  • Confirmation of a charged charmoniumlike state Z(c)(3885)(-/+) in e(+)e(-) -> pi(+/-) (D(D)over-bar*)(-/+) with double D tag
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - 1550-7998 .- 1550-2368. ; 92:9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present a study of the process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+/-) (D (D) over bar*)(-/+) using data samples of 1092 pb(-1) at root s = 4.23 GeV and 826 pb(-1) at root s = 4.26 GeV collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. With full reconstruction of the D meson pair and the bachelor pi(+) in the final state, we confirm the existence of the charged structure Z(c) (3885)(-/+) in the (D (D) over bar*)(-/+) system in the two isospin processes e(+)e(-) -> pi(+DD)-D-0*(-) and e(+)e(-) -> pi+D-D*(0). By performing a simultaneous fit, the statistical significance of Zc(3885)(-/+) signal is determined to be greater than 10 sigma, and its pole mass and width are measured to be M-pole = (3881.7 +/- 1.6(stat) +/- 1.6(syst)) MeV/c(2) and Gamma(pole) = (26.6 +/- 2.0(stat) +/- 2.1(syst)) MeV, respectively. The Born cross section times the (D (D) over bar*)(-/+) branching fraction (sigma(e(+)e(-) -> pi(+/-)Z(c)(3885)(-/+)) x Br(Z(c)(3885)(-/+) -> (D (D) over bar*)(-/+) )) is measured to be (141.6 +/- 7.9(stat) +/- 12.3(syst)) pb at root s = 4.23 GeV and (108.4 +/- 6.9(stat) +/- 8.8(syst)) pb at root s = 4.26 GeV. The polar angular distribution of the pi(+) - Z(c)(3885)(-/+) system is consistent with the expectation of a quantum number assignment of J(P) = 1(+) for Z(c)(3885)(-/+).

  • Observation of a Neutral Structure near the D(D)over-bar* Mass Threshold in e(+)e(-) -> (D(D)over-bar*)(0)pi(0) at root s=4.226 and 4.257 GeV
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 0031-9007 .- 1079-7114. ; 115:22
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A neutral structure in the D (D) over bar* system around the D (D) over bar* mass threshold is observed with a statistical significance greater than 10 sigma in the processes e(+)e(-) -> D+D*(-)pi(0) + c.c. and e(+)e(-) -> D-0(D) over bar*(0)pi(0) + c.c. at root s = 4.226 and 4.257 GeV in the BESIII experiment. The structure is denoted as Z(c)(3885)(0). Assuming the presence of a resonance, its pole mass and width are determined to be [3885.7(-5.7)(+4.3) (stat) +/- 8.4(syst)] MeV/c(2) and [35(-12)(+11) (stat) +/- 15(syst)] MeV, respectively. The Born cross sections are measured to be sigma[e(+)e(-) -> Z(c)(3885)(0)pi(0); Z(c)(3885)(0) -> D (D) over bar*] = [77 +/- 13(stat) +/- 17(syst)] pb at 4.226 GeV and [47 +/- 9(stat) +/- 10(syst)] pb at 4.257 GeV. The ratio of decay rates B[Z(c)(3885)(0) -> D+D*(-) + c.c.]/B[Z(c)(3885)(0) -> D-0(D) over bar*(0) + c.c.] is determined to be 0.96 +/- 0.18(stat) +/- 0.12(syst), consistent with no isospin violation in the process, Z(c)(3885)(0) -> D (D) over bar*.

  • Study of D+ -> K-pi(+)e(+)nu(e)
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: PHYSICAL REVIEW D. - 2470-0010. ; 94:3
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present an analysis of the decay D+ -> K-pi(+)e(+)nu(e) based on data collected by the BESIII experiment at the psi(3770) resonance. Using a nearly background-free sample of 18262 events, we measure the branching fraction B(D+ -> K-pi+e+nu e) = (3.77 +/- 0.03 +/- 0.08)%. For 0.8 < m(K pi) < 1.0 GeV/c(2), the partial branching fraction is B(D+ -> K-pi+e+nu e)([0.8,1.0]) = (3.39 +/- 0.03 +/- 0.08)%. A partial wave analysis shows that the dominant (K) over bar* (892)degrees component is accompanied by an S-wave contribution accounting for (6.05 +/- 0.22 +/- 0.18)% of the total rate and that other components are negligible. The parameters of the (K) over bar* (892)degrees resonance and of the form factors based on the spectroscopic pole dominance predictions are also measured. We also present a measurement of the (K) over bar* (892)degrees helicity basis form factors in a model-independent way.

