• Local Development and Creative Industries. Empirical, methodological and theoretical reflections.
• 2011
• Samlingsverk (redaktörskap) (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
• This book presents a wide range of approaches of the study of local development and creative industries. Seven authors´ presents a volume organized in three parts. Part I offers empirical studies on a growing experience economy, and also heritage, design and Factor 10 as a resource for development. Part II offers a methodological study on narrative as a force for company development. This part also offers reflections on interactive knowledge and however development is a prerequisite on localization, regionalization and globalization, neo-institutionalism and symbolic aspects of policy.

• Addressing Traceability Challenges in the Development of Embedded Systems
• 2017
• Licentiatavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
• Context: Currently, development efforts in embedded systems lead to a large number of interconnected artifacts. Traceability enables understanding and managing these artifacts. However, establishing traceability is not a trivial task, it requires the development organization to plan how traceability will fit into its processes and provide tools to support traceability establishment. In practice, guidelines for establishing traceability are lacking. Therefore, companies struggle with establishing traceability and making the most of traceability. Objective: The overall objective of this research is to improve traceability processes and tools for embedded systems development. In this thesis, we started with first understanding the domain and practical traceability challenges and also investigated how traceability tools can be improved.Method:Since establishing traceability is a practical problem, our research is conducted in close collaboration with industry partners. We conducted empirical studies to understand which traceability challenges exist and designed solutions for some of these challenges. Concretely, we used action research, case study and design science methods for the different studies. Results:Our studies show that establishing traceability in practice has several challenges, the most prominent ones being: the manual work of establishing traceability is high; the engineers responsible for creating the links perceive it as an overhead; lack of tools to enable using traceability; lack of methods and tools to measure its quality; no universal standards for traceability to be exchanged and it is difficult to measure the return on investment of establishing traceability. To reduce the amount of manual work needed to maintain traceability links, we designed guidelines for traceability tool developers. We also show the feasibility of a configurable and extendable traceability management tool. Contributions: As part of this thesis, we have elicited persistent traceability challenges in development of embedded systems development. This list of challenges can also be used by other researchers who are interested in the topic of traceability for embedded systems development. As a first initiative towards solving these challenges, we propose important factors and guidelines for traceability tool developers and organizations that need to acquire traceability tools. Lastly, we have demonstrated the feasibility of these factors and guidelines through a prototype implementation. This implementation is open source and available for industry to use in their development and for other researchers to use for studies and extend the tool.

• Speech intelligibility of ideal binary masked mixtures
• 2010
• Proceedings (redaktörskap) (refereegranskat)abstract
• An analysis of intelligibility measurements of ideal binary masked speech in noise for a group of normal hearing lis-teners is presented. In the proposed model, speech cues in the processed mixtures are encoded by two information channels: a noisy speech channel and a vocoded noise channel. Results indicate that the former dominates for dense binary mask patterns, and the latter for sparse binary mask patterns, as controlled by a local SNR criterion used for forming the ideal mask. Moreover, speech cues from the target part of the processed mixture may be better utilized by the listeners as a result of the ideal binary masking. Finally, the analysis is extended to show a good qualitative agree-ment with several previous studies of intelligibility of ideal binary masked noisy speech.

• Blood Perfusion in Rotational Full-Thickness Lower Eyelid Flaps Measured by Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging
• 2020
• Ingår i: Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. - 1537-2677. ; 36:2, s. 148-151
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• PURPOSE: Large upper eyelid defects can be repaired by rotational full-thickness lower eyelid flaps. The aim was to measure the blood perfusion in such flaps, and how it is affected by the length of the flaps, and the degree of rotation and stretching.METHODS: Nine patients underwent the Quickert procedure for entropion repair in which a full-thickness eyelid flap of approximate width 0.5 cm and length 2 cm was dissected in the lower eyelid. This generates a full-thickness eyelid flap similar to that used to repair large upper eyelid defects. Perfusion was measured using laser speckle contrast imaging, before and after the flap was rotated 90° and 120°, and stretched using forces of 0.5, 1, and 2 N.RESULTS: Blood perfusion decreased gradually from the base to the tip of the flap; being 75% of the reference value 0.5 cm from the base, 63% at 1.0 cm, 55% at 1.5, 23% at 1.75 cm, and 4% at 2.0 cm. Rotating the flaps by 90° or 120° had little effect on the perfusion. Stretching reduced the perfusion from 63% to 32% at 2 N, when measured at 1 cm. The combination of stretching and rotation did not lead to any further decrease.CONCLUSIONS: Blood perfusion in lower eyelid rotational flaps seems to be more sensitive to stretching than to rotation. Provided the flap is no longer than 1.5 cm, the perfusion will be greater than 20%, even when rotated, which should be sufficient for adequate survival and healing.

