2, s. 353-380
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Despite the recent consolidation of “critical studies on men” or “masculinity studies”, critics have pointed to a theoretical deficit. Berggren discusses how critical studies on men could benefit from engaging with contemporary post-structuralist feminist theory and feminist phenomenological accounts of subjectivity. His argument proceeds through a reading of John Stoltenberg as a post-structuralist feminist and of Victor Seidler as a feminist phenomenologist. He suggests that the study of masculinity can benefit from both traditions. Drawing in particular on Sara Ahmed’s innovative combination of poststructuralism and phenomenology, Berggren suggests an understanding of masculinity as “sticky”.

  • Urban fantasy : Literatura Niewidocznego
  • 2018
  • In: Creatio Fantastica. - : Idaho State University. - 2300-2514. ; 58:1, s. 7-27
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This article analyses the nature of urban fantasy by aggregating the claims, suggestions, and observations made by several different accounts of what urban fantasy is. These accounts comprise six scholarly sources and four sources written by people who are producers and purveyors of urban fantasy. An eleventh “account” is made up of the impressions conveyed by a vast number of book covers identified through Google Image Search. These eleven accounts are analysed with regard to their views on worlds and settings, cities and urbanity, central characters, and the sources of fantastic elements. Finally, the article presents how three major threads in the accounts reveal that urban fantasy has a central, thematic concern with the Unseen. This Unseen is largely related to a social Other that portrays unpleasant aspects of urban life, such as criminality, homelessness, addiction, prostitution, and physical and sexual abuse.

  • 2020
  • In: Przegląd Archeologiczny. - : Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology, Polish Academy of Sciences. - 0079-7138. ; 68, s. 17-46
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • In this paper, paratheatrical activities are defined and archaeological finds that may confirm their presence are indicated. They are first of all manifested through the burial type and certain forms of artefacts. The analysis of the phenomenon focuses on the Bronze Age in Central Europe. It is discussed in the context of the following archaeological cultures: the Únětice culture, the Tumulus culture, and the Urnfield culture.
