  • Förstudie obemannade farkoster
  • 2012

  • Low cost large area panel processing of MCM-D substrates and packages
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of IPACK’01. ; , s. -8
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The paper describes the results of the EU research project LAP that had the target to develop and to demonstrate a low-cost high-density substrate manufacturing technology for 1st-level die assemblies. The cost target of 1€€/in2 had to be obtained by increasing toady’s 4x4in2 panel sizes to panels upto 24x24in2. The results focus on RF characterization (integrated antennas up to 83GHz, inductors up a Q value of 50), novel packaging strategies (integration of substrate and package), and cost achievements (approaching the cost target). The technology capabilities have been demonstrated with a 9:4 satellite switch operating up to 2.4GHz and readout electronics for physics experiments.

  • Low-Density Cellulose-Based Foams: Preparation, Characterization and Biodegradation
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Book of Abstracts EPNOE 2023. - : Graz University of Technology. ; , s. 345-
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The demands for alternatives to fossil-based materials for the packaging and building sector is rapidly increasing as new regulations and laws are set. The usage of such materials in low- density applications is increasingly questioned since only a small amount is recycled and a large part ends up in the environment where it has a very long decomposition time and contributes to the emergence of microplastics in our marine eco systems. Alternatives to fossil- based low-density materials has been demonstrated using e.g., starch [1] and cellulose [2] as raw materials. However, challenges remain regarding the process parameters and properties such as strength and water integrity. To fulfil these properties requested by the specification owners, understanding is needed regarding which tools that are available for incorporating wet-integrity and hydrophobicity without causing the wet foam to collapse during the foaming or drying process. It is also of highest importance to have an early understanding of how such materials can be recycled and/or bio-degraded to fit a circular economy. In this study two different cross-linkers and two different types of hydrophobisers are used to obtain a wet stable and a water repelling low-density material. The wet foams are characterized by measuring the foamability and foam stability and the dry foams are characterized in terms of structure, porosity and degradability. Two demonstrators have been produced based on the most promising material composition and the up-scaling processes of the developed foaming technology to both batch-wise and continuous fabrication of composite foams is underway. Finally, a biodegradation study was conducted and evaluated.[1] S. Chaireh, P. Ngasatool, and K. • Transient wave propagation in gyrotropic media
  • 1992
  • Ingår i: Invariant inbedding and inverse problems. - 0898713056 ; , s. 77-89
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In this paper transient electromagnetic wave propagation in an inhomogeneous, cold plasma is considered. It is assumed that a constant magnetic induction is present and that the plasma is spatially inhomogeneous in the direction of the magnetic induction. Losses in the plasma are modeled with a collision frequency ν. The direct problem, which is to calculate the reflected and transmitted responses of the plasma, is considered in this paper. Special attention is paid to the precursor effects in the plasma and several examples of precursor effects in an inhomogeneous plasma are showed.

  • Wave splitting and imbedding equations for a spherically symmetric dispersive medium
  • 1992
  • Ingår i: Invariant inbedding and inverse problems. - 0898713056 ; , s. 103-113
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The direct problem of time dependent electromagnetic scattering in the dispersive sphere is solved by a wave splitting technique. The electric field is expanded in a series involving vector spherical harmonics, leading to a system of wave equations for each term. These systems are reduced to scalar wave equations for each term, which are solved via reflection operators. Some preliminary numerical results are presented.

  • Risk Evaluation of Therapy Medical Devices and Implants for Increased Patient Safety : REMISS Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Action
  • 2017
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Current knowledge in the area of medical devices remains insufficiently complete, and many of the established test methods and international standards (ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards) open up to individual interpretation on how the test should be performed and the results reported. Treating long-term diseases such as cancer imposes a stringent sequence of various treatments on patients. For instance, cancer may be treated with radiation and chemotherapy; the latter in many treatment protocols requiring the implantation of an intravascular catheter during a prolonged period of time. To maximize the effect of such measures, as well as issues related to the patient Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL), integrated and validated methodologies are needed as decisional basis for appropriate risk management and patient safety with regard to clinical use of intravascular catheters. The ambition of the REMISS project is to: Establish integrated and validated methodologies for risk management of the clinical use of intravascular catheters with respect to the clinical service lifetime, improved patient treatment, safety and HRQoL. This is assumed to reduce patient suffering due to complications associated with material deployment and degradation associated side effects for e.g. cancer patients receiving treatment with chemotherapeutical drugs using an intravascular catheter. The main vision is to improve the standards for eliminating side effects (complications) caused by deployment from and degradation of intravascular catheters, as well as loss of performance due to material-drug-biological system interactions, compared to the current state-of-the-art. Realising the project goals the rate of catheter-associated complications can be lowered by 40-50%, which in turn will improve patient treatment, safety and HRQoL, as well as health care related costs.Package integrally developed methodologies, predictive models, databases, and other project findings, as a potential product with a holistic coverage. It is believed that commercialisation of (selected) results will be the best option in order to create sustainable availability of this service based on continued research on intravascular catheters according to integrated and validated methodologies.REMISS answer the call NMBP-12-2017 Development of a Reliable Methodology for Better Risk Management of Engineered Biomaterials Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products and/or Medical Devices Marcy, P. • Metal organic chemical vapor deposition of ultrathin ZrO2 films on Si(1 0 0) and Si(1 1 1) studied by electron spectroscopy
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Surface Science. - 0039-6028 .- 1879-2758. ; 601:4, s. 1008-1018
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The growth of ultrathin ZrO2 films on Si(100)-(2x1) and Si(111)-(7x7) has been studied with core level photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The films were deposited sequentially by chemical vapor deposition in ultra-high vacuum using zirconium tetra-tert-butoxide as precursor. Deposition of a > 50Å thick film leads in both cases to tetragonal ZrO2 (t-ZrO2), whereas significant differences are found for thinner films. On Si(111)-(7x7) the local structure of t-ZrO2 is not observed until a film thickness of 51Å is reached. On Si(100)-(2x1) the local geometric structure of t-ZrO2 is formed already at a film thickness of 11Å. The higher tendency for the formation of t-ZrO2 on Si(100) is discussed in terms of Zr–O valence electron matching to the number of dangling bonds per surface Si atom. The Zr–O hybridization within the ZrO2 unit depends furthermore on the chemical composition of the surrounding. The precursor t-butoxy ligands undergo efficient C–O scission on Si(100), leaving carbonaceous fragments embedded in the interfacial layer. In contrast, after small deposits on Si(111) stable t-butoxy groups are found. These are consumed upon further deposition. Stable methyl and, possibly, also hydroxyl groups are found on both surfaces within a wide film thickness range.

  • Aluminum electroplating on steel from a fused bromide electrolyte
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Surface and Coatings Technology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0257-8972. ; 258, s. 652-663
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A quaternary bromide bath (LiBr-KBr-CsBr-AlBr3) was used to electro-coat aluminum on steel substrates. The electrolyte was prepared by the addition of AlBr3 into the eutectic LiBr-KBr-CsBr melt. A smooth, thick, adherent and shiny aluminum coating could be obtained with 80 wt.% AlBr3 in the ternary melt. The SEM photographs of the coated surfaces suggest the formation of thick and dense coatings with good aluminum coverage. Both salt immersion and open circuit potential measurement suggested that the coatings did display a good corrosion-resistance behavior. Annealing of the coated surfaces, prior to corrosion tests, suggested the robustness of the metallic aluminum coating in preventing the corrosion of the steel surfaces. Studies also indicated that the quaternary bromide plating bath can potentially provide a better aluminum coating on both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including complex surfaces/geometries.
