- The formation of volatile chromium species is a major problem concerning metallic interconnects for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC). This problem is known and a number of routes, usually in the form of coatings, has been presented to overcome this problem. This paper investigates the influence of thin metallic films which can be applied by a low cost process. The measurements are carried out by a novel denuder technique where volatile chromium species are collected as sodium chromate. This technique allows the quantification of chromium evaporation in a time resolved manner. Coated and uncoated samples of ferritic steels developed for SOFC applications are investigated at 850°C in a N2-O2-H2O environment.

- This paper explores the possibility to use a single low-resolution FIR camera for detection of pedestrians in the near zone in front of a vehicle. A low resolution sensor reduces the cost of the system, as well as the amount of data that needs to be processed in each frame.We present a system that makes use of hot-spots and image positions of a near constant bearing to detect potential pedestrians. These detections provide seeds for an energy minimization algorithm that fits a pedestrian model to the detection. Since false alarms are hard to tolerate, the pedestrian model is then tracked, and the distance-to-collision (DTC) is measured by integrating size change measurements at sub-pixel accuracy, and the car velocity. The system should only engage braking for detections on a collision course, with a reliably measured DTC.Preliminary experiments on a number of recorded near collision sequences indicate that our method may be useful for ranges up to about 10m using an 80x60 sensor, and somewhat more using a 160x120 sensor. We also analyze the robustness of the evaluated algorithm with respect to dead pixels, a potential problem for low-resolution sensors.

- This paper describes an electrical system layout for a wave power plant connecting linear generators to the grid. The electrical power out from the wave energy converters must be converted before they can be connected to the grid. The conversion is carried out in marine substations that will be placed on the seabed.The paper presents experimental power data from a wave energy converter that has been in operation at the Lysekil research site since March 2006. Moreover, results and analyses from experiments and simulations from tests with the generator connected to a rectifier and filter are presented. A simulation is made to show the difference between having the generator connected to a linear load and a nonlinear load, which would be the case when the generator is connected to the grid.

- The objective with the present project was to combine studies of textbooks and masonry constructions with laboratory analyses of historical mortars from the time period 1800 to 1950. The objective was to investigate the development of knowledge and craftsmanship of the mason during this period. The three different sources display the same trends from binder rich to binder poor and to mortars based on cement and lime mixes. There was a change from a complex and varying use of different mortars in the 19th century to a simplified and standardized use in the 20th century. This process also includes a change to a centralised and industrialized production of binders. A consequence of this was that a loss of the craftmans knowledge of how to handle different hydraulic binders and pozzolans. The later part of the period was characterised in a loss of knowledge in this aspect for all actors working with masonry and renders.

- In this study, ultra-fine grained (UFG) structure was produced in the stir zone (SZ) of AA6005-T6 alloy joints using friction stir processing (FSP) cooled by liquid nitrogen (N 2 ). Conventional friction stir welding (FSW) was used to fabricate reference joints. The corrosion properties of the cooled joints were investigated by atmospheric corrosion tests. The corrosion exposures were carried out at a relative humidity (RH) of 95%, 400 ppm CO 2 and at 22°C. The rapidly cooled joints exhibited exceptional corrosion resistance in both corrosion experiments as well as better mechanical properties compared to those of the FSWed joints. The better corrosion resistance of the quenched sample was attributed to the microstructural modification of the joint.
