  • 2022
  • Ingår i: 2022 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, CLEO 2022. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc..
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We demonstrate a polarimetric imaging system with one fractal superconducting nanowire single-photon detector and time-multiplexed photon-counting scheme, which allows us to obtain images with multiple types of contrast.

  • Numerical investigations on outdoor thermal comfort for built environment : Case study of a Northwest campus in China
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Energy Procedia. - : Elsevier Ltd. - 1876-6102. ; , s. 6557-6563, s. 6557-6563
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Outdoor thermal comfort has been receiving more and more attentions due to the increased demand of outdoor activities during last decades. People require good thermal comfort when they are exposed to the outdoor thermal environment. However, the natural environment is severely suffering from the pollution of air, water as well as the extremely hot weather. Therefore, construction of ecological living environment is of great importance. To evaluate and improve the built environment, a campus area located in Northwest China was selected. Numerical simulations based on the software ENVI-met V4.0 were conducted and the effect of growing plants upon the outdoor thermal comfort was analyzed. Numerical results were compared using different thermal Indexes: Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET) and Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI). Results demonstrated that UTCI gave a lower prediction than that of PET and was more suitable for evaluating the outdoor thermal comfort. Growing trees can significantly reduce the uncomfortable hours during hot summer but the improvement will reach the limitation after growing amount of trees.

  • Large area surface-emitting photonic crystal quantum cascade laser
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Optics InfoBase Conference Papers. - : OSA - The Optical Society.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) are the sources of choice for many laser-based applications in the mid-infrared region. Because of the unique 2D in-plane coupling mechanism, a photonic crystal (PhC)QCL [1] has superior advantages on mode selection, surface emission, and beam control. In this work, we present a large-area (1.5 mm × 1.5 mm) PhC-QCL operating under pulsed mode at room temperature (289 K). The surface-emitting peak power is as high as 1 W.

  • Critical sampling rate for sampled-data consensus over random networks
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the IEEE Conference on Decision and Control. - : IEEE conference proceedings. - 9781479978861 ; , s. 412-417
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, we consider the consensus problem for a network of nodes with random interactions and sampled-data control actions. Each node independently samples its neighbors in a random manner over a directed graph underlying the information exchange of different nodes. The relationship between the sampling rate and the achievement of consensus is studied. We first establish a sufficient condition, in terms of the inter-sampling interval, such that consensus in expectation, in mean square, and in almost sure sense are simultaneously achieved provided a mild connectivity assumption for the underlying graph. Necessary and sufficient conditions for mean-square consensus are derived in terms of the spectral radius of the corresponding state transition matrix. These conditions are then interpreted as the existence of a critical value on the inter-sampling interval, below which global mean-square consensus is achieved and above which the system diverges in mean-square sense for some initial states. Finally, we establish an upper bound of the inter-sampling interval, below which almost sure consensus is reached, and a lower bound, above which almost sure divergence is reached. An numerical example is given to validate the theoretical results.

  • Analysis on capacity and delay for redundant multiple source routing in mobile ad hoc networks
  • 2010
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We consider the realtime services over on-demand routing protocols in ad hoc networks, where infrastructure does not exist and the network topology is highly dynamic and time-varying due to node mobilities. To reduce the end-to-end delay, we have proposed two efficient routing protocols: MSR (Multipath Source Routing) and RSR (Redundant Source Routing) in our previous work. Simulations have shown the good performance for the realtime services. Moreover, we also propose a new on-demand routing protocol RMSR (Redundant Multipath Source Routing) and show the performance of RMSR, which is an extension of MSR and RSR. The performance of the network using the RMSR algorithm in terms of network capacity and end-to-end queuing delay is analyzed by computing the number of active links. Compared with DSR, we can figure out the network capacity which is not increased by redundant packets and improve network delay from O(N) to O(log N) (where N is the number of the nodes).
