  • Movement Status Based Vision Filter for RoboCup Small-Size League
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Advances in Automation and Robotics, Vol. 2. - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer. - 9783642256455 - 9783642256462 ; , s. 79-86
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Small-size soccer league is a division of the RoboCup (Robot world cup) competitions. Each team uses its own designed hardware and software to compete with othersunder defined rules. There are two kinds of data which the strategy system will receive from the dedicated server, one of them is the referee commands, and the other one is vision data. However, due to the network delay and the vision noise, we have to process the data before we can actually use it. Therefore, a certain mechanism is needed in this case.Instead of using some prevalent and complex algorithms, this paper proposes to solve this problem from simple kinematics and mathematics point of view, which can be implemented effectively by hobbyists and undergraduate students. We divide this problem by the speed status and deal it in three different situations. Testing results show good performance with this algorithm and great potential in filtering vision data thus forecasting actual coordinates of tracking objects.

  • Regulation of Humoral Immune Responses and B Cell Tolerance by the IgM Fc Receptor (FcμR)
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: B Cells In Immunity And Tolerance. - Singapore : Springer. - 9789811535321 - 9789811535314 ; , s. 75-86
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Immunoglobulin (Ig) M is the first antibody isotype produced during an immune response and is critical for host defense against infections. Recent studies have revealed that IgM also plays an important role in immune regulation and immunological tolerance. Mice lacking secretory IgM not only exhibit impaired production of antigen-specific IgG and are more susceptible to bacterial and viral infections, but also produce autoantibodies and are prone to develop autoimmune diseases. For many years, IgM has been thought to function predominantly by binding to antigen and activating complement (C') system. It is now clear that IgM can also elicit its function through the IgM Fc receptor (Fc mu R). In this chapter, we will review the role of Fc mu R in B cell development, maturation, survival and activation, antibody production, host defense against bacterial and viral infections, and B cell tolerance. We will also discuss the relative contribution of IgM-C' and IgM-Fc mu R pathways in humoral immune responses. Finally, we will discuss the possible involvement of Fc mu R in human chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

  • A Fast Machine Vision for Automated Packaging
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Electrical, Information Engineering and Mechatronics 2011. - London : Springer. - 9781447124665 - 9781447124672 ; , s. 719-726
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This paper introduces a fast, simple, cheap but accurate and reliable vision system designed for the automated packaging robot application, which is to replace manual product packaging. The objective is to develop a vision system and algorithm for such application and achieve pattern tracking in nearly real-time with a normal entry-level computer. This paper describes in detail the implementation of the proposed vision system including image processing and pattern recognition. The application uses only a simple gray scale image of product as sample pattern to track the product in the scene at real-time speed, which has come near to replace human eyes. The proposed machine vision has been implemented and equipped on a real ABB robot arm with other related hardware/software to achieve automated packaging. The performance has been evaluated as a success in both timing and precision. Its stability and reliability are also proved under laboratory testing environment.

  • Mutual Trust: Joint Performance of an Operations Strategy Implementation—Securing the Value Chain by Preparedness
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Managing Public Trust. - Cham : Palgrave Macmillan. - 9783319704845 - 9783319704852 ; , s. 175-190
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This chapter discusses mutual trust in the daily construction of public safety. The chapter is based on the corresponding author’s article-based dissertation, with work connecting joint research articles to his action research. In doing so, this chapter summarizes the implementation of the strategy and how it has been studied. The research is limited to a municipal facilities’ service unit that aims to secure a common value chain for all situations. To do this, joint performance is required. The study is based on action research, with the use of mixed methods. The study utilized the resource-based view theory and empirically employs the balanced critical factor index method for managing the unit.

  • Exploring Diversity in the Relationships Between Teacher Quality and Job Satisfaction in the Nordic Countries—Insights from TALIS 2013 and 2018.
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Equity, equality and diversity in the Nordic model of education / Tove Stjern Frønes, Andreas Pettersen, Jelena Radišić, Nils Buchholtz.. - Cham : Springer. - 9783030616472
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Equity and quality are the common goals to strive for in the Nordic education systems. Yet the mechanisms through which the separate education systems approach these goals have become more diverse. The chapter provides evidence in support of the different facets of teacher quality, such as self-efficacy, as well as teacher-students relations concerning their importance for teachers’ job satisfaction across the Nordic countries. Diversities, however, were also observed. The results from the TALIS 2013 model outlined two subgroups of the Nordic countries with similar mechanisms: the Norway-Sweden and the Denmark-Finland groups. No distinctive group was found in the TALIS 2018 results, producing more country-specific patterns, such as the importance of social utility value for Norway, adverse classroom composition in Sweden or teacher effective professional development positively impacting the personal and social utility values of teachers in Finland. These observed diversities and changing patterns may find their reasons in the gradually dissolved unity of the Nordic model by the different reform actions taken in recent years, such as in the example of Sweden, and in the long-term prerequisites for the teaching profession, where Finland is the country that stands out.

  • Phase formation rules
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: High-Entropy Alloys: Fundamentals and Applications. - Cham : Springer International Publishing. - 9783319270135 ; , s. 21-49
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This chapter gives an overview of existing active phase formation rules for high-entropy alloys (HEAs). A parametric approach using physiochemical parameters including enthalpy of mixing, entropy of mixing, melting points, atomic size difference, and valence electron concentration is used to delineate phase formation rules for HEAs, with a reference to other multicomponent alloys like bulk metallic glasses (BMGs). Specifically, rules on forming solid solutions, intermetallic compounds, and the amorphous phase are described in detail; formation rules of solid solutions with the face-centered cubic (fcc) or body-centered cubic (bcc) structure are also discussed. Some remaining issues and future prospects on phase formation rules for HEAs are also addressed at the end. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016.