• Conclusion: The Hostage Case, Present Day Knowledge, and Future Implications
• 2023
• Ingår i: Honest Errors? Combat Decision-Making 75 Years After the Hostage Case. - The Hague : T.M.C. Asser Press. - 9789462656109 - 9789462656116 ; , s. 289-300
• Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
• Seventy-five years after a US tribunal in Nuremberg acquitted Lothar Rendulic of devastating and forcibly evacuating Northern Norway, the Rendulic Rule stands firmly in international law. This concluding chapter summarises the anthology’s main historical, legal, and military-ethical findings. It provides an overview of the historical developments that culminated in the scorched earth tactics applied by the retreating German 20th Mountain Army under Rendulic’s command. It then discusses the preparations and legal peculiarities of the trial, as well as reactions to the judgment. The chapter shows that the case against Rendulic is arguably the wrong foundation for the no second-guessing rule, since he did not consider the complete devastation of Northern Norway and the forcible evacuation of its entire civilian population militarily necessary. Although the Rendulic Rule rests on meagre legal forensics, it has acquired legal significance in primary rules of conduct in the shape of the reasonable commander test in international humanitarian law and the mistake of fact defence in international criminal law. Numerous domestic, regional, and international courts and tribunals have applied the rule that nowadays has a strong legal standing. Yet, despite rapidly evolving military and information technology, reasonableness, empathy, and (institutional) bias in combat remain challenging issues

• A net-zero building application and its role in exergy-aware local energy strategies for sustainability
• 2012
• Ingår i: Energy Conversion and Management. - : Elsevier BV. - 0196-8904 .- 1879-2227. ; 63:SI, s. 208-217
• Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
• Based on two case studies, this paper explores the nexus of exergy, net-zero targets, and sustainable cities as a means of analyzing the role of exergy-aware strategies at the building and district level. The first case study is a premier building in Ankara that is ready to meet the net-zero exergy target. It is also the first building in Turkey to receive the highest Platinum rating in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. A net-zero exergy building (NZEXB) is a building that has an annual sum of net-zero exergy transfer across the building-district boundary. This new target is made possible by lowered annual exergy consumption, (AEXC), and increased on-site production from a bundle of sustainable energy technologies. The modeled results of the building indicate that the reduced AEXC of 60 kW h/m 2 yr is met with on-site production of 62 kW h/m 2 yr. On-site production includes PV and building integrated PV, a micro-wind turbine, combined heat and power, GSHP, and solar collectors. Diversified thermal energy storage tanks further facilitate the exergy supply to meet with the exergy demand. The results of this case study provide key lessons to structure an energy value chain that is more aware of exergy, which are up-scalable to the district level when the bundle of sustainable energy technologies is zoomed out across a larger spatial area. These key lessons are then compared with the second case study of two districts in the south heating network of the city of Stockholm, which was the European Green Capital in 2010. The levels of exergy match in these districts of Stockholm, namely the districts of Högdalen and Hammarby, is found to be 0.82 and 0.84, respectively. However, there remain several bottlenecks for these districts to reach net-zero targets at the community level. The paper concludes that the NZEXB case study has much to offer as a "building block" to reform the way energy is converted and managed and in this way, to structure an exergy-aware energy value chain for greater sustainability in green cities of the future.
