  • Psychological Care, Patient Education, Orthotics, Ergonomics and Prevention Strategies for Neck Pain: A Systematic Overview : Update as part of the ICON* Project.
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: The Open Orthopaedics Journal. - : Bentham Science Publishers Ltd.. - 1874-3250. ; 7:Suppl 4:M12, s. 530-561
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To conduct an overview on psychological interventions, orthoses, patient education, ergonomics, and 1⁰/2⁰ neck pain prevention for adults with acute-chronic neck pain.Search Strategy:Computerized databases and grey literature were searched (2006-2012).Selection Criteria:Systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on pain, function/disability, global perceived effect, quality-of-life and patient satisfaction were retrieved.Data Collection & Analysis:Two independent authors selected articles, assessed risk of bias using AMSTAR tool and extracted data. The GRADE tool was used to evaluate the body of evidence and an external panel to provide critical review.Main Results:We retrieved 30 reviews (5-9 AMSTAR score) reporting on 75 RCTs with the following moderate GRADE evidence. For acute whiplash associated disorder (WAD), an education video in emergency rooms (1RCT, 405participants] favoured pain reduction at long-term follow-up thus helping 1 in 23 people [Standard Mean Difference: -0.44(95%CI: -0.66 to -0.23)). Use of a soft collar (2RCTs, 1278participants) was not beneficial in the long-term. For chronic neck pain, a mind-body intervention (2RCTs, 1 meta-analysis, 191participants) improved short-term pain/function in 1 of 4 or 6 participants. In workers, 2-minutes of daily scapula-thoracic endurance training (1RCT, 127participants) over 10 weeks was beneficial in 1 of 4 participants. A number of psychosocial interventions, workplace interventions, collar use and self-management educational strategies were not beneficial.Reviewers' Conclusions:Moderate evidence exists for quantifying beneficial and non-beneficial effects of a limited number of interventions for acute WAD and chronic neck pain. Larger trials with more rigorous controls need to target promising interventions

  • Energy-efficient extraction of fuel from chlorella combined with CO2 capture
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Energy Procedia. - : Elsevier BV. ; 61, s. 2805-2808
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To combine the abilities of lipids extraction and CO2 capture by algae + IL system, chlorella hydrolysis integrating CO2 removal by ILs ([bmim][BF4], [bmim]Cl and [amim]Cl) to extract lipids energy-efficiently was demonstrated in this study. The addition of CO2 to [bmim][BF4] can increase the lipids yield from 14.2% to 15.6%. The value of net energy gain increased from 10.4 to 35.9 with the CO2 addition to [bmim][BF4] because of the compensated CO2 capture energy in the algae extraction process.

  • Impact of alternative reimbursement strategies in the new cooperative medical scheme on caesarean delivery rates : A mixed-method study in rural China
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: BMC Health Services Research. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1472-6963. ; 12:1, s. Article number 217-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: The rate of caesarean delivery (CD) in rural China has been rapidly increasing in recent decades. Due to the exorbitant costs associated with CD, paying for this expensive procedure is often a great challenge for the majority of rural families. Since 2003, the Chinese government has re-established the NewCooperative Medical Scheme (NCMS), aimed to improve the access of essential healthcare to rural residents and reduce financial burden owing to high out of pocket payments. This paper seeks to test the hypothesis that NCMS may provide service users and providers with financial incentives to select CD. It also assesses the effect of different health insurance reimbursement strategies of NCMS on CD rates in rural China. Methods: Mixed quantitative and qualitative methods were adopted for data collection. Two cross-sectional household surveys were conducted with women having babies delivered in 2006 and 2009; 2326 and 1515 women, respectively, from the study sites were interviewed using structured questionnaires, to collect demographic and socio-economic data, maternal and child care characteristics and health-related expenditures. Focus group discussions (FGDs) and in-depth key informant interviews (KIIs) were undertaken with policy makers, health managers, providers and mothers to understand their perceptions of the influence of NCMS on the choices of delivery mode. Results: The CD rates in the two study counties were 46.0 percent and 64.7 percent in 2006, increasing to 63.6 percent and 82.1 percent, respectively, in 2009. The study found that decisions on the selection of CD largely came from the pregnant women. Logistic regression analysis, after adjusting for socio-economic, maternal and fetal characteristics, did not indicate a significant effect of either proportional reimbursement or fixed amount reimbursement on the choice of CD for both study years. Interviews with stakeholders reflected that different reimbursable rates for CD and vaginal deliveries did not have a significant effect on controlling the rising CD rate in the study countries. Conclusion: NCMS reimbursement strategies adopted in the study counties of China did not have a significant effect on the selection of CD for babydeliveries. The rapid rise of the CD rates of rural China has remained a serious issue. Other effective measures, such as health education to increase awareness of mothers' knowledge, an improving training of health staff in evidence-based delivery care, maybe could do more to promote rational baby delivery in rural China.

  • Dynamic operating characteristics of a compressed CO2 energy storage system
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Applied Energy. - : Elsevier Ltd. - 0306-2619 .- 1872-9118. ; 341
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • For the first time, the study investigated the dynamic performances of a compressed CO2 energy storage (CCES) system based on a dynamic model, which was validated using experimental data. The dynamic round-trip efficiency (RTE) of a scaled-up CCES system in two typical operation modes was studied, including Mode 1: the basic operation mode, where the inlet pressure of the compressor or the expander is not controlled, and Mode 2: the controlled operation mode, where the capacity for compression or expansion is regulated to remain constant. Dynamic RTE varies in the range 16.7%-56.7% in various operation modes. A new key performance indicator, utilization of tank (UOT), was defined to reflect how much working gas is used in a charging or a discharging process. In general, high charging and high discharging capacities lead to low UOTs and low RTEs. Moreover, the comparison between the dynamic model and its equivalent steady-state model showed a significant difference in system performances. The RTE of the steady-state model reaches 68.5%, which is much higher than the corresponding dynamic RTE of 55.3%. © 2023
