  • Implementation of daily visual management at five small and medium sized enterprises in Produktionslyftet compared to six larger Swedish companies
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Swedish Production Symposium 2016.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper compares the implementation of daily visual management (DVM) in five SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises), with practice in six large Swedish companies, considering the challenge to include sustainability aspects. With method definition from Produktionslyftet (PL), a Swedish development programme, DVM includes daily meetings around key performance indices (KPIs) and visualised information on boards. The SMEs were studied within PL while the large companies were studied in the research project SuReBPMS (Sustainable and resource efficient Business Performance Measurement Systems). The empirical result from SMEs shows that KPIs often cover few areas (most common: delivery, safety and quality) while the larger companies have wider range of areas. In some SMEs the meeting agendas, KPIs and pulse-boards are standardised while in others there are differences between teams or operations. The larger companies were mainly standardised. Both SMEs and larger companies mostly include all employees in DVM, in line with PL-DVM methodology. The general tendency is to focus on short term rather than follow-up of strategic challenges in the DVM. Furthermore, environmental issues, such as climate impact, are rarely found on boards, while often reflected in company policy. However, many KPIs have a strong, indirect, connection to sustainability and environment.

  • Characterization of cell-free breast cancer patient-derived scaffolds using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry data and RNA sequencing data
  • 2020

  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Patient-derived scaffolds (PDSs) generated from primary breast cancer tumors can be used to model the tumor microenvironment in vitro . Patient-derived scaffolds are generated by repeated detergent washing, removing all cells. Here, we analyzed the protein composition of 15 decellularized PDSs using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry. One hundred forty-three proteins were detected and their relative abundance was calculated using a reference sample generated from all PDSs. We performed heatmap analysis of all the detected proteins to display their expression patterns across different PDSs together with pathway enrichment analysis to reveal which processes that were connected to PDS protein composition. This protein dataset together with clinical information is useful to investigators studying the microenvironment of breast cancers. Further, after repopulating PDSs with either MCF7 or MDA-MB-231 cells, we quantified their gene expression profiles using RNA sequencing. These data were also compared to cells cultured in conventional 2D conditions, as well as to cells cultured as xenografts in immune-deficient mice. We investigated the overlap of genes regulated between these different culture conditions and performed pathway enrichment analysis of genes regulated by both PDS and xenograft cultures compared to 2D in both cell lines to describe common processes associated with both culture conditions. Apart from our described analyses of these systems, these data are useful when comparing different experimental model systems. Downstream data analyses and interpretations can be found in the research article "Patient-derived scaffolds uncover breast cancer promoting properties of the microenvironment" [1] . • Patient-derived scaffolds uncover breast cancer promoting properties of the microenvironment
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Biomaterials. - : Elsevier Ltd. - 0142-9612 .- 1878-5905. ; 235
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Tumor cells interact with the microenvironment that specifically supports and promotes tumor development. Key components in the tumor environment have been linked to various aggressive cancer features and can further influence the presence of subpopulations of cancer cells with specific functions, including cancer stem cells and migratory cells. To model and further understand the influence of specific microenvironments we have developed an experimental platform using cell-free patient-derived scaffolds (PDSs) from primary breast cancers infiltrated with standardized breast cancer cell lines. This PDS culture system induced a series of orchestrated changes in differentiation, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, stemness and proliferation of the cancer cell population, where an increased cancer stem cell pool was confirmed using functional assays. Furthermore, global gene expression profiling showed that PDS cultures were similar to xenograft cultures. Mass spectrometry analyses of cell-free PDSs identified subgroups based on their protein composition that were linked to clinical properties, including tumor grade. Finally, we observed that an induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition-related genes in cancer cells growing on the PDSs were significantly associated with clinical disease recurrences in breast cancer patients. Patient-derived scaffolds thus mimics in vivo-like growth conditions and uncovers unique information about the malignancy-inducing properties of tumor microenvironment. © 2019 The Authors

  • Spatial Influence of Topographical Factors on Yield of Potato (Solanum Tuberosum L.) in Central Sweden
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Precision Agriculture. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1385-2256 .- 1573-1618. ; 6:4, s. 341-357
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study has evaluated the sampling density for creation of high-resolution digital elevation models (DEMs) for precision agriculture purposes. The relationships between yield and topographical factors were investigated in a study area located in the central Sweden province of Dalarna. The DEM data sampling was carried out with a RTK-GPS system. A dense sampling scheme was employed and data was divided into two for both interpolation and validation. Kriging interpolation was used for DEM generation. From the DEM, topographical parameters were extracted and topographical indices were estimated. The indices were calculated with slope length and its vertical and horizontal components. The drainage area for a point of interest and the relationship of this area to the total drainage area were also estimated. The relationship of yield and the topographical parameters and indices was investigated usingboth circular and spatial statistics. A spatial regression was used to calculate a model for the relationship. Up to 20% of the yield could be explained in the final model for one of the fields.

  • Digital elevation data for estimation of potential wetness in ridged fields - Comparison of two different methods
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Agricultural Water Management. - : Elsevier BV. - 1873-2283 .- 0378-3774. ; 79:3, s. 225-247
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The aim of this study was to develop, adjust and test two different methods for the estimation of drainage area and potential wetness in ridged fields. The methods were applied to a gridded digital elevation model (DEM) of a potato field in central Sweden. Elevation data were registered by a global positioning system (GPS) receiver. A high-precision real time kinematic (RTK) system was used to record positions both horizontally and vertically. The study can be divided into four parts. First, we present the two different methods of estimating the drainage area and potential wetness. The potential wetness index used is 1n(a/tan beta), which is directly related to drainage area. Second, we constructed a high-accuracy DEM based on GPS-measured elevation points. We then modelled the GPS errors and the sampling errors in the DEM. Finally, we used a Monte Carlo simulation to test differences between the two methods of estimating the drainage area and potential wetness. The wetness index for the new method, which takes ridges into account, differs both statistically and visually from the first method, which does not incorporate ridges. The new method, incorporating ridges, is thus strongly recommended for hydrological modelling in ridged agricultural fields. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

  • Topographical data for delineation of agricultural management zones.
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the Fifth European Conference on Precision Agriculture. ; , s. 819-826, s. 819-826
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The aim of this study was to delineate management zones by using topographical data, and to investigate how these management zones relate to soil parameters and yield. Elevation, as well as soil and yield data, were sampled in the field. Digital elevation models have been created, and the topographical parameters of slope, aspect and drainage area, estimated. Management zones have been delineated by the use of threshold values and filtering. Significant differences between the zones with respect to organic matter, clay content, phosphorus, pH, potassium, magnesium and yield have been found. The results indicate that topographical data can be used delineate agricultural management zones in central Sweden.

  • Stress-minimized packaging of inertial sensors using wire bonding
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: 2013 Transducers and Eurosensors XXVII. - : IEEE conference proceedings. - 9781467359818 - 9781467359832 ; , s. 1962-1965
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents a packaging approach for inertial sensors using wire bonding technology. The die is mounted exclusively by bond wires on the front- and backside to the package. Conventional single-side die attach to substrates, such as gluing, is abandoned. The approach is characterized by its novel and symmetric die attach concept as well as its simplicity of applying a standard wire bonding process. The wire bond attachment facilitates significant reduction of thermally induced mechanical stresses. The attachment concept is characterized in terms of attachment stiffness and potential die resonances using Laser Doppler Vibrometry (LDV). White-light interferometry is used to investigate stress related warping that is induced by the die attachment process.
