  • Knowledge Integration in Inter-firm R&D Collaboration : How do Firms Manage Problems of Coordination and Cooperation?
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Knowledge Integration and Innovation: Critical Challenges Facing International Technology-Based Firms. - Oxford : Oxford University Press. - 9780191730580 - 9780199693924 ; , s. 149-169
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Firms often need to collaboratively use and integrate two or more organizations' knowledge bases in order to achieve their goals. This is a challenging task due to two sets of commonly identified problems: ‘problems of coordination’ that derive from knowledge contingencies, and ‘problems of cooperation’ that derive from relationship factors. While literature often treats these problems independently, this chapter focuses on how they can be modelled jointly within a framework grounded in knowledge-based and transaction cost approaches to the firm. The findings from a case study of three inter-firm R&D collaborations suggest that treating both problems as interdependent, rather than isolated, can provide a better account for the challenges and structure of inter-firm R&D collaborations. The results imply that neither firms nor research should focus too much on either of the problems at the expense of the other.

  • Knowledge Integration in Inter-firm R&D Collaboration : How do Firms Manage Problems of Coordination and Cooperation?
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Knowledge Integration & Innovation. - Oxford, UK : Oxford University Press. - 9780199693924 - 0199693927 ; , s. 148-169
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Technology-based firms continue to compete primarily on innovation, and are continuously required to present new solutions to an exacting market. As technological complexity and specialization intensifies, firms increasingly need to integrate and co-ordinate knowledge by means of project groups, diversified organizations, inter-organizational partnerships, and strategic alliances. Innovation processes have progressively become interdisciplinary, collaborative, inter-organizational, and international, and a firm's ability to synthesize knowledge across disciplines, organizations, and geographical locations has a major influence on its viability and success.

  • Knowledge integration in inter-firm R&D relationships: How do firms balance problems of coordination with problems of cooperation?
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Knowledge Integration and Innovation: Critical Challenges Facing International Technology-based Firms. - : Oxford University Press. - 9780199693924 ; , s. 148-169
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Prior research has typically focused on either of two problems that may face firms in R&D collaboration; problems of coordination that derive from knowledge contingencies or problems of cooperation that stem from relationship factors. Rather than treating these problems in isolation, the findings of the present study suggest that in order to understand knowledge integration in R&D collaboration both types of problems should be treated simultaneously. We suggest that the interplay between these two sets of problems may explain both the extent of knowledge integration in partnerships, and how the partnering firms set out to accomplish knowledge integration. The findings are important as R&D collaborations are frequently concerned with how to share and integrate knowledge without becoming subject to potential expropriation by partners.

  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The #FridaysForFuture climate protests mobilized more than 1.6 million people around the globe in March 2019. Through a school strike, a new generation has been galvanized, representing a historical turn in climate activism. This wave of climate protest mobilization is unique in its tactics, global scope and appeal to teenage school students. Media coverage of these protests and high-level national and international political meetings involving the movement’s icon, Greta Thunberg, illustrate a level of global attention that no previous youth movement has ever received.A team of social scientists from universities across Europe1 organized a survey of the global FFF strike events on March 15. The team surveyed protesters in 13 cities in nine European countries using the same research design to collect data, following the well-established protest survey methodology used previously in the “Caught in the Act of Protest: Contextualizing Contestation” (CCC) project. The significant presence of young first-timers in the strike signals the emergence of a new generation of climate activists and the possible development of FFF as a broader, grassroots movement, with a strong female presence and reliance on social media and peer networks. It highlights limitedcommitment to established environmental organisations, with varying interpretations of the importance of lifestyle politics and a hopeful attitude towards the future. Further research will be needed to follow the development of the first mass youth mobilization on climate change. During the second global school strike on May 24, 2019, new surveys were organized in Stockholm and Budapest.

  • Can’t Dance Without Being Drunk? : Exploring the Enjoyment and Acceptability of Conscious Clubbing in Young People
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Young Adult Drinking Styles. - Cham : Palgrave Macmillan. - 9783030286064 - 9783030286071 ; , s. 233-252
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This chapter discusses the emergence of the conscious clubbing movement and its potential benefits to young people aged 18–24 as an alternative way of spending social time without drinking alcohol. It first considers why efforts to promote moderate drinking among university students may fail where the environment strongly encourages drinking. The conscious clubbing phenomena are then introduced with examples of organisations and events from around the world. Drawing on the results of an exploratory survey, the chapter then highlights the ways in which conscious clubbing could bring about meaningful experiences in participants’ lives, including increased opportunities for connection with other people. Finally, the chapter discusses new directions for research in this area, including further in-depth qualitative research and conscious clubbing interventions for heavy drinkers.

  • Kunskapsintegration i produktutvecklingsprojekt : Om möjligheterna att styra en dynamisk och framväxande process
  • 2012. - 1
  • Ingår i: Styrning. - Lund : Studentlitteratur. - 9789144081687 ; , s. 205-223
