  • Obstetrical and pediatric follow-up after uterus transplantation
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Uterus Transplantation. Brännström M. (red.). - Cham : Springer. - 9783319941622 ; , s. 183-188
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The ultimate goal of uterus transplantation is a successful pregnancy, with birth of a healthy baby. This has been accomplished repeatedly after live donor uterus transplantation and up until mid-2019, two times after deceased donor uterus transplantation. Pregnancy is established by embryo transfer in either natural cycle or hormone replacement cycle. After confirmation of viable pregnancy, by transvaginal ultrasound at around gestational week 7, the obstetrician/feto-maternal specialist takes over the responsibility of the medical controls of pregnancy. In the Swedish program, the pregnant woman, with a uterine allograft, is typically seen every second week from gestational week 8 until week 34. Starting from gestational week 35, these visits are weekly until delivery. The patient is seen for laboratory tests, by a midwife for routine controls and by an obstetrician for more specialized investigations including ultrasound. We recommend elective delivery from gestational week 37, although we are aware that deliveries were planned from week 35 regarding the first deliveries of the original Swedish study. Cesarean section is the preferred mode of delivery and so far there are no reports of any spontaneous vaginal deliveries. The four live births after uterus transplantation, that so far have been published, are reviewed in detail in the article. Children born after uterus transplantation should be followed up for many years concerning developmental parameters. Tests that are used in the Swedish studies are outlined in the chapter. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

  • The Tower of Labels: Labelling Goods in the US Grocery Store (1922–2018)
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Labelling the Economy, Qualities and Values in Contemporary Markets. edited by B. Laurent and A. Mallard. - Singapore : Palgrave Macmillan. - 9789811514975 - 9789811514982 ; , s. 233-270
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • While labelling is often conceived as an operation aimed at displaying the qualities of products, this chapter invites us to reflect on the labelling of prices. It proposes to study the technology as well as the micro-politics of price labelling in the long-term history of American grocery stores. The chapter relies on a study of the trade journal The Progressive Grocer from 1922 to 2016. It examines how various developments in labelling technologies, like sticker labels, price guns, printed price tags and UPC codes changed the division of labour between manufacturers and retailers in terms of product valuation and qualification and thus contributed to redefining not only the visibility of prices in market scenes and supply chains, but also the economics of the underlying qualities.

  • Thinking market infrastructure: Barcode scanning in the US grocery retail sector, 1967–2010
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Thinking infrastructures, editors, Martin Kornberger, Geoffrey C. Bowker, Julia Elyachar, Andrea Mennicken, Peter Miller, Joanne Randa Nucho and Neil Pollock. - : Emerald Publishing. - 0733-558X. - 9781787695580 - 9781787695573 ; , s. 207-232
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This chapter explores the concept of market infrastructure, which is tentatively defined as a materially heterogeneous arrangement that silently supports and structures the consummation of market exchanges. Specifically, the authors investigate the enactment of market infrastructure in the US grocery retail sector by exploring how barcodes and related devices contributed to modify its market infrastructure during the period 1967–2010. Combining this empirical case with insights from previous research, the authors propose that market infrastructures are relational, available for use, modular, actively maintained, interdependent, commercial, emergent and political. The authors argue that this conception of market infrastructure provides a powerful tool for unveiling the complex agencements and engineering efforts that underpin seemingly superficial, individual and isolated market exchanges.
