Towards a New Concept for Supporting Needy Children in Developing Countries : ICT Centers Integrated with Social Rehabilitation
- 2010
-
Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
- The presented concept for supporting needy children is based on experiences from our site visits to many children homes, schools and rehabilitation centers in various developing countries around the world. We have analysed the Swedish Model for social rehabilitation of children integrated with modern ICT centers as professional resources for development assistance. The standpoint taken is to strengthen the poor and exposed minority groups in the society. In this sense, we argue for the need to combine social action and ICT research in order to get out a full potential of intended ventures in the development world

Managerial Implications for Customer Focused Product Development
- 1998
-
Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
- Since the introduction of QFD a lot has been written about the best way for its implementation and use. Numerous publications have developed normative models of how to succeed with QFD. When these models are implemented, some companies have great success while other fail miserably. How can two companies using the same method come to such completely different results? In a study of six multinational companies this question has been examined. The cases show the importance of understanding the dynamics in an organization before implementing QFD. With knowledge about the situational factors and an understanding of how they influence each other, an implementation of QFD is likely to be successful. Some important managerial implications from the study are the need to adjust the method to each specific company and even to each specific application. Furthermore, companies working close to customers before encountering QFD seem less likely to achieve a successful implementation of the method
