- I föreliggande text redovisas ett metaforskningsprojekt där begreppsmässig analys av litteraturen har fokuserat språk och lärande i såväl formella utbildningssammanhang för Döva, som i vardagskontexter inom och utanför skolan. Följande typer av spörsmål har fokuserats: Vilka typer av texter ingår i den akademiska litteraturen? Vilka teoretiska och metodologiska mönster kan urskiljas? Vilka teman kan upptäckas i litteraturen? Vilkas röster kan höras och ges uppmärksamhet inom området?På ett övergripande plan kan sägas att humanistiska, socialvetenskapliga, naturvetenskapliga och teknologiska discipliner finns representerade ilitteraturen inom området “literacy och Dövpedagogik”. En ytterligare dominerande bild som urskiljts antyder att forskare och professionella inom området har fokuserat kommunikations former i försöket att kunna (implicit eller explicit) beskriva ”vad språket är”. Den orala-manuella-totalkommunikativa-tvåspråkiga debatten är tydlig i Dövpedagogikens historia. Dessa diskussioner utformar också nutidsförståelsen kring läsning och skrivning samt tvåspråkighet när det gäller döv utbildningssammanhang.Den analyserade litteraturen har kategoriserats i följande, övergripande teman: (i) litteratur som på ett eller annat sätt förespråkar bättre modeller eller praktik i skolvärlden; (ii) demografisk forskning; (iii) tvärkulturella studier; (iv) forskning kring ljud/talförstärknings-teknologier och/eller literacy-teknologier; och (v) tvåspråkighetsforskning. Teman som framträder i analys av litteraturen från senaste tiden kan förstås i termer av (vi) forskning om kommunikativa praktiker som utgör det sjätte temat.I boken urskiljs även perspektiv och frågor i den svenska litteraturen mot bakgrund av tendenser som har identifierats i den internationella litteraturen. Medan ett handikapp och medicinskt perspektiv har dominerat forskningsdagordningen i Sverige under förra seklet, har under de senaste 30 åren lingvistiska, psykologiska och sociologiska perspektiv blivit mer synliga. Utbildningsideologiska strömningar under hela denna period – från ett ”parallellfokus på olika modaliteter” till den ”orala” och senare den ”totalkommunikativa” och nu till den ”tvåspråkiga” modellen – verkar ha skett i frånvaro av kritiskt tänkande som tar pedagogiskt forskningsperspektiv som utgångspunkt. Utöver identifiering av framtida forskningsinriktningar i den svenska kontexten, uppmärksammas också frånvaro av inhemska eller emic röster i litteraturen.

- Can society beneft from an ageing population? This book explains how current and future generations can beneft from the longevity dividend in the coming decades, using multidisciplinary and international evidence.How? It depends on the strategic choices of countries. And if they act before the opportunity closes. Growing life expectancy will increase the active years of later life by 25 years or more, resulting in more than a quarter of the population aged over 65 years in many countries. The social, economic and cultural impacts of this phenomenon are massive as the population shifts from a youthful population to one with a large older population. This population structure includes a greater number of adults with knowledge and skills than before that can contribute to society compared to fewer adults living shorter lives. Their contributions can be economically and socially productive by increasing growth, reducing costs as well as advancing social progress. The longevity dividend is realized because the total contributions of societal and economic value increase because there are more citizens contributing during longer lives. The longevity dividend is the windfall gain in economic growth and social progress gained during this once only population shift. Society retains this gain and then continues growth from the peak benefitting future generations. The two ways to increase the dividend are to increase the total contributions that beneft society and to improve the quality of these contributions over the lifetime of citizens through lifelong learning. Increased contributions during the prolonged lives of the entire population result in a productive society. Informed countries will make deliberate choices to gain a greater longevity dividend during this one-time opportunity to beneft from greater life expectancy.

- This book is all about dementia in Ireland and what has and has not been happening in a country where dementia has been a taboo topic for so long. In particular it examines the dementia landscape since late 2014, following the launch of Ireland's first National Dementia Strategy. A lot has happened in Ireland since that time but a lot more needs to happen for people to live well with dementia and have their human rights upheld. There are an estimated 55,000 Irish people living with dementia and these figures are set to triple by 2050. Although topics explored in the book,such as obtaining a diagnosis, accessing home care services and moving from home into a nursing home relate to Ireland, they are discussed against the backdrop of policy, practice and research developments in dementia in other parts of the world. In this way the book provides the reader with a wealth of information including research evidence, best practice guidelines and international expertise. The book has been dedicated to Mnánah 'éireann, in recognition of the hard physical and emotional work, caregivers,mostly women do behind closed doors. Throughout the book, an appeal is made for more state support to be given to these formal and informal caregivers.

- La littérature francophone, écrite en français par les écrivains nés en dehors de l’Hexagone, constitue un vaste ensemble de textes qui ne circulent pas sous les mêmes conditions. Certaines littératures restent invisibles alors que d’autres traversent les frontières en étantpar exemple traduites et commentées dans la presse à l’étranger. Si l’on s’est souvent attardé à examiner la réception des littératures francophones dans le centre parisien, peu d’études portent sur le rôle que jouent les pays décentrés non francophones dans le transfert de ces littératures. En prenant le cas de la Suède, ce livre dégage les pratiques contemporaines qui sont en jeu dans la traduction, la médiation et la lecture des littératures francophones en Suède et s’interroge pour savoir comment ces littératures sont renégociées par la périphérie. Quels sont les auteurs, les genres littéraires, les zones géographiques francophones les plus prisés en Suède ? Qui sont ces médiateurs désirant faire circuler les auteurs francophones ? Quel est le canon littéraire francophone que transmet la Suède ?Peut-on dégager des inégalités dans ce transfert littéraire ?
