  • Limiting Heterovalent B-Site Doping in CsPbI3 Nanocrystals : Phase and Optical Stability
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: ACS Energy Letters. - : AMER CHEMICAL SOC. - 2380-8195. ; 4:6, s. 1364-1369
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • B-site doping with various metal ions in alpha-CsPbI3 has been proven to be a potential approach in bringing phase stability to these nanocrystals. However, while the doping of various homovalent ions in replacing Pb(II) has been extensively studied, heterovalent doping was observed to be limited. To understand the impact of heterovalent doping, Sb(III) was chosen here as an effective dopant for occupying the Pb(II) position in CsPbI3 nanocrystals. Importantly, it was observed that insertion of Sb(III) also stabilized the crystal phase of these red-emitting nanocrystals, but only with limited doping. However, with more intake, the cube shape turned to platelet and therefore also reduced the stability. Details of the insights of formation of these doped nanostructures are investigated, and further, these were implemented for photovoltaic application and comparable efficiency was recorded.

  • Reversible Atomization and Nano-Clustering of Pt as a Strategy for Designing Ultra-Low-Metal-Loading Catalysts
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physical Chemistry C. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1932-7447 .- 1932-7455. ; 126:38, s. 16194-16203
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Noble metal-based catalysts have numerous industrial uses, and maximum utilization of the precious metals by lowering the metal loading is of significant interest in heterogeneous catalysis research. However, lowering the metal loading could lead to single-atom metal species formation, which may not be active for important reactions like propylene oxidation. We report a way to drastically reduce precious metal loading of catalysts by judiciously choosing an active metal/support pair and using the reversible atomization-nanoparticulate formation of transition metal on a high-surface area support. Here, Pt and MgAl2O4 are used as the transition metal and high-surface area support, respectively. Through catalytic testing and characterization using scanning transmission electron microscopy and synchrotron X-ray absorption spectroscopy, a reversible change between atomization and nano-cluster formation under oxidizing and reducing conditions has been found. Via density functional theory, favorable sites for reversible Pt adsorption are identified, including ionic Pt4+ sites that can serve to nucleate nanoclusters. Catalytic reaction modeling also rationalizes the catalytic inertness of atomic Pt sites. Finally, a re-activation mechanism for the atomized Pt based on gases present during reaction has been formulated and demonstrated.

  • A Brief Study To Cloud
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Scientific & Engineering Research. - : Research Publication I J S E R. - 2229-5518. ; 8:3, s. 50-54
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Cloud Computing is a versatile technology that can support a broad-spectrum of applications. The low cost of cloud computing and its dynamic scaling renders it an innovation driver for small companies, particularly in the developing world. Cloud deployed enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management applications (SCM), customer relationship management (CRM) applications, medical applications and mobile applications have potential to reach millions of users. In this paper, we explore the different concepts involved in cloud computing. Leveraging our experiences on various clouds, we examine clouds from technical, and service aspects. We highlight some of the opportunities in cloud computing, underlining the importance of clouds and showing why that technology must succeed. Finally, we discuss some of the issues that this area should deal with.

  • Maneuvering the Physical Properties and Spin States To Enhance the Activity of La-Sr-Co-Fe-O Perovskite Oxide Nanoparticles in Electrochemical Water Oxidation
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: ACS Applied Energy Materials. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 2574-0962. ; 1:7, s. 3342-3350
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Perovskite oxides have attracted considerable attention as durable electrocatalysts for metal-air batteries and fuel cells due to their precedence in oxygen electrocatalysis in spite of the complexities involved with their crystal structure, spin states, and physical properties. Here we report optimization of the activity of a model perovskite system La1-xSrxCo1-yFeyO3-delta (LSCF; x = 0.301, y = 0.298, and (delta = 0.05-0.11) toward electrochemical water oxidation (OER) by altering the calcination temperature of the nonaqueous sol-gel synthesized nanoparticles (NPs). Our results show that improved OER activity is the result of a synergism between its morphology, surface area, electrical conductivity, and spin state of the active transition metal site. With an e(g) orbital occupancy of 1.26, the interconnected similar to 90 nm LSCF NPs prepared at 975 degrees C (LSCF-975) outperforms the other distinguishable LSCF morphologies, requiring 440 mV overpotential to achieve 10 mA/cm(2), a performance comparable to the best-performing perovskite oxide electrocatalysts. While the interconnected NP morphology increases the propensity of electronic conduction across crystalline grain boundaries, the morphology-tuned high spin Co3+ ions increases the probability of binding reaction intermediates at the available surface sites. Density functional theory based work function modeling further demonstrates that LSCF-975 is the most favorable OER catalyst among others in terms of a moderate work function and Fermi energy level facilitating the adsorption and desorption of reaction intermediates.

  • Administration of soluble gp130Fc disrupts M-1 macrophage polarization, dendritic cell activation, MDSC expansion and Th-17 induction during experimental cerebral malaria
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: International Immunopharmacology. - : ELSEVIER. - 1567-5769 .- 1878-1705. ; 123
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Regulatory effect of IL-6 on various immune cells plays a crucial role during experimental cerebral malaria pathogenesis. IL-6 neutralization can restore distorted ratios of myeloid dendritic cells and plasmacytoid dendritic cells as well as the balance between Th-17 and T-regulatory cells. IL-6 can also influence immune cells through classical and trans IL-6 signalling pathways. As trans IL-6 signalling is reportedly involved during malaria pathogenesis, we focused on studying the effects of trans IL-6 signalling blockade on various immune cell populations and how they regulate ECM progression. Results show that administration of sgp130Fc recombinant chimera protein lowers the parasitemia, increases the survivability of Plasmodium berghei ANKA infected mice, and restores the distorted ratios of M1/M2 macrophage, mDC/pDC, and Th-17/Treg. IL-6 trans signalling blockade has been found to affect both expansion of myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) and expression of inflammatory markers on them during Plasmodium berghei ANKA infection indicating that trans IL-6 signalling might regulate various immune cells and their function during ECM. In this work for the first time, we delineate the effect of sgp130Fc administration on influencing the immunological changes within the host secondary lymphoid organ during ECM induced by Plasmodium berghei ANKA infection.