  • Study of decay dynamics and CP asymmetry in D+ -> K(L)(0)e(+)nu(e) decay
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - 1550-7998 .- 1550-2368. ; 92:11
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using 2.92 fb(-1) of electron-positron annihilation data collected at root s = 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we obtain the first measurements of the absolute branching fraction B(D+ -> K(L)(0)e(+)nu(e)) = (4.481 +/- 0.027(stat) +/- 0.103(sys))% and the CP asymmetry A(CP)(D+-> KL0e+nu e) = (-0.59 +/- 0.60(stat) +/- 1.48(sys))%. From the D+ -> K(L)(0)e(+)nu(e) differential decay rate distribution, the product of the hadronic form factor and the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element, f(+)(K)(0)vertical bar V-cs vertical bar, is determined to be 0.728 +/- 0.006(stat) +/- 0.011(sys). Using vertical bar V-cs vertical bar from the SM constrained fit with the measured f(+)(K)(0)vertical bar V-cs vertical bar, f(+)(K)(0) = 0.748 +/- 0.007(stat) +/- 0.012(sys) is obtained, and utilizing the unquenched Lattice QCD (LQCD) calculation for f(+)(K)(0), vertical bar V-cs vertical bar = 0.975 +/- 0.008(stat) +/- 0.015(sys) +/- 0.025(LQCD).

  • Multi-ancestry genome-wide gene-smoking interaction study of 387,272 individuals identifies new loci associated with serum lipids
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Nature Genetics. - Nature Publishing Group. - 1061-4036. ; 51:4, s. 636-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The concentrations of high- and low-density-lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides are influenced by smoking, but it is unknown whether genetic associations with lipids may be modified by smoking. We conducted a multi-ancestry genome-wide gene-smoking interaction study in 133,805 individuals with follow-up in an additional 253,467 individuals. Combined meta-analyses identified 13 new loci associated with lipids, some of which were detected only because association differed by smoking status. Additionally, we demonstrate the importance of including diverse populations, particularly in studies of interactions with lifestyle factors, where genomic and lifestyle differences by ancestry may contribute to novel findings.

  • Multiancestry Genome-Wide Association Study of Lipid Levels Incorporating Gene-Alcohol Interactions
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: American Journal of Epidemiology. - Oxford University Press. - 0002-9262. ; 188:6, s. 1033-1054
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A person's lipid profile is influenced by genetic variants and alcohol consumption, but the contribution of interactions between these exposures has not been studied. We therefore incorporated gene-alcohol interactions into a multiancestry genome-wide association study of levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglycerides. We included 45 studies in stage 1 (genome-wide discovery) and 66 studies in stage 2 (focused follow-up), for a total of 394,584 individuals from 5 ancestry groups. Analyses covered the period July 2014-November 2017. Genetic main effects and interaction effects were jointly assessed by means of a 2-degrees-of-freedom (df) test, and a 1-df test was used to assess the interaction effects alone. Variants at 495 loci were at least suggestively associated (P < 1 x 10(-6)) with lipid levels in stage 1 and were evaluated in stage 2, followed by combined analyses of stage 1 and stage 2. In the combined analysis of stages 1 and 2, a total of 147 independent loci were associated with lipid levels at P < 5 x 10(-8) using 2-df tests, of which 18 were novel. No genome-wide-significant associations were found testing the interaction effect alone. The novel loci included several genes (proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 5 (PCSK5), vascular endothelial growth factor B (VEGFB), and apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme, catalytic polypeptide 1 (APOBEC1) complementation factor (A1CF)) that have a putative role in lipid metabolism on the basis of existing evidence from cellular and experimental models.

