  • Personalized Support with ‘Little’ Data
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Creating Value for All Through IT. IFIP WG 8.6 International Conference on Transfer and Diffusion of IT, TDIT 2014, Aalborg, Denmark, June 2-4, 2014. Proceedings. - 1868-4238. - 9783662434581 ; 429, s. 355-358
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper we look at opportunities to support the creation of value for all through the use of end-user-owned Virtual Personal Assistant. We use a chat-bot as example of technology with a possibility for transferring and diffusing new functionality, features and capabilities. This category of software can create potential value through its AI and natural language processing combined with emulation and imitation of emotional engagement which is personal, private and as such allows for intimate contextual relevance to be developed.

  • Creating a new leverage point for information systems development
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Designing information and organisations with a positive lens. - Amsterdam : JAI Press Ltd. - 0762312874 ; , s. 75-95
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • We present a new approach that shifts the leverage point of information systems development from problem orientation to opportunity development. Our approach, entitled FormIT, employs a careful focus on enhanced user involvement, concentrating on users as human beings, and attention to users’ needs as opposed to system requirements. As theoretical and methodological foundations, we build on the 4-D cycle model of Appreciative Inquiry and current research on needfinding. Our field experience demonstrates that FormIT shifts the systems development process from being reactive to being proactive, and in turn, enables a smoother implementation of inevitable change, particularly radical change. Moreover, FormIT stimulates the generation of rich local knowledge and helps reveal deep insights into the development process and the overall organization.

  • Living lab : An open and user-centric design approach
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Information and communication technologies, society and human beings. - Hershey, PA : Information Science Reference. - 9781609600594 ; , s. 190-207
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this chapter we focus on a new research area, Living Lab that introduces new ways of managing innovation processes. A Living Lab can be viewed as both an innovation milieu and an innovation approach, and the aim of this chapter is to clarify these two perspectives, as well as to illustrate how they can enrich each other. This is done by presenting one Living Lab milieu, Botnia Living Lab, and its key components; and one Living Lab approach, FormIT, and its key principles. The presentation is done on two levels, one general level and one case specific level. The case focuses on involving citizens in the design of an e-service aimed to increase their influence in a municipality and its development. Through this we learnt that the key components of a Living Lab constitutes important structures that enhance the process and as such the principles

  • Exploring Inequalities in Platform-Based Legal Work
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Experiencing the New World of Work. - : Cambridge University Press. ; , s. 109-135
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The aim of this chapter is to examine the neglected area of platform work and inequalities. Drawing on Acker’s theoretical frame of inequality regimes, this study investigates whether platform work reproduces and/or augments inequalities. Extant research on platforms has focused predominantly on lesser-skilled work based on repetitive transactions; in contrast, we explore experiences of higher-skilled work, specifically the provision of legal services. A qualitative approach was adopted based on participants using the People Per Hour (PPH) platform, which offers high-skilled professional services targeted at the small-business market. The study is situated in the context of structural disadvantages in the legal profession. Our findings show that persistent inequalities within the offline legal profession are not simply mirrored, but amplified in platform work, contesting any optimistic claims that platform work has the potential to act as a leveller.

  • Living Labs are innovation catalysts
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Innovation through Knowledge Transfer 2010. - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Science+Business Media B.V.. - 9783642205071 ; , s. 253-264
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Living labs are increasingly facilitating new ways to stimulate innovation. They offer the possibility to catalyse how innovation can be carried out, focusing on user communities supported by information technology. However, living labs are poorly understood by the business community, in particular by small to medium companies who arguably have the potential to benefit most from accessing the services provided by living labs. This position paper sets out the context for the rising popularity of living labs, explaining how public-private-academic partnerships offer new ways or carrying out innovation activities that are increasingly user-orientated. The paper also discusses the issues and opportunities arising from this new approach.
