- I kapitlet resoneras utifrån ett rättssociologiskt perspektiv, kring vilka möjligheter barnkonventionen som lag har att förändra yrkesverksammas arbete i praktiken, med poliser som exempel. Poliser kan, liksom flera andra offentligt anställda tjänstepersoner, ses som ”gräsrotsbyråkrater” vars handlingsutrymme påverkas och styrs av en mängd andra faktorer förutom lagstiftning. I kapitlet diskuteras bland annat kompetens och resurser som viktiga faktorer för barnkonventions möjligheter att få genomslag i polisens arbete med barn.

- I kapitlet skriver jag om hur artikel 3.1 barnkonventionen används som rättsligt argument inför beslut som tvingar ett barn att flytta från sin bostad. Det finns många typer av beslut som kan innebära att ett barn tvingas flytta från sin bostad. Jag har i detta kapitel valt att skriva om situationer när barn tvingas flytta på grund av att en förälder inte kan betala en skuld. Den vanligaste anledningen till att familjer avhyses är på grund av obetalda hyresskulder. Av den anledningen har jag riktat ett särskilt fokus på artikel 3.1 barnkonventionen och dess relevans inför sådana beslut.

- FN:s konvention om barnets rättigheter är en internationell överenskommelse, beslutad 1989, som fått stort inflytande på barnpolitik och lagstiftning i många av världens länder. Vi presenterar här några erfarenheter från ett mångårigt utbild-ningsprogram om barns rättigheter inom utbildningssektorn, finansierat av Sida och genomfört av Lunds universitet. Författarna har medverkat i programmet som lärare och har genom åren besökt ett 20-tal länder och fått nära inblick i förändringsarbeten på skilda administrativa nivåer i dessa länders skolsystem. Kunskaper om hur implementering kan gå till i andra länder och världsdelar ger perspektiv på utvecklingen i Sverige.
