Jubileumsskrift till Juridiska institutionen 40 år

- Juridiska institutionen vid Umeå universitet bildades år 1977. Med anledning av 40-årsfirandet presenteras i denna jubileumsskrift 20 bidrag skrivna av 33 forskare och lärare verksamma vid institutionen. Både juristprogrammet och den forskning som bedrivs vid institutionen har med tiden blivit fast etablerade som en del av de svenska universiteten. Forskningen har i takt med internationaliseringen utvecklats och många forskare är etablerade både på nationell och internationell nivå. De olika bidragen speglar undervisning och forskning vid institutionen. De handlar såväl om juristprogrammets etablering och utveckling som olika aktuella projekt och forskningsområden som utvecklats vid institutionen.

- In 2017, the Court of Justice of the European Union celebrates sixty-five years and has thereby achieved retirement age in most EU Member States, including Luxembourg. If it were to retire, the Court would be able to look back at an exciting journey, from its relatively humble beginning on 4 December 1952 as part of the then brand-new European Coal and Steel Community to one of the most important and exciting judicial institutions in Europe, perhaps in the entire world.The need to understand the CJEU has never been greater. This volume is dedicated to improving our understanding of the Court in relationship to other actors, including other EU institutions, the Member State, national courts, third countries, and international organizations. It is based on a conference arranged by the Swedish Network for European Legal Studies (SNELS) held at Stockholm University in December 2016, and includes contributions by both lawyers and researchers in other fields, as well as current members of the Court.

- This open access book explores the complexity of the lex sportiva, the transnational legal regime governing international sports. Pioneering in its approach, it maps out the many entanglements of the transnational governance of sports with European legal processes and norms. The contributors trace the embeddedness of the lex sportiva within national law, European Union law and the European Convention on Human Rights. While the volume emphasizes the capacity of sports governing bodies to leverage the resources of national law to spread the lex sportivaglobally, it also points at the fact that European legal processes are central when challenging the status quo as illustrated recently in the Semenya and Superleague cases. Ultimately, the book is also a vantage point to start critically investigating the Eurocentricity and the complex materiality underpinning the lex sportiva.
