  • Structural analysis of slender glass panel subjected to static and impact loading
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Challenging Glass 6 : Conference on Architectural and Structural Applications of Glass, CGC 2018 - Proceedings - Conference on Architectural and Structural Applications of Glass, CGC 2018 - Proceedings. - 9789463660440 ; , s. 427-434
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Slender glass panels are widely used as storefronts and indoor separating walls in shopping malls and public buildings. To ensure that the design and construction is technically safe for general use and that it meets current and accepted technical standards, in-situ testing is required by the building administrator or authorities. A case study was performed of an indoor glass lantern in a public building made from slender two-side supported glass panels with a complex geometry. It provides structural assessments and results of in-situ experiments including static loading and soft body impact test. Results from numerical simulations of impact loading on the glass panels complementing the experimental results are also presented. The in-situ testing proved that the structural design meets current standards regarding the static loading. The soft body impact test proved the safety of the intact panel and the panel with one ply deliberately broken. The numerical study showed that, for a more complicated geometry, the stress distribution can dramatically change over time and that stress concentrations can develop at certain locations at a late stage in the impact history.

  • Optimisation Modelling of hospital operating room planning : analyzing strategies and problem settings
  • 2007
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • There is a growing proportion of elderly which increases the demand for health care. As a consequence health care costs are rising and the need for hospital resource planning seems urgent. Different aspects (often conflicting) such as patient demand, clinical need and political ambitions must be considered. In this paper we propose a model for analyzing a hospital surgical suite with focus on operating room planning. An optimization model is developed for patient operation scheduling and for key resource allocation. Medical examinations and treatments of patients are performed using a number of resources, similar to products being refined in a number of processes in a logistics chain. Optimal resource allocation, given different objectives according to patient perspective, staff perspective, costs etc. under different system settings (e.g. principles for operating room allocation and amount of stand-by personnel), is studied. Preliminary results are presented based on case studies from two Swedish hospitals.

  • Segment Anything Model (SAM) Meets Object Detected Box Prompts
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: 2024 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT). - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 9798350340266 - 9798350340273
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Segmenting images is an intricate and exceptionally demanding field within computer vision. Instance Segmentation is one of the subfields of image segmentation that segments objects on a given image or video. It categorizes the class labels according to individual instances, ensuring that distinct instance markers are assigned to each occurrence of the same object class, even if multiple instances exist. With the development of computer systems, segmentation studies have increased very rapidly. One of the state-of-the-art algorithms recently published by Meta AI, which segments everything on a given image, is called the Segment Anything Model (SAM). Its impressive zero-shot performance encourages us to use it for diverse tasks. Therefore, we would like to leverage the SAM for an effective instance segmentation model. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a hybrid instance segmentation method in which Object Detection algorithms extract bounding boxes of detected objects and load SAM to produce segmentation, called Box Prompted SAM (BP-SAM). Experimental evaluation of the COCO2017 Validation dataset provided us with promising performance.

  • A Federated Interactive Learning IoT-Based Health Monitoring Platform
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: New Trends in Database and Information Systems. - Cham : Springer. ; , s. 235-246, s. 235-246
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Remote health monitoring is a trend for better health management which necessitates the need for secure monitoring and privacy-preservation of patient data. Moreover, accurate and continuous monitoring of personal health status may require expert validation in an active learning strategy. As a result, this paper proposes a Federated Interactive Learning IoT-based Health Monitoring Platform (FIL-IoT-HMP) which incorporates multi-expert feedback as ‘Human-in-the-loop’ in an active learning strategy in order to improve the clients’ Machine Learning (ML) models. The authors have proposed an architecture and conducted an experiment as a proof of concept. Federated learning approach has been preferred in this context given that it strengthens privacy by allowing the global model to be trained while sensitive data is retained at the local edge nodes. Also, each model’s accuracy is improved while privacy and security of data has been upheld.

  • Achieving services when turning a waybill into an e-waybill
  • 2011
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The focus of this paper is to present potential electronic waybill (e-waybill) solutions for a traditional waybill with the potential for supporting different Intelligent Transport System (ITS) services, such as, identification of freight, automating the exchange of content-related data for regulatory or commercial purposes, etc. At present there are some initiatives, for instance, by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the e-Freight framework, for achieving solutions that can handle e-waybills. Both these solutions focus on actor-to-actor communication, however we hypothesize that the storage of a waybill’s data both locally and centrally (i.e. actor-to-actor as well as goods-to-actor communication) can support more services than only central storage of the waybill’s data. Further we look at the information required and possible communication links between different actors in order to identify different ITS services that can be achieved through an e-waybill solution. We then map this information on to the e-waybill solutions that we have proposed, which will allow us to identify which services are supported by the different e-waybill solutions.

  • Towards low-cost Swedish planetary missions
  • 2004
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • As a continuation of the Swedish tradition of designing small and high-quality spacecrafts such as Freja, Astrid, Munin, and SMART-1, Swedish scientists and engineers have proposed aggressive but feasible missions as the next national-level target: (1) an interplanetary plasma module (or subsatellite) Saga, and (2) a technology mission Prisma. The Saga micro-satellite contains a separation mechanism, technologically-challenging communication package, and plasma payload with an estimated total mass of 37kg to make the mission possible with a piggy-back launch or by attaching to another planetary mission. The Prisma mission consists of a semi-coordinated dual micro- and nano-satellites flying together in Earth orbit with state-of-art instruments to test. Both projects aim to develop and test new key spacecraft technologies.
