  • Rasbiologiskt språkbruk i statens rättsprocess mot sameby
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Dagens Nyheter. - 1101-2447.

  • EPOS Sweden: A national contribution to the European Plate Observing System-European Research Infrastructure Consortium
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Abstract book.
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The pan-European “European Plate Observing System (EPOS)” is focussed on Europe and adjacent regions and includes geophysical monitoring networks, local observations (including permanent in-situ and volcano observatories), topographic/surface dynamics information, surface and subsurface geological information, experimental and laboratory data and functions, and satellite data. In 2021 the Swedish Research Council (VR) approved an application for Sweden to join EPOS-ERIC, formally establishing existing collaborations between EPOS and Swedish research infrastructures.

  • The use of iohexol clearance to determine GFR in patients with severe chronic renal failure - a comparison between different clearance techniques
  • 1995
  • Ingår i: Clinical Nephrology. - 0301-0430. ; 43:1, s. 35-46
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The nonionic low-osmolar contrast medium iohexol was used as marker of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in 53 patients with stable renal function (group I: n = 32, group II: n = 21). All the patients had clearance values < or = 30 ml.min-1.1.73 m-2 body surface; 40 patients < 20 ml.min-1.1.73 m-2 body surface. Simultaneous determinations of renal clearance and plasma clearance, both as slope clearance and single sample clearance, were performed after intravenous injection of 10 ml iohexol 300 mg iodine/ml. In groups I and II plasma was sampled early (around 3 hours) and late (up to 24 hours) after the injection. In group I urine was collected during four 40-minute periods and in group II during one 3-hour period and in group II the residual urine was estimated by ultrasound. Plasma and urine iodine concentrations were analyzed with X-ray fluorescence technique (Reanalyzer PRX90, Provalid AB, Sweden). In group II S-creatinine and tubular function test were followed to detect any signs of nephrotoxicity. In 6 anuric patients (group III) 10 ml iohexol 300 mg I/ml was injected to assess its extrarenal clearance. In groups I and II the slope clearance correlated excellently with the single sample clearance (r = 0.99) when a late plasma sample was used in both techniques. In group II, where residual urine was estimated by ultrasound, renal clearance correlated better with slope clearance than in group I (r = 0.94 vs r = 0.89). There were no signs of nephrotoxicity in the parameters noted. In group III, extrarenal plasma clearance of iohexol did not exceed 2 ml.min-1.1.73 m-2. CONCLUSION: GFR < 20 ml/min can accurately and safely be determined as renal clearance or plasma clearance of iohexol after an intravenous dose of 10 ml 300 mg I/ml. Plasma clearance techniques, which have the practical clinical advantage of no urine sampling, do at low GFR require a late plasma sample taken, for instance, 24 hours after injection of iohexol, irrespective of whether slope technique or single sample technique or one-compartment or poly-compartment models are used.

  • Evaluation of various attenuation corrections in lung SPECT in healthy subjects
  • 2003
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Medicine Communications. - : Ovid Technologies (Wolters Kluwer Health). - 0143-3636 .- 1473-5628. ; 24:10, s. 1087-1095
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The effect of increasingly more sophisticated attenuation correction methods on image homogeneity has been studied in seven healthy subjects. The subjects underwent computed tomography (CT), single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and transmission computed tomography (TCT) of the thorax region in the supine position. Density maps were obtained from the CT and TCT studies. Attenuation corrections were performed using five different methods: (1) uniform correction using only the body contour; (2) TCT based corrections using the average lung density; (3) TCT based corrections using the pixel density; (4) CT based corrections using average lung density; and (5) CT based corrections using the pixel density. The isolated attenuation effects were assessed on quotient images generated by the division of images obtained using various attenuation correction methods divided by the non-uniform attenuation correction based on CT pixel density (reference method). The homogeneity was calculated as the coefficient of variation of the quotient images (CVatt), showing the isolated attenuation effects. Values of CVatt were on average 12.8% without attenuation correction, 10.7% with the uniform correction, 8.1% using TCT map using the average lung density value and 4.8% using CT and average lung density corrections. There are considerable inhomogeneities in lung SPECT slices due to the attenuation effect. After attenuation correction the remaining inhomogeneity is considerable and cannot be explained by statistical noise and camera non-uniformity alone. ((C) 2003 Lippincott Williams Wilkins).

  • Scatter and detecability in lung SPECT : a Monte Carlo study
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The image quality in SPECT is degraded by scattered photons. The finite energy resolution of the gamma camera makes the detection of scattered photons unavoidable. The effect on the image is impaired contrast and a reduction in the possibilities of detecting small lesions. The detectability of cold lesions above statistical noise and normal variations in the activity distribution was evaluated using the Monte Carlo technique. A SPECT study of a digital thorax phantom was simulated with cold lesions of different sizes positioned inside the homogeneous activity distribution in the lungs. The contrast-to-noise for a number of energy window settings were assessed, with and without three different scatter correction methods: the dual-window, the triple-energy-window and the Klein-Nishina method. The contrast was improved by using scatter corrections and the TEW and KN scatter corrections showed the best result. The detectability was not improved by using scatter corrections when normal variations in the lung activity are small compared with the statistical noise level. Lesions of about 2 cm in diameter are detectable. The optimum energy window was found to be 128-154 keV, both with and without scatter corrections.
