  • The Influence of Correct Transfer of Weld Information on Production Cost
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: 5th Swedish Production Symposium 2012, SPS12. - Linköping. - 9789175197524 ; , s. 295-302
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This study aims at identifying the causes for deviations between actual and theoretical weld weight. Previous performed studies have shown examples of up to 40% extra weld consumables used in some cases. One consequence is of course higher production cost but it can also give increased weight leading to higher fuel consumption and decreased payload. An interesting aspect is that generous margins on specific production measures dilute important feedback of process variation information preventing and prolonging structural root cause analysis. The causes for the observed deviations can heritage from several areas, both technical and within the information handling. The investigation shows that single components of the information structure and system, such as unsuitable demands as well as incapable evaluation methods, significantly influences the reliability of the entire manufacturing process. The common factor concerning when problems occur, seems to be the ability of correct information transfer between different functions in the organisation preventing the mismatch to appear in the interface. Suggestions for improving this situation include cross functional agreements as well as new measuring methods.

  • The Development and Evaluation of an Animated Video for Pre- and Postoperative Instructions for Patients with Osteoarthritis : A Design Science Research Approach
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Geriatrics. - 2308-3417. ; 9:19, s. 1-11
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Osteoarthritis (OA) is a condition in the hip or knee joints that develops during a long period of time and sometimes needs hip or knee joint replacement surgery when pain gets too intense for the patient. This paper describes how an animated video for pre- and postoperative instructions for patients with osteoarthritis was designed. The design science research (DSR) approach was followed by creating a web-based animated video. The web-based animated video is used to support surgical departments with education for patients suffering from OA. In the web-based animated video, information about OA surgical treatment and its pre- and post-arrangements was included. The relevance, the rigor, and the design cycles were focused on, with some iterations of and improvements in the animations. Even after implementation, there was a feedback-loop with comments from the surgeons and their patients. Moreover, as more departments will use the web-based animated video, they want to make their special mark on it, so that further changes will be made. This paper presents the design and successful implementation of an animated video for pre- and postoperative instructions for patients with osteoarthritis, tightly linked to the patient journey and the workflow of healthcare professionals. The animated video serves not only as a tool to improve care but also as a basis for further scientific research studies.

  • How collaborative practice research can improve human betterment
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: 12Th International Technology, Education And Development Conference (Inted). - Valencia, Spain : IATED-INT ASSOC TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION & DEVELOPMENT. - 9788469794807 ; , s. 3942-3945
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An aging population, lack of competence and digitalization places new high demands on Swedish welfare. This situation will challenge the traditional management of the primary healthcare. In order to enable a person-oriented healthcare the primary healthcare realizes that it needs to enable managers to work more interactive. To deal with this the health care center in the Fargelanda municipality has started to make the management more interactive, in order to create continuous and better feedback, both from the healthcare professionals, the caretakers, and other actors within the healthcare. This initiative is supposed to contribute to a better communication between different actors, in order to increase older people’s life quality, according to their physical and psychological health as well as a meaningful everyday life. The purpose of the paper is to present some guidelines for how to design collaboration between healthcare and academia in order to be able to in the future design an interactive management in which developed information technology related products assist the healthcare to increase life quality for elderly people. This action research project will then contribute in designing a patient-centered health care for the population in a municipality, when the project is knitting together the different actors related to supporting the people’s health.
