- Several features in the school environment affect pupils with disabilities, serving as either supports or barriers to their school participation. The purpose of this study was to investigate and look for differences in the pupil-environment fit of students with physical and psychosocial limitations, using the School Setting Interview (SSI). The SSI is a client-centred instrument, which focuses on school activities where adjustments need to be made to accommodate pupils with disabilities and to enable their participation. Descriptive statistics and Mann-Whitney U tests were employed to compare the fit of the two groups and their school environment. The results reveal that, in order to participate actively, both groups of pupils required adjustments to many school settings. Pupils with physical limitations frequently need adjustments, but their needs were met by the schools to a more satisfactory extent than were the needs of pupils with psychosocial limitations. The findings support the usability of the SSI for pupils with various types of limitations. They also stress the importance of eliciting the perspectives of the pupils themselves in order to facilitate the planning and implementation of client-centred occupational therapy interventions in school.

- The School Setting Interview (SSI) was developed to examine the level of studentenvironment fit of students with physical disabilities and facilitate the planning of occupational therapy interventions in school. The SSI is specifically developed for students with physical disabilities who have some type of motor dysfunction, although it has relevance and can be used for students with other types of disabilities. It is a client-centred assessment intended for students from approximately 10 years of age and older. The SSI includes 16 items (i.e. questions) concerning everyday school activities where students with disabilities may need adjustments to be able to participate. Each item is scored using a four-step rating scale that enables the student and the therapist to jointly decide the level of studentenvironment fit.

Agreements and disagreements between children and their parents in health-related assessments

- Purpose: To systematically review research concerning parent-child agreement in health-related assessments to reveal overall agreement, directions of agreement, and the factors that affect agreement in ratings. Method: The Uni-Search and five additional databases were searched. Childrens health issues were grouped into psychosocial issues including autism and ADHD, and physical and performance issues including pain. Measures used for comparison were those addressing (a) psychosocial functioning, (b) physical and performance functioning, and (c) health-related quality of life. Results: Totally, 39 studies met the inclusion criteria, comprising 44 analyses in all since four studies contained more than one analyses. Moderate child-parent agreement was demonstrated in 23 analyses and poor agreement in 20 analyses. Several analyses found more agreement on observable/external than on non-observable/internal domains. Overall, parents considered their children had more difficulties than did the children themselves, although there were indications that for children with physical performance issues, parents may underreport their childrens difficulties in emotional functioning and pain. There were no consistencies in differences between childrens and parents ratings on levels of agreement with respect to the childrens health issue, age or gender. Conclusions: Discrepancies between child and parent reports seem to reflect their different perspectives and not merely inaccuracy or bias. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION In general, parents consider their children to have more difficulties - or more extensive difficulties than the children themselves think they have. The perspectives of the child and his or her parents should be sought whenever possible since both constitute important information concerning the childs health and well-being. Children with physical and performance issues reported more difficulties than their parents concerning the childrens emotional functioning and pain. Clinicians should prioritize obtaining childrens views on subjective aspects such as emotional issues as well as on pain.

- Många elever i dagens svenska skola är i behov av anpassningar och särskilt stöd. För att rätt insatser ska kunna planeras och genomföras är det viktigt att elevernas behov upptäcks och kartläggs på ett systematiskt sätt. BAS - Bedömning av anpassningar i skolmiljön är ett validerat elevcentrerat intervjuinstrument som är utvecklat för att bedöma i vilken grad förutsättningarna i en viss skola överensstämmer med elevens förutsättningar. Instrumentet är avsett för barn från ungefär 7 år och uppåt. Det innehåller 16 frågor om vanliga aktiviteter och uppgifter i skolan där eleven kan behöva anpassningar eller särskilt stöd. I materialet finns samtliga formulär som behövs för att genomföra bedömningen, men också teoretisk bakgrundsinformation om instrumentet och instruktioner inför användning och administrering. I boken finns även två elevexempel för att ge läsaren en inblick i hur instrumentet fungerar i praktiken. Till boken hör en webbplats där allt material finns tillgängligt. På insidan av omslaget finns en kod som behövs för registrering. Koden är unik och kan enbart brukas av en användare. BAS kan användas för alla elever som behöver stöd eller anpassningar i skolan. Materialet riktar sig främst till elevhälsan, speciallärare, specialpedagoger och arbetsterapeuter.
