  • IceCube search for neutrinos from GRB 221009A
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of 38th International Cosmic Ray Conference (ICRC 2023). - : Sissa Medialab Srl.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    •  GRB 221009A is the brightest Gamma Ray Burst (GRB) ever observed. The observed extremelyhigh flux of high and very-high-energy photons provide a unique opportunity to probe the predictedneutrino counterpart to the electromagnetic emission. We have used a variety of methods to searchfor neutrinos in coincidence with the GRB over several time windows during the precursor, promptand afterglow phases of the GRB. MeV scale neutrinos are studied using photo-multiplier ratescalers which are normally used to search for galactic core-collapse supernovae neutrinos. GeVneutrinos are searched starting with DeepCore triggers. These events don’t have directionallocalization, but instead can indicate an excess in the rate of events. 10 GeV - 1 TeV and >TeVneutrinos are searched using traditional neutrino point source methods which take into accountthe direction and time of events with DeepCore and the entire IceCube detector respectively. The>TeV results include both a fast-response analysis conducted by IceCube in real-time with timewindows of T0 − 1 to T0 + 2 hours and T0 ± 1 day around the time of GRB 221009A, as well asan offline analysis with 3 new time windows up to a time window of T0 − 1 to T0 + 14 days, thelongest time period we consider. The combination of observations by IceCube covers 9 ordersof magnitude in neutrino energy, from MeV to PeV, placing upper limits across the range forpredicted neutrino emission.

  • The Visual Object Tracking VOT2017 challenge results
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: 2017 IEEE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMPUTER VISION WORKSHOPS (ICCVW 2017). - : IEEE. - 9781538610343 ; , s. 1949-1972
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Visual Object Tracking challenge VOT2017 is the fifth annual tracker benchmarking activity organized by the VOT initiative. Results of 51 trackers are presented; many are state-of-the-art published at major computer vision conferences or journals in recent years. The evaluation included the standard VOT and other popular methodologies and a new "real-time" experiment simulating a situation where a tracker processes images as if provided by a continuously running sensor. Performance of the tested trackers typically by far exceeds standard baselines. The source code for most of the trackers is publicly available from the VOT page. The VOT2017 goes beyond its predecessors by (i) improving the VOT public dataset and introducing a separate VOT2017 sequestered dataset, (ii) introducing a realtime tracking experiment and (iii) releasing a redesigned toolkit that supports complex experiments. The dataset, the evaluation kit and the results are publicly available at the challenge website(1).

  • Coulomb dissociation of O-16 into He-4 and C-12
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: NUCLEAR PHYSICS IN ASTROPHYSICS - X, NPA-X 2022. - : EDP Sciences. - 2100-014X. ; 279
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We measured the Coulomb dissociation of O-16 into He-4 and C-12 within the FAIR Phase-0 program at GSI Helmholtzzentrum fur Schwerionenforschung Darmstadt, Germany. From this we will extract the photon dissociation cross section O-16(alpha,gamma)C-12, which is the time reversed reaction to C-12(alpha,gamma)O-16. With this indirect method, we aim to improve on the accuracy of the experimental data at lower energies than measured so far. The expected low cross section for the Coulomb dissociation reaction and close magnetic rigidity of beam and fragments demand a high precision measurement. Hence, new detector systems were built and radical changes to the (RB)-B-3 setup were necessary to cope with the high-intensity O-16 beam. All tracking detectors were designed to let the unreacted O-16 ions pass, while detecting the C-12 and He-4.

  • The TRANSIT project: innovation towards train pass-by noise source characterisation and separation tools
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: 2022 Conference Proceedings Transport Research Arena, TRA Lisbon 2022. - : Elsevier B.V.. ; , s. 989-996
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In TRANSIT, experimental methods are developed to separate and characterise noise sources on moving trains. Improved microphone array techniques allow quantification of sound power and directivity. Source separation methods based on the Pass-By Analysis method, Advanced Transfer Path Analysis and the TWINS model are also developed. For trains at standstill, new test methods are developed to quantify noise transmission paths from sources to the standard microphone positions accounting for installation effects. Several measurement campaigns are used to demonstrate and verify these methods. In addition, innovative materials and methods are investigated for improved sound comfort in trains. Approaches considered include optimal sound absorption at the source, attenuation along ducts for air conditioning systems and innovative meta-structure designs for the car-body parts.

  • Reverse knowledge transfer in digital servitization: A global approach to service provision
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the Spring Servitization Conference. - : Aston Business School, UK. ; , s. 53-60
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose: Digital servitization provides new opportunities for manufacturers to compete acrossmultiple markets. However, global digital service provision is complex and knowledge intensive, as itrequires alignment with subsidiaries to ensure adaptation to local customers’ needs. The purpose ofthis study is to understand how manufacturers engaging in digital servitization can leverage reverseknowledge transfer (RKT) from subsidiaries to achieve global competitive advantages.Design/Methodology/Approach: A qualitative multiple-case study including 43 interviews is used toinvestigate the RKT in three manufacturer-subsidiary cases taking place during the provision of digitalservitization solution packages in progressive global markets.Findings: This study identifies three crucial types of subsidiary generated knowledge namely, digitalknowledge, customer knowledge, and needs analysis knowledge. Leveraging such knowledge, manufacturers are able to mitigate the operational challenges of global digital service provision, andrealise the benefits in the forms of financial performance, efficient rollout of the digital servitizationsolution, and the expansion of the digital service portfolio.Originality/Value: Even though there has been increasing interest of scholars towards global digitalservice provision, there is limited knowledge about how manufacturers manage knowledge flowsbeyond the boundaries of a single market. This study extends current knowledge by focusing onmanufacturers’ digital service provision in multiple global markets. In addition, by focusing onsubsidiaries’ perspective, this study brings forward their critical role and impact on the achievementof global competitive advantages. This study introduces the concept of RKT in digital servitizationliterature exploring the role and impact of the subsidiary, actor that has received scant attention inthe servitization literature.
