  • 14th NOLAMP Conference : The 14th Nordic Laser Materials Processing Conference, August 26th – 28th 2013, Gothenburg, Sweden
  • 2013
  • Samlingsverk (redaktörskap) (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Laser is a key element in obtaining a sustainable economy in Europe. Innovative laser processes will play a significant role in future green manufacturing as they provide a precise, well-controlled and highly effective energy deposition to the workpiece. Future challenges are to increase the spectrum of laser manufacturing technologies in all sectors where the laser can offer innovative product solutions, higher product quality, less environmental impact, higher productivity and in turn cost benefits. The NOLAMP conferences address all aspects of laser materials processing from fundamental science to industrial applications. The first NOLAMP conference took place in Oslo in 1987 in a period of intense development of the laser processes and their industrial applications. The NOLAMP has continued on a biannual cycle ever since, strengthening the Nordic laser community by encouraging knowledge transfer and networking. Now, 26 years later, in the forthcoming 14th NOLAMP, the research and development of processes like laser welding, laser hybrid welding, laser cutting and laser surface treatment is still very important, as well as the development of industrial applications and equipment for laser material processing. This time the NOLAMP Conference will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden. In this highly industrialized region of Sweden and with the close distance to Denmark, Norway and Finland, we hope to attract a strong participation from industry and the scientific community. On behalf of the Nordic laser community and Luleå University of Technology, it is our great pleasure to invite you to the 14th NOLAMP conference.

  • An improving working condition system (health, safety and ergonomics) survey and analysis with macroergonomics approach in a manufacturing company from Iran Power Plant Industry in 2010
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Iran Occupational Health. - 1735-5133 .- 2228-7493. ; 10:4, s. 55-64
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background and aims: World experience has shown the positive effect of applying ergonomics in improving work conditions, of quality and quantity of production, reducing prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders, saving costs and increase of productivity in the different contents. These are possible only with utilizing properly improving work condition system and Macroergonomics approach. The aim of the study was how determine situation and analyzing the working conditions using the macroergonomics approach in a Power Plant Industry. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study. First, the program for improvement of work conditions were evaluated using three questionnaires including managers viewpoint (29 samples), health, safety and environment employees viewpoint (5 samples) and operating workers viewpoint (85 samples) and then three other instruments of macroergonomics were used. Results: According to the results of 1) questionnaires and corresponding tests, three of the program's goals of improving working conditions and promotion practices that have the same opinions, but in some cases had different opinions. 2) Future workshops and interviews, the lack of participatory leadership and lack of collaborative work systems for the company stated. 3) Apply ergonomics checklist of ILO, an appropriate interaction between the top and bottom surfaces revealed. Conclusion: Awakened needs of change in the middle and lower levels of organization to solve problems relate to improving working conditions of the system was created. To implement an Ergonomics Intervention Programme Technique Process requires the full support management and employees.

  • Non-local damage models in manufacturing simulations
  • 2013
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Localisation of deformation is a problem in several manufacturing processes. Machining is an exception where it is a wanted feature. However, it is always a problem in finite element modelling of these processes due to mesh sensitivity of the computed results. The remedy is to incorporate a length scale into the numerical formulations in order to achieve convergent solutions. Different simplifications in the implementation of a non-local damage model are evaluated with respect to temporal and spatial discretisation to show the effect of different approximations on accuracy and convergence.

  • Hydraulic conductivity of tailings deposit used as dam construction material at Aitik mine in Sweden
  • 2013
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Distribution of vertical and horizontal hydraulic conductivity and their correlation to geotechnical parameters affecting the hydraulic conductivity of tailings deposit at Aitik mine have been determined. The investigation was carried out along three sections which cover approximately 3km2 of area and 4-5meters of thickness. 3-5 test pits have been excavated in each section and samples are collected from various levels. The horizontal hydraulic conductivity has been found to have a good relation with fraction of fine particles in the deposit and void ratio. However, similar to the results of Jantzer et al (2008) from the same mine, the vertical hydraulic conductivity did not correspond to void ratio. According to evaluation of existing empirical relations to estimate hydraulic conductivity from particle size analysis, Hazen formula (1911) gives 25 and 45 times the measured values of vertical and horizontal hydraulic conductivity respectively. On the other hand, Chapuis et al (2003) has not been succeeded for prediction of hydraulic conductivity of undisturbed samples from the investigated area. However, it gives comparatively good prediction of hydraulic conductivity for disturbed samples which are compacted to their field dry density.

  • One Hundred Years of Inertia: An Exposé of the Concept of the Psychosocial Work Environment in Swedish Policy and Research
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Nordic Journal of Working Life Studies. - : Det Kgl. Bibliotek/Royal Danish Library. - 2245-0157. ; 3:1, s. 5-29
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The purpose of this article is to describe a broader concept of the psychosocial work environment, a concept that not only is limited to the individual and her immediate environment but also takes into account a broader context that includes production technology as well as work organization and learning. Based on examples from Sweden, we discuss concepts and approaches to psychosocial work environment and how these have changed over time (e.g., how knowledge about the psychosocial work environment is used to understand and discuss health, management, and development—for individuals, groups, and organizations). The knowledge presented is not new; it has been around a long time. The title of the article—One Hundred Years of Inertia—shows some impatience on the part of its authors given that the pace of change in the work environment has not always been great.

  • Some new scales of refined Hardy type inequalities via functions related to superquadracity
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Mathematical Inequalities & Applications. - : Element d.o.o.. - 1331-4343 .- 1848-9966. ; 16:3, s. 679-695
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • For the Hardy type inequalities the "breaking point" (=the point where the inequality reverses) is p = 1. Recently, J. Oguntoase and L. E. Persson proved a refined Hardy type inequality with a breaking point at p = 2. In this paper we prove a new scale of refined Hardy type inequality which can have a breaking point at any p ≥ 2. The technique is to first make some further investigations for superquadratic and superterzatic functions of independent interest, among which, a new Jensen type inequality is proved
