  • Business Modelling - Konsortium förenar forskning vid tre högskolor
  • 1996
Projektet slutdokumenterades i boken: "Perspectives on Business Modelling - Understanding and Changing Organisations" (Springer, 1999)

  • Perspectives on Business Modelling : Understanding and Changing Organisations
  • 1999
  • Bok (refereegranskat)abstract
    • How can established models and methods be employed for the understanding and change of organisations? One of the key issues presented in this book is bridging the communication gap between business leaders and IT experts in companies and public services. The leading idea behind this book is to present different perspectives on business modelling, based on established theories and practical experiences. The book offers advanced knowledge and relevant information on the key issues in busines modelling for the today's organisations. The book was presented on a Tutorial at:12th Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering - CAiSE 2000, 5-9 June, 2000, Kista, Stockholm, Sweden, http://dsv.su.se/conferences/caise00/

  • Perspectives on Business Modelling: Introduction
  • 1999
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Business Modelling is the use of models and methods to understand and change organisations. The main objective is to bridge the communication gap between business people and systems people. In this chapter, three important themes in business modelling are presented: development on different levels, explorations of different points of view, and descriptions of different aspects. Overviews of the following chapters are given in order to highlight each perspective on business modelling

  • Social media use and alcohol consumption among students in Uganda : a cross sectional study
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Global Health Action. - : Taylor & Francis. - 1654-9716 .- 1654-9880. ; 15:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background Globally, alcohol use significantly contributes to the disease burden. Alcohol consumption in Uganda is related to several health consequences among young people, including university students. Social media is commonly used by students to share academic information and create social networks. Among young people in high-income countries, previous studies have also shown that social media use can have negative health outcomes related to alcohol use, and associated problems. To date, similar studies conducted in low- and middle-income countries are largely missing. Objective To assess the prevalence of and associations between social media use and alcohol consumption among university students in Uganda. Method This was a cross-sectional study among 996 undergraduate students at Makerere University. Data were collected using a questionnaire. Alcohol use in the previous 12 months was the dependent variable. The independent variable was social media use categorised as general use, alcohol-related use, and social media lurking/passive participation. Multinomial logistic regression was used to assess associations. Crude and adjusted odds ratios were reported. Results Nearly all students (97%) used social media and 39% reported alcohol use. Regular alcohol use was significantly associated with moderate (OR = 2.22, CI: 1.35-3.66) and high level general social media use (OR = 2.45, CI: 1.43-4.20). Regular alcohol use was also associated with alcohol-related social media (OR = 6.46, CI: 4.04-10.30), and alcohol-related lurking (OR = 4.59, CI: 2.84-7.39). Similar, although weaker associations were identified for occasional alcohol use. Conclusions Approximately four in ten students reported alcohol use in the past year, and almost all students used social media. Alcohol-related social media use was associated with occasional and regular alcohol use, with stronger associations for regular use. These findings may guide further research and present an opportunity for potential alcohol control interventions to improve health among young populations in low- and middle-income countries.

  • Vertical phase separation in spin-coated films of a low bandgap polyfluorene/PCBM blend - Effects of specific substrate interaction
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Applied Surface Science. - Amsterdam : Elsevier BV. - 0169-4332 .- 1873-5584. ; 253:8, s. 3906-3912
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report on the effect of the substrate on the vertical phase separation in spin-coated thin films of poly [(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl)-co-5,5-4',7'-di-2-thienyl-2',1',3'-benz othiadiazole] (APFO-3) blended with [6,6]-phenyl-C-61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM). Compositional depth profiles of the films are measured by dynamic secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). We found that changing the substrate from silicon to gold affects the composition profile near the substrate interface. This is caused by a specific interaction between the polymer (APFO-3) and the gold surface, as confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The composition profile in the area away from the substrate interface, as well as the enrichment of the free surface with APFO-3, remain however unaffected by the choice of substrate. The vertical composition was also analysed for APFO-3:PCBM films spin-coated on indium tin oxide (ITO) coated with a thin layer of (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS). • There and back again : migration in freshwater fishes
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Canadian Journal of Zoology. - Ottawa : CANADIAN SCIENCE PUBLISHING. - 0008-4301 .- 1480-3283. ; 92:6, s. 467-479
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Animal migration is an amazing phenomenon that has fascinated humans for long. Many freshwater fishes also show remarkable migrations, whereof the spectacular mass migrations of salmonids from the spawning streams are the most well known and well studied. However, recent studies have shown that migration occurs in a range of freshwater fish taxa from many different habitats. In this review we focus on the causes and consequences of migration in freshwater fishes. We start with an introduction of concepts and categories of migration, and then address the evolutionary causes that drive individuals to make these migratory journeys. The basis for the decision of an individual fish to migrate or stay resident is an evaluation of the costs and benefits of different strategies to maximize its lifetime reproductive effort. We provide examples by discussing our own work on the causes behind seasonal migration in a cyprinid fish, roach (Rutilus rutilus (L., 1758)), within this framework. We then highlight different adaptations that allow fish to migrate over sometimes vast journeys across space, including capacity for orientation, osmoregulation, and efficient energy expenditure. Following this we consider the consequences of migration in freshwater fish from ecological, evolutionary, and conservation perspectives, and finally, we detail some of the recent developments in the methodologies used to collect data on fish migration and how these could be used in future research.
