- De stora miljö- och samhällsproblemen kommer inte ensamma. De är sammankopplade på olika sätt. Detta innebär utmaningar men ger också möjligheter att utveckla åtgärder och lösningar. Det gäller både för klimatfrågan och frågan om att motverka förlusten av biologisk mångfald och ekosystem. Kunskapens betydelse för att hantera dessa och andra aspekter är ovärderlig, såväl kring specifika frågeställningar som kring omständigheter och förutsättningar för åtgärdsarbetet.Den här kunskapssammanställningen har gjorts av forskare från Lunds universitet och Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet på uppdrag av Naturvårdsverket och SMHI. Forskarna har tagit avstamp i de omfattande kunskapsutvärderingar som gjorts av den mellanstatliga klimatpanelen (IPCC) och den mellanstatliga plattformen för biologisk mångfald (IPBES). Slutsatserna från IPCC och IPBES sätts i ett svenskt perspektiv, bland annat genom utvalda exempel vilka fungerar som aktuella illustrationer av hur klimatförändringar påverkar biologisk mångfald och ekosystem i Sverige.

Road haulier competition : Implications for supply chain integration

- Purpose Road hauliers are under substantial competitive pressure. We aim to better understand road haulier competition and its implications in terms of integration and competence in the logistics service supply chain and industrial supply chain. Design/methodology/approach Comparative cases of trucking and competition are constructed from Swedish and Polish case studies (interviews, observation and secondary material). Our qualitative approach involves researchers and actors of the road transport chain that collaboratively create understanding of development in the road transport business. Findings A transaction and low cost focus might lead to prices which cannot cover the normal expenses for vehicle maintenance, salary and fuel, exploiting drivers sleeping in the truck cabins for weeks and vehicles which are not well maintained. We also find low cost and competent small transport firms driving vehicles with low environmental impact, and with good safety performance. Many industrial firms strive for integration but neglect integration of the logistics and transportation services chain, thus sacrificing integration and competence in the supply chain as well as sustainability. Research limitations/implications The study explores rather than proves shortcomings in supply chain management. Future process research approaches can facilitate theory building on operational and strategic interactions of the industrial supply chain and the logistics service chain. Practical implications By having CSR requirements but not enforcing them in the transport chain, transport buyers may be contributing to a system of extreme low cost transportation competition where long-term performance is poor especially on social and environmental aspects. Original/value The industrial supply chain and the logistics service chain is investigated as an interrelated network.

Controlling Charge and Energy Transfer Processes in Artificial Photosynthesis : From Picosecond to Millisecond Dynamics

- This thesis describes an interdisciplinary project, where the aim is to mimic the initial reactions in photosynthesis. In photosynthesis, the absorption of light is followed by the formation of charge-separated states. The energy stored in these charge-separated states is further used for the oxidation of water and reduction of carbon dioxide. In this thesis the photo-induced processes in a range of supramolecular complexes have been investigated with time resolved spectroscopic techniques. The complexes studied consist of three types of units; photosensitizers (P) capable of absorbing light, electron acceptors (A) that are easily reduced and electron donors (D) that are easily oxidised. Our results are important for the future design of artificial photosystems, where the goal is to produce hydrogen from light and water. Two molecular triads with a D-P-A architecture are presented. In the first one, a photo-induced charge-separated state was formed in an unusually high yield (φ>90%). In the second triad, photo-irradiation led to the formation of an extremely long-lived charge-separated state (τ = 500 ms at 140K). This is also the first synthetically made triad containing a dinuclear manganese unit as electron donor.Further, two sets of P-A dyads are presented. In both, the expected photo-induced reduction of the electron acceptor is diminished due to competing energy transfer to the triplet state of the acceptor.Finally, a P-P-A complex containing two separate photosensitizers is described. The idea is to produce high-energy charge-separated states by using the energy from two photons.
