  • The Prison Adjusted Measure of Aggression (PAMA) : Psychometric Characteristics of a New Tool Measuring Change in Aggressive Behaviors in Correctional Settings
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Psychiatry Research. - : Elsevier BV. - 0165-1781 .- 1872-7123. ; 263, s. 130-138
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • There is a need for instruments that can be used in correctional settings to measure changes in aggressive behaviors over a limited time period. This study aimed to validate an instrument (the Prison Adjusted Measure of Aggression, PAMA) that assesses specifically the past month’s aggressive behaviors and is adapted for use in correctional facilities. The psychometric properties of the self-rated and interview versions of the PAMA were explored and compared to those of two well-established measures of aggression: The Staff Observation Aggression Scale (SOAS); and the self-rate Aggression Questionnaire-Revised Swedish Version (AQ-RSV). The study group comprised 93 male and 59 female inmates, who were followed for two months. During the study, the prevalence of aggressive acts was observed and reported by SOAS. On two occasions, at monthly intervals, subjects reported their own aggressive behaviors using AQ-RSV and the self-report version of the PAMA; also, a psychologist conducted interviews according to PAMA. This study’s main finding was that the self-rated version of PAMA is a valid measure of different types and dimensions of aggression (physical and verbal aggression, hostility) and has acceptable psychometric properties. Therefore, PAMA could potentially be of value for use in correctional services evaluating aggression managing treatment interventions.

  • "The challenge of joining all the pieces together" : Nurses' experience of palliative care for older people with advanced dementia living in residential aged care units
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Journal of Clinical Nursing. - : Wiley. - 0962-1067 .- 1365-2702. ; 29:19-20, s. 3835-3846
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To describe nurses' experiences of palliative care for older people with advanced dementia living in residential aged care units.BACKGROUND: Dementia is a global health problem and the number of older people with dementia who need palliative care is increasing. Previous research has revealed that care for older people with dementia in the final stage of life is usually complex. However, little is known about how nurses experience palliative care for older people with advanced dementia living in residential aged care units.METHOD: Nine individual, semi-structured face-to-face interviews with nurses working in residential aged care units for older people with advanced dementia in palliative care in western Sweden were analysed using qualitative inductive content analysis. The COREQ checklist was followed.RESULTS: The nurses considered that palliative care for older people with advanced dementia is a complex and challenging form of care. In particular, they identified three challenges that must be met: developing specialised knowledge and skills, developing teamwork as a working method, and creating a caring relationship.CONCLUSIONS: The results of our analysis indicate that if nurses are aware of and understand that the challenges are essential for 'joining all the pieces together', the palliative care for older people with advanced dementia may become a positive experience for nurses and may increase their sense of satisfaction and security in their professional role.RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: For the palliative care to be successful the nurses need to 'join all the pieces together', i.e. succeed in developing specialised knowledge and skills, developing teamwork as a working method, and creating a caring relationship to establish a person-centred care with the older person with advanced dementia and with his or her relatives.

  • Framtidens musikklassrum : en posthumanistisk ingång för ökad jämställdhet
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Child and Youth Studies Conference University West November 4-5 2021 / BUV Konferens. - Trollhättan : Högskolan Väst. - 9789189325043

  • Gender-equal options for musical becomings in the future music classroom : A pilot study exploring “thinking outside the box”
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Education & the Arts. - Boston : Penn State Libraries Open Publishing. - 1529-8094. ; 23, s. 1-20
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Gender inequality is a problem in western music education, but efforts to solve this problem in practice have thus far been insufficient. By adopting a post-human theoretical framework, this pilot study explores how music practitioners’ visions of a gender-equal classroom can be used to question, reverse, and reconstruct gendered traditions within music as an educational field. The aim is to increase knowledge about how gender-equal options for musical becomings could be realized in the future music classroom. As there is a lack of post-human studies in music education inspired by an explorative design, the current project offers a new methodological approach. The findings reveal entanglements of gender-equal identities through diverse socio-material and material representations. This gives recognition to the students in representing identity and gender, genre and style, enabling liquid selfimages and identities to be shaped and re-shaped seamlessly
