    • Aim: To construct a Treatment Response Index from Multiple Sensors (TRIMS) for quantification of motor state in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) during a single levodopa dose. Another aim was to compare TRIMS to sensor indexes derived from individual motor tasks. Method: Nineteen PD patients performed three motor tests including leg agility, pronation-supination movement of hands, and walking in a clinic while wearing inertial measurement unit sensors on their wrists and ankles. They performed the tests repeatedly before and after taking 150% of their individual oral levodopa-carbidopa equivalent morning dose.Three neurologists blinded to treatment status, viewed patients’ videos and rated their motor symptoms, dyskinesia, overall motor state based on selected items of Unified PD Rating Scale (UPDRS) part III, Dyskinesia scale, and Treatment Response Scale (TRS). To build TRIMS, out of initially 178 extracted features from upper- and lower-limbs data, 39 features were selected by stepwise regression method and were used as input to support vector machines to be mapped to mean reference TRS scores using 10-fold cross-validation method. Test-retest reliability, responsiveness to medication, and correlation to TRS as well as other UPDRS items were evaluated for TRIMS. Results: The correlation of TRIMS with TRS was 0.93. TRIMS had good test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.83). Responsiveness of the TRIMS to medication was good compared to TRS indicating its power in capturing the treatment effects. TRIMS was highly correlated to dyskinesia (R = 0.85), bradykinesia (R = 0.84) and gait (R = 0.79) UPDRS items. Correlation of sensor index from the upper-limb to TRS was 0.89. Conclusion: Using the fusion of upper- and lower-limbs sensor data to construct TRIMS provided accurate PD motor states estimation and responsive to treatment. In addition, quantification of upper-limb sensor data during walking test provided strong results. © 2019

    • The appearance of the log cross-section provides important information when assessing the quality of the log, where properties to consider include pith location and density of annual rings. This makes tasks like estimation of pith location and annual ring detection of great interest. However, creating labeled training data for these tasks can be time-consuming and subject to misjudgments. For this reason, we aim to create generated training data with controlled properties of pith location and amount of annual rings. We propose a two-step generator based on generative adversarial networks in which we can completely avoid manual labeling, not only when generating training data but also during training of the generator itself. This opens up the possibility to train the generator on other types of log end data without the need to manually label new training data. The same method is used to create two generated training datasets; one of entire log ends and one of patches of log ends. To evaluate how the generated data compares to real data, we train two deep learning models to perform estimation of pith location and ring counting, respectively. The models are trained separately on real and generated data and evaluated on real data only. The results show that the performance of both estimation of pith location and ring counting can be improved by replacing real training data with larger sets of generated training data.

    • The concepts of Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Demand Chain Management (DCM) are among the new and debated topics concerning logistics in the literature. The question considered in this paper is: \Are these concepts needed or will they just add to the confusion?" Lasting business concepts have always evolved in close interaction between business and academia. Di erent approaches start out in business and they are then, more or less simultaneously, aligned, integrated, systemised and structured in academia. In this way a terminology (or language) is provided that helps in further di usion of the concepts. There is a lack of consensus on the de nition of the concept of SCM. This may be one of the major reasons for the difficulty in advancing the science and measuring the results of implementation in business. Relationships in SCM span from rather loose coalitions to highly structured virtual network integrations. DCM is a highly organised chain in which the key is mutual interdependence and partnership. The purpose is to create a distinctive competence for the chain as a whole that helps to identify and satisfy customer needs and wishes. The classical research concerning vertical marketing systems is very helpful in systemising the rather unstructured discussions in current SCM research. The trend lies in increasing competition between channels rather than between companies, which in turn leads to the creation of channels with a high degree of partnership and mutual interdependence between members. These types of channels are known as organised vertical marketing systems in the classic marketing channel research. The behaviour in these types of channels, as well as the formal and informal structures, roles in the network, power and dependence relations, etc. are well covered topics in the literature. The concept of vertical marketing systems lies behind the de nition of demand chains and demand chain management proposed in this paper. A demand chain may be de ned as an integrated and aligned chain built on partnership and mutual interdependence aiming at the creation of a unique competence to identify and satisfy customer perceived value, while demand chain management may be de ned as the e ort to create, retain and continuously develop a dynamically aligned demand chain.
