  • Fathers' sense of security during the first postnatal week-A qualitative interview study in Sweden
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Midwifery. - : Elsevier BV. - 0266-6138 .- 1532-3099. ; 28:5, s. e697-e704
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background father's sense of security in the early postnatal period is important for the whole family. An instrument, which measures Parents' Postnatal Sense of Security (the PPSS instrument), is under development. Objective to explore and describe factors, which influence fathers' sense of security during the first postnatal week. Methods an explorative design with a qualitative approach was used. Thirteen fathers from three hospital uptake areas in Southern Sweden were interviewed using focus group discussions and individual interviews. Analysis was carried out using qualitative content analysis.Findings participation in the processes of pregnancy birth and early parenthood emerged as the main category for fathers' postnatal sense of security. The emergent categories were; ‘willingness to participate and take responsibility’, ‘being given the opportunity to take responsibility’, ‘being assured about mother's and baby's well-being’, ‘having someone to turn to—knowing who to ask’, ‘being met as an individual’ and ‘being met by competent and supporting staff’.Key conclusions and implications for practice new and specific items of importance when investigating fathers' sense of security during the early postnatal period have been pinpointed. Fathers' sense of early postnatal security may be enhanced by giving them a genuine opportunity to participate in the whole process and by giving them the opportunity to stay overnight at the hospital after the birth. Midwives and care organisations need to give clear information about where competent help and advice can be obtained at all hours. Midwives should strengthen the fathering role by acknowledging and listening to the father as an individual person.

  • Low cost large area panel processing of MCM-D substrates and packages
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of IPACK’01. ; , s. -8
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The paper describes the results of the EU research project LAP that had the target to develop and to demonstrate a low-cost high-density substrate manufacturing technology for 1st-level die assemblies. The cost target of 1€€/in2 had to be obtained by increasing toady’s 4x4in2 panel sizes to panels upto 24x24in2. The results focus on RF characterization (integrated antennas up to 83GHz, inductors up a Q value of 50), novel packaging strategies (integration of substrate and package), and cost achievements (approaching the cost target). The technology capabilities have been demonstrated with a 9:4 satellite switch operating up to 2.4GHz and readout electronics for physics experiments.

  • Periodontal treatment influences risk markers for atherosclerosis in patients with severe periodontitis
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Atherosclerosis. - : Elsevier. - 0021-9150 .- 1879-1484. ; 206:2, s. 518-522
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study investigated the effect of mechanical infection control for periodontitis and periodontal surgery on the prevalence of well-established risk factors for atherosclerosis, and plasma levels of cytokines, antibodies against heat shock proteins and markers of systemic inflammation. Sixty-eight patients between 39 and 73 years of age with severe periodontitis who had been referred to four specialist periodontology clinics in Sweden were investigated. A fasting venous blood sample was taken at baseline and additional samples were collected after 3 and 12 months. A total of 54 patients underwent periodontal treatment. The periodontal treatment was successful, as pathogenic gingival pockets decreased significantly. Plasma glucose, lipids and markers of systemic inflammation were not significantly altered after 3 months. One year after the initial treatment, HDL-C concentrations were significantly increased (Δ0.08 mmol/L) whereas LDL-C concentrations decreased (Δ0.23 mmol/L). Haptoglobin concentrations were also lower. Interleukin-18 and interferon-γ levels were also lower after 12 months (60 ng/L (-23%) and 11 ng/L (-97%) respectively). Treatment had no effect on plasma levels of IgA, IgG1, IgG2 antibodies against heat shock proteins. In conclusion, this study indicates that standard treatment for periodontal disease induces systemic changes in several biochemical markers that reflect the risk for atherosclerosis.

  • Contact patterns and costs of multiple sclerosis in the Swedish healthcare system : A population-based quantitative study
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Brain and Behavior. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 2162-3279. ; 12:6
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND: The burden of disease for persons with multiple sclerosis (MS) and society is changing due to new treatments. Knowledge about the total need for care is necessary in relation to changing needs and new service models.OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to describe the contact patterns for MS patients, calculate costs in health care, and create meaningful subgroups to analyze contact patterns.METHODS: All patients diagnosed with MS at Ryhov Hospital were included. All contacts in the region from January 1, 2018, until September 30, 2019, were retrieved from the hospital administrative system. Data about age, sex, contacts, and diagnosis were registered. The cost was calculated using case costing, and costs for prescriptions were calculated from medical files.RESULTS: During the 21-month period, patients (n = 305) had 9628 contacts and 7471 physical visits, with a total cost of $7,766,109. Seventeen percent of the patients accounted for 48% of the visits. The median annual cost was $7386 in the group with 10 or fewer visits, compared to $22,491 in patients with more than 50 visits.CONCLUSION: There are considerable differences in the utilization of care and cost between patients with MS in an unselected population, meaning that the care needs to be better customized to each patient's demands.

  • Influence of ultrasound and cathode rotation on the formation of intrinsic stress in Ni films during electrodeposition
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Transactions of the Institute of Metal Finishing. - 0020-2967 .- 1745-9192. ; 89:3, s. 137-142
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The influence of 25 kHz ultrasound and cathode rotation during electroplating of Ni films on Si wafers has been studied with respect to intrinsic stress formation. Current densities from 1·6 up to 28·3 A dm−2 were used in an additive free Ni sulphamate electrolyte. In general, more efficient agitation by either ultrasound or cathode rotation was found to reduce intrinsic stress towards compressive levels compared with conventional agitation with an electrolyte circulation pump. Furthermore, intrinsic stresses become less dependent on changes in current density. The latter effect is most pronounced for ultrasonic agitation. Structure analysis of samples deposited by ultrasonic agitation shows dense deposits with initially smaller grains at high ultrasonic effect. Locally increased temperature at the substrate surface could be an important effect of ultrasound agitation.

  • Parametric modelling of steel connectors in a glulam-based post and beam building system - Towards a flexible product platform approach
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Transdisciplinary Engineering for Complex Socio-technical Systems – Real-life Applications. - : IOS Press. - 9781643681115 - 9781643681108 ; , s. 564-573
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • House building projects are distinctive, and the degree of customisation creates bottlenecks in the design process and challenges for production, which results in longer lead time and higher costs. Aligned with a product platform approach, previous studies have introduced cost-effective approaches such as standardisation, modularization, configurators, etc. Still, components that cannot be completely modularized and configured due to high complexity level, may require a lot of engineering efforts during development. A platform approach that can be used to support engineer-to-order products that change over time still needs to be explored. The application of parametric modelling to automate the design process in the construction industry has the potential to further increase both the design and production efficiency. Thus, the objective of this research is to apply parametric modelling in the design of steel connectors used in a glulam based post and beam building system as part of a flexible product platform for increased design and production efficiency. A single case study has been carried out with a Swedish multi-storey house building company. Empirical data were gathered from a workshop with the design team followed by interviews, and document analysis. A computer-supported method for the steel bracket connectors has been developed, that connects post and beam components with pre-defined rules and constraints as part of the platform development. The result contributes to expanding knowledge about the development of a flexible product platform for improved design process and downstream production of customised components with parametric modelling support in the industrial post and beam buildng system.