  • Novel genetic associations for blood pressure identified via gene-alcohol interaction in up to 570K individuals across multiple ancestries
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: PLoS ONE. - Public library science. - 1932-6203. ; 13:6
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Heavy alcohol consumption is an established risk factor for hypertension; the mechanism by which alcohol consumption impact blood pressure (BP) regulation remains unknown. We hypothesized that a genome-wide association study accounting for gene-alcohol consumption interaction for BP might identify additional BP loci and contribute to the understanding of alcohol-related BP regulation. We conducted a large two-stage investigation incorporating joint testing of main genetic effects and single nucleotide variant (SNV)-alcohol consumption interactions. In Stage 1, genome-wide discovery meta-analyses in approximate to 131 K individuals across several ancestry groups yielded 3,514 SNVs (245 loci) with suggestive evidence of association (P <1.0 x 10(-5)). In Stage 2, these SNVs were tested for independent external replication in individuals across multiple ancestries. We identified and replicated (at Bonferroni correction threshold) five novel BP loci (380 SNVs in 21 genes) and 49 previously reported BP loci (2,159 SNVs in 109 genes) in European ancestry, and in multi-ancestry meta-analyses (P < 5.0 x 10(-8)). For African ancestry samples, we detected 18 potentially novel BP loci (P< 5.0 x 10(-8)) in Stage 1 that warrant further replication. Additionally, correlated meta-analysis identified eight novel BP loci (11 genes). Several genes in these loci (e.g., PINX1, GATA4, BLK, FTO and GABBR2 have been previously reported to be associated with alcohol consumption. These findings provide insights into the role of alcohol consumption in the genetic architecture of hypertension.

  • Gut microbiota mediates intermittent-fasting alleviation of diabetes-induced cognitive impairment
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Nature Communications. - 2041-1723. ; 11:1, s. 855
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Cognitive decline is one of the complications of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Intermittent fasting (IF) is a promising dietary intervention for alleviating T2D symptoms, but its protective effect on diabetes-driven cognitive dysfunction remains elusive. Here, we find that a 28-day IF regimen for diabetic mice improves behavioral impairment via a microbiota-metabolites-brain axis: IF enhances mitochondrial biogenesis and energy metabolism gene expression in hippocampus, re-structures the gut microbiota, and improves microbial metabolites that are related to cognitive function. Moreover, strong connections are observed between IF affected genes, microbiota and metabolites, as assessed by integrative modelling. Removing gut microbiota with antibiotics partly abolishes the neuroprotective effects of IF. Administration of 3-indolepropionic acid, serotonin, short chain fatty acids or tauroursodeoxycholic acid shows a similar effect to IF in terms of improving cognitive function. Together, our study purports the microbiota-metabolites-brain axis as a mechanism that can enable therapeutic strategies against metabolism-implicated cognitive pathophysiologies.

  • Optical Energy Losses in Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Perovskite Light-Emitting Diodes
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Advanced Optical Materials. - John Wiley & Sons. - 2162-7568. ; 6:17
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites, in particular, 3D and quasi-2D ones, are in the fast development and their external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) have exceeded 10%, making them competitive candidates toward large-area and low-cost light-emitting applications allowing printing techniques. Similar to other LED categories, light out-coupling efficiency is an important parameter determining the EQE of perovskite LEDs (PeLEDs), which, however, is scarcely studied, limiting further efficiency improvement and understanding of PeLEDs. In this work, for the first time, optical energy losses in PeLEDs are investigated through systematic optical simulations, which reveal that the 3D and quasi-2D PeLEDs can achieve theoretically maximum EQEs of approximate to 25% and approximate to 20%, respectively, in spite of their high refractive indices. These results are consistent with the reported experimental data. This work presents primary understanding of the optical energy losses in PeLEDs and will spur new developments in the aspects of device engineering and light extraction techniques to boost the EQEs of PeLEDs.
