- We study, from an experimental point of view, the main ways to detect standard high mass Higgs bosons (from 300 Gev up to about 1 TeV) when they decay into W- and Z- pairs at the SSC. We also consider the corresponding W- and Z”-pair continuum which may itself provide interesting physics, and we pay some attention to the case of an intermediate mass charged Higgs decaying into rvr, (met =300 GeV). We first explain why and how high energy pp colliders may search for Higgs’ and we compare their possible performances to those of the e+e- and ep colliders at all possible m-s scale (from few tens of GeV’s up to 1 TeV). We then estimate the rates of the signals and the main backgrounds. Wede5ne the main characteristics of these events as reproduced by M.C. generators (especially implemented with these processes) and simulated through an idealiied In fine-grained calorimeter. A trigger strategy for W- and Z-pairs is derived from this study.

The Finite Difference Methods for Multi-phase Free Boundary Problems

- This thesis consist of an introduction and four research papers concerning numerical analysis for a certain class of free boundary problems. Paper I is devoted to the numerical analysis of the so-called two-phase membrane problem. Projected Gauss-Seidel method is constructed. We prove general convergence of the algorithm as well as obtain the error estimate for the finite difference scheme. In Paper II we have improved known results on the error estimates for a Classical Obstacle (One-Phase) Problem with a finite difference scheme. Paper III deals with the parabolic version of the two-phase obstacle-like problem. We introduce a certain variational form, which allows us to definea notion of viscosity solution. The uniqueness of viscosity solution is proved, and numerical nonlinear Gauss-Seidel method is constructed. In the last paper, we study a numerical approximation for a class of stationary states for reaction-diffusion system with m densities having disjoint support. The proof of convergence of the numerical method is given in some particular cases. We also apply our numerical simulations for the spatial segregation limit of diffusive Lotka-Volterra models in presence of high competition and inhomogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions.

- This chapter reviews the scope and meaning of the right to health under international law. Drawing on public health discourses and expanding beyond a right to health care, the contours of the right to health have been clarified—to encompass a wide range of social, political, and economic determinants of health—by the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights in its General Comment 14, by academics in the fields of law and public health, and by national governments in their domestic laws and judicial interpretations. The normative content of the right to health now provides a foundation for state obligations to respect, protect, and fulfill the right to health; limitations on other rights for public health goals; the right’s essential attributes of availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality; the minimum core obligations of the right to health; and the progressive realization of health-related human rights.
