  • Influence of Synthesis Conditions for ZSM-5 on the Hydrothermal Stability of Cu-ZSM-5
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Catalysis Letters. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1572-879X .- 1011-372X. ; 130:1-2, s. 79-85
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The influence of syntheses parameters of zeolite ZSM-5 on the lean NO (x) reduction activity and hydrothermal stability of Cu-ZSM-5 has been investigated. The hydrothermal stability of Cu-ZSM-5 was found to depend on the aluminium source used and on the presence of Ca(OH)(2) in the synthesis mixture for ZSM-5.

  • E4-Mistra, a research program for the development of an energy efficient low emission exhaust aftertreatment system for heavy duty vehicles
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: World Renewable Energy Forum, WREF 2012, Including World Renewable Energy Congress XII and Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES) Annual Conference. - : American Solar Energy Society. - 9781622760923 ; , s. 4530-4536
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents a unique system approach applied in a joint academic - industrial research program, E4 Mistra, to reach the goals of energy efficiency and low emissions exhaust aftertreatment system for heavy duty vehicles. The high energy efficiency is achieved by heat recuperation, on-board hydrogen production for use in both an auxiliary power unit and for NOx reduction and by finding new solutions for making the after-treatment system active at low exhaust temperatures. To reach low particulate emissions a mechanical filter using a sintered metal filter is developed. Low NOx emissions are achieved by an efficient NOx reduction catalyst. The system is based on four technological advances: Thermoelectric material s for heat recuperation, catalytic reduction of NOx over innovative catalyst substrates using hydrocarbons from the fuel and H2 from a high efficiency fuel reformer, and particulate filtration over a porous metal filter.

  • Deposition of platinum nanoparticles, synthesized in water-in-oil microemulsions, on alumina supports
  • 2002
  • Ingår i: Langmuir. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1520-5827 .- 0743-7463. ; 18:5, s. 1811-1818
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Platinum nanoparticles were prepared in water-in-oil microemulsions and deposited on gamma-alumina using two different methods. In the first method, the alumina support was added to the particle suspension and the microemulsion was subsequently destabilized by addition of tetrahydrofurane, whereby the particles were deposited on the alumina support. In the other method, the platinum nanoparticles were transferred to an aqueous solution were they were redispersed by a stabilizing surfactant prior to addition of the alumina support. The size of the microemulsion droplets and of the unsupported platinum particles was in the range of a few nanometers as measured by a dynamic light scattering technique (photon correlation spectroscopy). The size of the unsupported platinum nanoparticles and of the particles deposited on alumina was studied by transmission electron microscopy. Both methods for platinum particle deposition resulted in some degree of particle agglomeration, the first probably because of too-fast destabilization of the microemulsion and the second due to inefficient redispersion of the Pt particles when transferred to the aqueous phase. All samples investigated showed high catalytic activity for CO oxidation by oxygen. The highest activity was found for those samples prepared via the redispersion method where a relatively weak interaction was achieved between the redispersed Pt particles and the alumina.

  • Kinetics of the formation of nano-sized platinum particles in water-in-oil microemulsions
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Journal of Colloid and Interface Science. - : Elsevier BV. - 1095-7103 .- 0021-9797. ; 241:1, s. 104-111
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The effect of surfactant type and temperature on the kinetics of the formation of platinum nanoparticles in water-in-oil microemulsions by chemical reduction of PtCl6(2-) were examined with time-resolved UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. The surfactants used were poly(ethylene glycol)monododecyl ethers (C12E4, C12E5, C12E6), sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulphosuccinate (AOT), and mixtures of the alcohol ethoxylates and AOT. The oil domain was n-heptane. The microemulsion droplet size was measured by a dynamic light scattering technique (photon correlation spectroscopy) and the final platinum particle size was determined by transmission electron microscopy. The reaction rate for platinum particle formation was approximately the same in microemulsions based on either of the alcohol ethoxylates but considerably lower for microemulsions based on AOT. In microemulsions based on mixtures of an alcohol ethoxylate and AOT the reaction rate was similar to that obtained when alcohol ethoxylate was the sole surfactant. The reaction was observed to be particularly rapid in microemulsions based on combinations of AOT and C12E5 or C12E6, and the rate was relatively independent of the ratio of the nonionic and anionic surfactants. The reaction was found to be of first order for platinum nanoparticles formed in alcohol ethoxylate-, AOT-C12E5-, and AOT-C12E6-based microemulsions, whereas in microemulsions with AOT and AOT-C12E4 the reaction rate seemed to be of higher reaction order. The platinum particles were found to be less than 5 nm in average diameter, which was consistent with the microemulsion droplet size.
