- What can we learn about the development of public interaction in e-democracy from a drama delivered by mobile headphones to an audience standing around a shopping center in a Stockholm suburb? In democratic societies there is widespread acknowledgment of the need to incorporate citizens' input in decision-making processes in more or less structured ways. But participatory decision making is balancing on the borders of inclusion, structure, precision and accuracy. To simply enable more participation will not yield enhanced democracy, and there is a clear need for more elaborated elicitation and decision analytical tools. This rigorous and thought-provoking volume draws on a stimulating variety of international case studies, from flood risk management in the Red River Delta of Vietnam, to the consideration of alternatives to gold mining in Ro?ia Montana in Transylvania, to the application of multi-criteria decision analysis in evaluating the impact of e-learning opportunities at Uganda's Makerere University. Editors Love Ekenberg (senior research scholar, International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis [IIASA], Laxenburg, professor of Computer and Systems Sciences, Stockholm University), Karin Hansson (artist and research fellow, Department of Computer and Systems Sciences, Stockholm University), Mats Danielson (vice president and professor of Computer and Systems Sciences, Stockholm University, affiliate researcher, IIASA) and Göran Cars (professor of Societal Planning and Environment, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm) draw innovative collaborations between mathematics, social science, and the arts. Explaining the choice of accounting standards in municipal corporations

- Positive accounting theory (PAT) tries to explain corporations’ choices of accounting standards. Empirical research in this field has been focused on the choices made by large, listed corporations. We challenge this grounding through extending the empirical domain by testing PAT on Swedish municipal corporations. In order to be able to explain the choice of accounting standards in municipal corporations, PAT has to be complemented by institutional factors that can consider the forces of coercive, mimetic and normative pressures presented by the environment. The sample of municipal corporations showed that the choice of standards was significantly explained by both PAT factors and institutional factors. The conclusion is that municipal corporations tend to be subject to institutional influence by accepting the practice of their auditing firm and by using specific standards order to legitimise themselves when they have reached a certain size. Additionally, they tend to act according to PAT predictions by using those standards that are able to reduce the profit to levels that society deems acceptable for municipal corporations. Accordingly, through extending the empirical domain to municipal corporations, this paper’s contribution is to show that PAT needs the complementary institutional factors in order to be capable of explaining choice of accounting standards in firms.

- This handbook provides a comprehensive treatment of Vision Zero, an innovative policy on public road safety developed in Sweden. Covering all the major topics of the subject, the book starts out with a thorough examination of the philosophy, ideas and principles behind Vision Zero. It looks at conditions for the effectiveness of the policy, principles of safety and responsibility as well as critique on the policy. Next, the handbook focuses on how the Vision Zero ideas have been received and implemented in various legislations and countries worldwide. It takes into account the way Vision Zero is looked at in the context of international organizations such as the WHO, the UN, and the OECD. This allows for a comparison of systems, models and effects. The third part of the handbook discusses the management and leadership aspects, including ISO standards, equity issues, other goals for traffic and transportation, and opportunities for the car industry. Part four delves into tools, technologies and organizational measures that contribute to the implementation of Vision Zero in road traffic. Examples of specific elements discussed are urban and rural road designs, human factor designs, and avoiding drunk and distracted driving. The final part of the handbook offers perspectives on the transfer of Vision Zero policy to other areas, ranging from air traffic to suicide prevention and nuclear energy.

#metoo, byggbranschen och de gröna näringarna

- Kampen mot sexuella trakasserier och våld mot kvinnor har alltid varit en central fråga för kvinnorörelsen. Denna rapport går djupare in i förutsättningen för denna kamp inom två olika branscher – byggbranschen och de gröna näringarna – och försöker förstå vilka specifika omständigheter och förutsättningar inom varje bransch som utgör sammanhanget till aktivismen mot sexuella trakasserier. Vi ger här en överblick av den svenska #metoo-aktivismen 2017-2018, samt en mer detaljerad skildring av organiseringen av #sistaspikenikistan samt #skiljagnarnafrånvetet, två av de 77 upprop som organiserades av olika grupper. Data har samlats ihop utifrån en tvärvetenskaplig ansats enligt den enkla principen ”vad hände då, oktober-december 2017, och vad har hänt sedan dess?” Vi har samlat detta högst aktuella, unika men flyktiga datamaterial som återfanns på sociala och i traditionella medier och intervjuat initiativtagare, deltagare och andra centrala personer runt uppropen, medan de fortfarande hade händelserna i någorlunda färskt minne.

- Sedan reformationstiden finns en serie porträtt av Strängnäs stifts biskopar. De flesta hänger i domkapitelshuset, ett par i biskopsgården och de är inte lätta att få se. Men i denna bok visas de alla, från Petrus Jonæ till Hans-Erik Nordin. Vilka var då dessa män bakom bilderna? Alla biskopar sedan reformationen ges i denna bok en presentation; deras bakgrund, inriktning och biskopsgärning skildras. I en övergripande artikel sätts denna porträttkonst också in i sitt sammanhang. Stav, biskopsmössa och kors är tre av biskoparnas insignier. Strängnäsbiskoparnas kåpor, stavar och biskopsringar liksom biskopsstolen i domkyrkan skildras i text och bild, allt från biskop Rogges medeltida kåpa till dagens enkla resekåpor. Bakom bilderna har utarbetats inom Strängnäs stifts herdaminneskommitté och är författad av professor Ingun Montgomery, teol. dr. Jarl Jergmar, teol. dr. Fredrik Santell, prosten Karin Karlberg, fil. dr. Margareta Nisser Dalman och docent Klas Hansson, som också varit bokens redaktör.

- The Australian writer David malouf deserves more critical attention, especially in Europe, than is generally recognized. This first full-length critical study has been undertaken in the conviction that a serious assessment of his oeuvre is due. Its purpose is to investigate and illuminate the continuity and unity of Malouf´s fiction and poetry by focusing on aspects of identity in his writing. All his published works testify to his attempt to define and preserve individual identity "at the edge of darkness" through interrelations, language, imagination and art in a wrold of disintegrating humanist values.

- The New Zealand writer Janet Frame has become known to the reading public mainly through her autobiographical trilogy comprising "To the Is-land", "An Angel at My Table", and "The Envoy from Mirror City". To a large extent critical attention has been autobiographically oriented, or otherwise focusing each of her eleven novels separately. This study concentrates on the theme of adaptation and evolution in her entire oeuvre. Applying a more interdisciplinary and scientific approach than is usually practised in leterary criticism, it considers Frame´s anti-Darwinian stance as "a Challenge to determinsim" calling material progress and adaptability into question. Novels like "Intensive Care", "Scented Gardens for the Blind", and "The Carpathians" are prophetic in picturing a cataclysmic end to human culture and civilization, it is true, but they also celebrate the power of imagination, memory and creativity. frame foresees not only horror and loneliness "at the edge of the alphabet" but also the possibility of a restoration of humanity and language after an era of unconditional adaptation.
