  • Designing the city : challenges and opportunities in digital public service design
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: C&T '23. - New York : Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). ; , s. 266-269
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Municipalities around the world have become increasingly reliant upon digital technologies in their everyday operations. In pursuit of a faster, cheaper, and more efficient local government, service platforms and applications that mediate citizen-government inter- actions, smart city infrastructures, and automated decision-making systems have proliferated. More recently, digital technologies are also sought to address socially complex issues and foster civic en- gagement. These ambitions, motivated by both rational and demo- cratic perspectives, however, confront many challenges such as de- signing with wide heterogeneous groups, navigating organizational structures, and dealing with the political agendas and conflicting perspectives of multiple stakeholders. Designing digital technolo- gies for municipalities, therefore, requires an ability to address the technical, social, institutional, and political challenges critically, practically, and holistically. This hybrid workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners to (1) explore how this could be achieved and (2) map the existing and emerging challenges and opportunities for designing public digital services and technologies.

  • Both CD4(+) FoxP3(+) and CD4(+) FoxP3(-) T cells from patients with B-cell malignancy express cytolytic markers and kill autologous leukaemic B cells in vitro.
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Immunology. - : Wiley. - 0019-2805 .- 1365-2567. ; 133:3, s. 296-306
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • P>Cytotoxic CD4+ T cells have been found in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and seem to be involved in the regulation of malignant B cells. The CD4+ T regulatory cells (Tregs) can regulate various immune cells, including B cells, by inducing their apoptosis. Hence, different subgroups of CD4+ T cells may be involved in the regulation of malignant B cells. In this study, the cytotoxic phenotype and function of various CD4+ T-cell subgroups were investigated in patients with B-cell malignancies. Peripheral blood was collected from patients with CLL, various B-cell lymphomas, healthy adult donors, children with precursor B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (pre-B ALL) and from healthy children. CD4+ T cells (CD3+ CD4+ FoxP3-), Tregs (CD3+ CD4+ CD127low FoxP3+) and CD127high FoxP3+ T cells (CD3+ CD4+ CD127high FoxP3+) were analysed for their expression of the cytolytic markers CD107a and Fas ligand. Patients with CLL had increased CD107a expression on all tested T-cell subgroups compared with healthy donors. Similar results were found in patients with B-cell lymphomas whereas the CD107a expression in children with pre-B ALL was no different from that in healthy controls. Fas ligand expression was similar between patient cells and cells of healthy donors. CD4+ T cells and Tregs from patients with CLL and healthy donors were subsequently purified and cultured in vitro with autologous B cells. Both subgroups lysed B cells and killing was confirmed by granzyme ELISAs. In conclusion, cytotoxic populations of CD4+ T cells, including Tregs, are present in patients with B-cell malignancy and may be an important factor in immune-related disease control.

  • Facilities Management and Health Care at Home
  • 2007
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The topic of this thesis is the new requirements that will be put upon the facilities management when the elderly are living longer in their own homes, in spite of illness, impairment and old age. For many reasons, especially demographic ones, this issue has come to the fore and since it has substantial political impact and considerably affects our living conditions, it will most certainly appear on the agenda of most Swedish housing companies in the near future. The growing number of inhabitants in need of care and rehabilitation is a current subject in many countries of the industrial world. More medical conditions can be treated, but often at an ever increasing cost. Care and housing are often interlinked and more interest is being paid to the possibility of offering care to elderly in their own homes. This development must lead to a discussion of the home as a hospital ward from time to time, and the demands it places on facilities management and security. So far the prospects of telecare services and "Smart homes" has been very little discussed in parallel, although in many aspects they share the same technological base. The principal interest of the housing companies is to find a role in accordance with their mainstream business, and at the same time co-operate with other municipal actors directly in charge of offering assistance and service. There has been only limited study and research into the complex interaction between technology, home-based social service and the housing company. The purpose here is to develop an understanding of the requirements placed on both the housing company and the CP when a tenant is to be subjected to minor and more extensive care at home, or suffers from an illness or an impairment which requires special equipment or technical adjustment in the home. A model to interpret this situation has been developed in this thesis.

  • 3D-Scanning for Weld Distortion Measuring
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference, 2006. IMTC 2006. Proceedings of the IEEE. - : IEEE conference proceedings. - 0780393600 - 0780393597 ; , s. 2132-2137
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Optical three dimensional scanning for weld distortion measurements have been performed for validation, inspection, general visualization and documentation of a robotized welding process. The planning, preparing and processing of the weld is done in a simulation-based concept where computer aided robotics software simulations are integrated with finite element analysis simulations with the objective to reduce global geometrical deformation during welding. The off-line programmed robot paths were used as an input for finite element calculations of temperature fields and distortion in the work piece. In order to validate the finite element model 3D-scannings have been performed before and after every single welding sequence. This paper describes a validation experiment with non-contact measurements of weld distortion and discusses limitations in optical 3D-scanning techniques used for this purpose

  • Weld gap position detection based on eddy current methods with mismatch compensation
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of JOM 18 International conference on joining materials, Helsingör, Danmark, april 26-29, 2015. - : JOM-institute. ; , s. 1-9
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The paper proposes a method for finding the accurate position of narrow gaps, intended for seam tracking applications. Laser beam welding of butt joints, with narrow gap and weld width, demand very accurate positioning to avoid serious and difficult to detect lack of fusion defects. Existing optical and mechanical gap trackers have problems with narrow gaps and surface finish. Eddy current probes can detect narrow gaps, but the accuracy is affected by mismatch in height above the surface on either side of the gap. In this paper a non-contact eddy-current method, suitable for robotic seam tracking, is proposed. The method is based on the resistive and inductive response of two absolute eddy current coils on either side of the gap to calculate a position compensated for height variations. Additionally, the method may be used to estimate the values of height and gap width, which is useful for weld parameter optimization. To investigate the response to variations in height, the method is tested on non-magnetic metals by scanning one commercially available eddy current probe across an adjustable gap and calculating the expected response for a two-probe configuration. Results for gap position are promising, while mismatch and gap width results need further investigation.
